...so you know it's good.
-
why is there only one leg visible for the two people in the back?
-
Hated the first.
-
or does that poster smell of rich mahogany? I mean it. It's pungent. Singes the nostrils.
-
I'm looking at you Skynet.
-
I want to invite her to the pants party.
-
That´s what I do, that´s what real men do, like Eastwood.
-
I think the two different pant legs are Brick.
-
I hope they don't fuck this up, the first one is a comedic classic, and I don't even like Will Ferrell. It's one of those great ensemble comedies that the US does well. Like The Three Amigos!

Carrell, Rudd, Applegate?
-
I really hope he isn't in it. He must be best buds with Farrell or something to keep on getting work

It just looks creepy.

I am a fan of Anchorman. I own the dvd. I watch it, I laugh. But I still feel it could've been an all-time great comedy, if they had a real screenplay. They came up with some classic characters, but the story is too all over the place. It was Adam McKay's first movie he directed, so I looked at the movie and cut him some slack. But he did the same thing with Talladaga Nights. There was more of a plot, but too much randomness and improv hurt the movie. Again, amazing character, but the movie could've been so much better. The Other Guys sucked balls on so many levels. Jokes that made no sense and just randomly thrown into the movie. Like what was funny about Mivhael Keaton quoting TLC? I thought there was going to be some big payoff, but nothing. Unfortunately thanks to Adam McKay and Judd Apatow, comic actors have way too much power. Most comedies have so much improv that it hurts movies. Will Ferrell seems to just improv everything in all his movies. And that's why they suck. Improv is a good thing, but too much hurts movies. You can tell when someone is improvising. They tend to ramble, which is why Apatow's movies are way over two hours. If you transcribed Anchorman and travelled back like 10 years before it was made and shopped that script around Hollywood, they'd tell you it was shit. Or that they like the concept, but needs a rewrite to have it make more sense. This is why comedy gets no respect anymore. Yes, horror is still low man on the tottumpole, but what other genre besides comedy basically make the movie up as they going some cases. Even Mike Leigh has his actors rehearse a lot before he films his movies, so they all know who their characters are.

The first one was kind of lightning in a bottle. I mean the gang fight in the first film? Classic and untouchable. How are they going to top that?
-
May 16, 2012, 10:31 a.m. CST
In Ferrell, and more importantly, in McKay, we trust. The only problem is that Anchorman was, now don't laugh, lightning in a bottle.
by openthepodbaydoorshal
A movie that is as quotable as Anchorman isn't planned, it just is. If they try too hard to duplicate what made Anchorman, they'll fail. Just create new funny, and the rest will follow. Thus, endeth the lesson.

Anchorman tackled sexism, now the sequel will take on racism. I wonder what the third film will address?

Homophobia?

Where spent most of season two hunting...Nick Stahl. Maybe we should send him out to search for him.

I wish they would do an alternate cut of the first one using different takes.
by JediRob
So much of that movie was improvised, i would love to see the exact same movie, just using all the different jokes.

Is it me or is she just way hotter now as an almost 40-something woman then she ever was on "Mw/C"?

From the looks of it, that's precisely what they're planning to do here.

If Will Ferrell and company were to take a 10 yr hiatus from makin' movies, the world would not be worse off for it. Two amusing scenes in the movie: Burgundy's teleprompter gaffe and the news channel rumble, and that was only funny 'cause the Spanish channel showed up and that was only funny 'cause my wife watches the news in Spanish. Christina Applegate resists his charms for all of what, one date? Oh, that's right, not even that. Stupid. You cannot do better than that, San Diego? F you, indeed.
-
Cant wait, Anchorman rules, one of the funniest films ever except for Step Brothers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein! If Will Ferrell etc took ten years off, life just wouldnt be funny any more!
-
must have more refined comic sensibilities than the rest of us. Thanks for coming into the comments section and letting us know what ignorant sheeple we all are. We appreciate you taking the time, rather than just skipping articles about movies you're not interested in, like a person who's not a pretentious asshole.

LOL, some of these posts are far more hilarious than Anchorman ever was ...
by Vince Ricardo
... I never realized there were so many people with their heads stuck up Will Ferrell's ass. "Ack, someone came into a subject they hate and insulted a living god! How can that possibly happen on AICN! Blasphemy! Screw you, live-in-your-mom's-basement-guy! Oh, and die, also, 'cause that's how important this is!" Nice. Ferrell's first couple of movies were funny ... and, really, that's all you need to see. Every movie that followed has been basically the same. I don't hate him (his Harry Carey impression is one of the best impressions EVER). Hell, if I were him and people wanted to continue to give me money for spewing out crap, I'd keep doin' it. Shoot, that's not his fault. I'll give Anchorman this, it was about 20x better than Step Brothers. Anchorman was done far better 20 (or so) years ago, when it was called Broadcast News. Continue to enjoy your cash, Ferrell, they're still ready for ya!
