Ever Wanted To Be Frozen In Carbonite? Here's Your Chance!!
The Kidd here...
Tell me that it wouldn't be cool as hell to be frozen in carbonite. I mean, without the dangers of being trapped in stasis for an indefinite amount of time or becoming part of Jabba the Hutt's wall decor, it really would make for an interesting and awesome piece of art to hang in your home.
Now it's entirely possible, not to mention cost-effective... and even better, you can freeze yourself in carbonite and be able to take the piece home with you.
As part of their Star Wars Weekends this year, starting May 18, Disney's Hollywood Studios at Disney World in Orlando, FL, you have the opportunity to be carbon frozen for the price of $99.95 plus shipping (in addition to your theme park admission).

The process is said to use state-of-the-art imaging technology to capture your face from a number of different angles for digital reconstruction in the form of a 7 3/4″ figurine that'll be shipped to you about four weeks later.
Reservations are needed, and you can get more info on how to take care of that over at the Disney Parks blog. It looks like you have until June 16 to get this done, and it is available at any time during the week, too, during that span, so, if you've always wanted to see yourself frozen in carbonite, this is your best chance of making that happen for yourself.
Who can get me into Disney World for a day? Because, in case you can't tell, I totally want this. Who wouldn't?

This is amazing, I need this in my room
-
If my face and profile were nt so repulsively corpulent
-
And you've got a deal.
-
tresequis, LOL!
-
.. and have them carbonite me while I moon people? I'll pay extra for it...
-
Lucas already has photos, with what he did to my childhood.
-
And, who wouldn't want this on your office desk?
-
Though I suspect it'll be just the head scan popped onto the han solo body/clothes, and at 7 3/4", that means you'll probably have to look pretty close to realize its actually a custom job and not just the han solo version.
-
Only if you can hold in a fart just as they flash-freeze you, so that you can really do it just like the "Family Guy" scene. "Sorry... sorry... I'm sorry.... I'm so sorry..."
-
Why couldn't they have had it then?!?<br> <br> <br>
-
Oh wait. I forgot where I was for a second. Carry on...
-
I sooooo need to get this done...like yesterday!!!! :D

I would travel across the country for this if I had the money.
by Tikidonkeypunch
Sadly I don't. Now if they offered this at Disneyland...
-
for Star Wars Weekends then you really can't call yourself a true geek. It really is a whole lot of fun. Last time I was there I saw not one, not two but FIVE very realistic looking Jek Porkins costumes. None of them were on an actual Disney cast member ... just fat dudes visiting for a day.
-
So get the fuck out then, douche.
-
then carve out a hole in the crotch area so I can literally go fuck myself.
-
I'd even pay 50 but 100 seems pretty steep

It's the same equipment they use to do those 3D crystal images
by Ricardo
99 bucks? Pass. For 15 bucks I'd do one.
-
Damn it I was going to Disneyland this month and now they do this at Disneyworld! Not fair!
-
So, it's not a full body scan? I'd love to see what my big 'ole Buddha Belly would look like frozen in carbonite. 'Course it probably wouldn't stand upright with all that frontage. Still, sounds pretty sweet.
-
Man I thought it was gonna be fuckin' LIFE-SIZED! Instead it's going to be a little action figure that vaguely looks like you for a hundred fuckin' bucks. If you have any artistic talent you could do it yourself for like $5, or pay an artist $50 to do it.

He made plaster molds of himself and built the whole thing one summer. Way cooler than a digital thing I think
-
Although they do have an Indiana Jones ride and Disney World doesn't.
-
dental alginate, plaster bandage and a fibreglass kit and make a full-size one.
-
Here's a guy that does it for $50 for a 4" figure or $300 for a 12" figure: http://www.paulpapedesigns.com/Store_GG.html

so it's a bit of a walk. I couldn't afford the cost anyway as I'm one of these poor people in my country battling to find work after facing redundancy and losing their job. Have no money freakin' sucks and you still have to meet your bills. Good for you if can get one...not even in my dreams.

I can get 3 people in so let me see what I can do. October is a good time to come. The Epcot food and wine festival is going on and the Magic Kingdom is decorated up for Halloween.

Not to just jump in here, but my family is planning a one day in and out to Disney World (Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom) for late June. If there's any thing you could do or advice you have I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't mean to pile on with larsson at all, the ticket prices are just kind of scaring the crap out of me. :) I wouldn't presume to email either of you, I'll wait to see what you think here.

I work in IT. I've installed Carbonite on literally hundreds of computers. Not one single person ever realized the origin of the name or acknowledged any interest whatsoever when I pointed it out... Your average non-geek is a sad, sad specimen.
-
Probably using 3D printers - saw one in action on some news program. The "printer" builds a three dimensional object by adding layers of material until object is complete.

Maltria to Disney World (which has been planned for more than year) just happened to coincide with this. Barely. So incredibly excited. Stupid sexy autocorrect!!! I even got my wife in on this. I signed up and she said, "Well... what about me?" She's getting a doctorate pretty soon... we're thinking about bookending her diploma with our bodies... FROZEN IN CARBONITE!!

For $99 I would expect something bigger. Sounds like a rip-off.

STAR WARS

This site might have something for you. http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/orlando-florida.htm Get your tickets before going there at least. Tickets prices in Orlando are way higher then here and taxes are normally not yet included in pricing over there. Going this july again. gonna have me a good time for 3 weeks.
