HERCULES ON MOVIES!!
What Does Ain’t It Cool’s TV Critic Think Of THE DICTATOR?? Listen And Call In LIVE
At 8 p.m. PT Saturday!!
Every Saturday night for the last few months I’ve been participating in something called “Ask Mr. KERN,” a radio show out of Southern California that most of the time quickly wends its way to Geek Matters.
One of the key topics tonight is Sacha Baron Cohen’s “The Dictator.” We’ll likely also be talking about Peter Berg's “Battleship.”
Our special guests tonight include Ain’t It Cool movie critics Steve “Capone” Prokopy and Alan “Nordling” Cerny.
The radio show airs Saturday 8:05 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific Time.
No matter where you are you can listen to the show LIVE by hitting the “Listen Live” button at kernradio.com.
Best of all, you, constant reader, can join this very nerdy conversation.
The toll-free call-in line is:
1-800-640-5376
Call in drunk, as I always do, but watch your language. This is not a podcast. This monster goes out over the air on all 50,000 watts of Southern California’s KERN-AM.
Be there. Mahalo.

about the ratio of legit calls vs. those of blatant trolls.
-
I hope I don't forget.
-
...they've only had one phone call.
-

And yes, having three AICN guys on one show should be interesting.
by Shermdawg
It seems like every website known to man has tried a podcast at one time or another, I'm kinda surprised AICN hasn't attempted one by now. We'd listen.
-
Seeya later. Should be fun. Wait, all 3 of you?? Poop, meet fan.
-
A week or two ago we had at least two calls! As we've said before, call in and join the fun!
-
May 19, 2012, 8:13 a.m. CST
Do they have call screeners to weed out the idiots and assholes?
by F-18
That may be why so few phone calls get on air.
-
The show will take calls about ANYTHING. All idiots are welcome.
-
That's a fact about the callers. First, it's a young show, only been on the air for a couple months... so the audience is small. Second, the show ain't about right wing politicsand shit like that... so it seems like if ya can't bust Obama/Romney balls... then why call. Third, this is not a pod cast (though the web site that is coming will pod cast these shows... soon I fucking hope). It's a live show on AM radio on Saturday night. We are trying to see if this will fly, Orvil. Deep in my heart I believe it will. Join in, call or don't, the show is a hell of a lot of fun.
-
Savages and animals... all are welcome, ALL ARE WELCOME ***in the voice of that midget broad from POLTERGEIST***
-
on the radio.
-
I know this isn't a podcast, I was talking about a hypothetical AICN podcast given this is the first time I've heard three of the sites contributors doing anything of this nature. Something Harry and Co. should've been doing for years, and if they have I wasn't aware of it. Also, as I've mentioned, I've been listening. I've been a "savage" the last two weeks, and probably will tonight.
-
...and I promise I won't miss 3/4 of the show this week. Man that ticked me off last week. It's been a blast listening/participating here in the talkback animal cage.
-
You've heard Merrick's Whotininnies, right? That's one AICN-related podcast. I don't remember any others except ... I think the comics guys do one. Right?
-
MERRICK! He'd be a great guest.
-
I hear that...
-
I'm looking forward to being savaged by you animals... hehehehehehehe...
-
... do this.
-
the pool ripples...
-
That's on me. I had chili today...
-
I'm ready. HEY! L.H. is back!
-
like there's an unplugged live mic wire somewhere on the floor. I'm gonna put up with it though, worth it. Ready for the show everyone?

Wasco! I remember getting stuck there once when my car broke down
by gotilk
on the way to LA. (isn't that like an un-condensed version of the town motto?)
-
They have been doing some work on our crappy equipment here. Sorry about that.
-
CARPET CAAAAAAAAAVVE!! Remember that scene from Get Him to the Greek. If you rub carpet on your walls it can make you very, very calm. Mmmmmmm.... carrrr-petty...
-
WASCO... because we can. (gas is like... 8.00 a gallon)
-
LOL Yes, more Carpet Cave!
-
Nordling, where are ya man?
-
May 19, 2012, 10:13 p.m. CST
gotilk, didn't know about those shows, gonna have to check them out some time.
by Shermdawg
-
So, drink up!
-
43... a youngster.
-
How sad is that? Oh well... down it goes.
-
Go figure.
-
Sounded like a bomb.
-
Was it the sound of Battleship bombing? And I thank you.
-
Who in the blue hell is Brooklyn Decker!? And why is this Brooklyn Decker mentioned and not that John Carter guy or that Umbrella girl?
-
Google her...

No idea what blew up, but I just watched the world's smallest mushroom cloud
by gotilk
drift across the sky. weird. Tiny little thing.
-
Noice.
-
I have TV in my Carpet Cave!
-
... I hardly knew her. Thank you.... thank you very much.
-
So I guess that makes them an uber rich power couple.
-
She dated Chris Brown?
-
Avengers sunk your Battleship! You have no chance.
-
Fun stuff.
-
... if the IMDB cast list can be believed, the character of Whitney from Smallville is apparently in the movie. I mentioned on the air being dismayed by the 'modern' Superman in DC's New 52... we could go an entire three hours on that sadness alone.
-
Someone in my area got their hands on some legitimate fireworks, the kind they fire up in the air at fairgrounds and fourth of July celebrations.
-
Hey, if any of you guys have anything you want to talk about, let's hear from you. I'm keeping an eye out here.
-
The documentary list is always good. I crave documentaries. I just finally caught that doc about Cinerama, it was awesome.

You have to reboot Superman if you're going to make a new movie.
by L.H.Puttgrass
As i understand it, Christopher Reeve is dead and not making any new movies. Ask Bryan Singer. He found out the hard way. So I'll give Nolan and Snyder a break on that point.
-
Yeah, my cave is carpeted, baby. Smooove.
-
dead air
-
I didn't have time on the air to say that I'd heard Jack Black mention the movie on Stern this week but didn't get much of an impression. Your write-up made me want to check it out sooner than later.
-
in sandals?
-
Drugs and Mickey D's. A potent combo.
-
Group hug everybody.
-
I believe we have a man overboard.
-
The TB is #5. #4 is another Herc TB. He's a trickster.
-
McD's and drugs.... you have no idea. LOL
-
Jamal Walker make an appearance?
-
and he is PISSING me off.
-
and it's 16 minutes long? I mean they could do a lot of close up violence. Man, Tyrion has a few great moments coming up.
-
Now THAT will be cool. Huge Daniels fan here. The guy can do anything.
-
Not your fault, Herc. You work with what they give you, I know. But maaaan. The Hannibal thing (because of Fuller ONLY) and the EMP weapon movie where all technology goes kaput, that looks pretty good. But the rest? Hmmmmmm....

T'pol and Trip were great on Enterprise, not a total piece of crap.
by Shermdawg
-
Cannot wait for that.
-
May 19, 2012, 11:47 p.m. CST
First Class 2 probably 2014 if they start filming in January.
by Shermdawg
Doubt Fox would blow their wad in the fall.
-
Trip and T'pol were great. The time traveling helper guy was great. I even liked the captain toward the end. Enterprise started like a shortie, turned into a pimp and ended like a bitch. To put it in street.
-
The age might be pushing it, you're right. But perfect casting otherwise.
-
Though my experience involved sleep deprivation, extreme exhaustion, and 20 count boxes of McNuggets. I actually had a McD cashier snap of their McComa and ask me if I was okay. As opposed to,' Do you want fries with that?".
-
Even as an invisible woman, however, she still couldn't hide those eraserheads she's smuggling in her sweaters.
-
May 19, 2012, 11:51 p.m. CST
Yeah, I think Enterprise gets too much hate from a lot of folks who didn't stick with it.
by Shermdawg
Not implying anyone on the show that has complained about it didn't stick with it.
-
I'll find a way. I'll lie to people, I'll put barriers in the hall to prevent interruptions. Whatever it takes.
-
I'm just a huge Trek nerd from childhood. I would have watched if they gave the theme song to Justin Beiber.
-
Was that Baa Baa Black Sheep?? Oh man I LOVED that show. I built like 6 of the model planes from that show when I was a kid.
-
bad choice.
-
That was a brilliant performance.
-
And you as well, Herc. Really adds another layer to the whole experience here. Great stuff, guys.
-
LOL!!! Just kiddin with ya man.
-
Twittering? Really?
-
see you next week. It's been real, it's been fun, and it's been real fun as well. Oh garsh!
-
Always a pleasure.
-
and what NBC did to him. Horrible.
-
May 20, 2012, 12:04 a.m. CST
There's always next week for Harmon.....and PROMETHEUS SPECULATION!
by Shermdawg
Good show, didn't feel like two hours at all.
-
May 20, 2012, 12:06 a.m. CST
gotilk - Yes, it was a messed up way to treat an employee.
by L.H.Puttgrass
But that blog of his was hilarious!
-
Wasn't Hannity on BEFORE “Ask Mr. KERN” ? Is this KERNRadio or HANNITYRadio?
-
Later.
-
Yep, seeya next week. This was fun. Yeah, the Stop Obama Express was on before AND after the show. Yeah, it really never feels like a full 2 hours. Goes by way too fast.
-
... as well as how they gutted Heroes and chose to go with (cheaper?) lower quality writers... Is NBC the new FOX?
-
Check the reference voltage on each end of every signal path in the station/studio. Check to see if audio cables are too close to power cables... and also make sure no-one has added any kind of DIMMER switch for any lighting nearby. Good luck with it, it an be like a needle in the haystack problem. I know. I had a hum in my little home studio that took me almost 2 weeks to find. I know.... I know....
-
See you all next week.
-
See you next week then I hope. You missed a lot of fun. They will be archiving the show soon, they said. Did they say *Podcast format?* I think they did, as in downloadable I hope, not just streaming. Just think, they can play up the whole new , bonus audience thing to their advertisers now.
