CW Greens ARROW, CARRIE, CULT, BEAST & CUT To Series!!
The CW announces its fall schedule Thursday, but has already greenlit five new hourlongs to series:

* “Arrow,” from longtime “Dawson’s Creek” showrunner Greg Berlanti (he also created ABC’s insipid “No Ordinary Family” and scripted the horrible “Green Lantern” movie), follows iconic DC superhero Oliver Queen, The Green Arrow. Stephen Amell (“Private Practice”) plays Ollie, Katie Cassidy (“Melrose Place,” “Gossip Girl”) plays Dinah Lance.
* “The Carrie Diaries,” a prequel to “Sex and the City” from writer-producer Amy Harris (“Sex and the City,” “Gossip Girl”), follows Carrie Bradshaw through her teen years in Connecticut. AnnaSophia Robb (“Jumper,” “Soul Surfer”) inherits the Sarah Jessica Parker role.
* “Beauty and the Beast,” from writer-producers Sherri Cooper and Jennifer Levin (“Brothers & Sisters,” “Unforgettable”), is a remake of the 1980s Linda Hamilton-Ron Perlman series, this time starring Kristin Kruek (“Smallville”) and Jay Ryan (“Terra Nova”).
* “First Cut,” from Jennie Snyder Urman (“Lipstick Jungle,” “90210”), is a medical drama starring Meryl Streep’s daughter Mamie Gummer (“Off The Map”).
* “Cult,” from Rockne S. O'Bannon (“SeaQuest,” “Farscape,” “The Triangle,” “V”), is a drama about fans who may be recreating the crimes featured on their favorite TV show. It stars Jessica Lucas (“Melrose Place,” “Friends With Benefits”).
They join recently renewed “The Vampire Diaries,” “90210,” “Nikita,” “Supernatural,” “Heart of Dixie” and “Gossip Girl.”

Green Lantern wasn't horrible. It was okay, same with John Carter.
by happybunni
I refuse to watch this Arrow series, though I know it is aimed at young teen girls and not myself... I did watch Smallville all the way through.
-
Of building crediblity with a character and then replacing the actor when giving the character their own series. It's like if Joss Whedon had recast Angel when they spun him off from buffy. Also it's not Heart it's Hart her last name is Hart. But I'm glad it's returning. And Im gonna have to check out the carrie diaries just because its got Anna Sophia Rob in it.

The only thing that looks promising is CULT. Why the hell are they remaking BEAUTY AND THE BEAST???
by Mark Williams
-
...but you couldn't get me to watch The Carrie Diaries if my life depended on it.
-
They won't call it that because Warner Bros (who own DC Comics) is too scared to call it something that might get attention. They can't handlle the comic book movie production (except Batman and now MAYBE Superman). They're stupid enough to think that people might think it's ripping off Hawkeye. Warner Bros has NO CLUE how Marvel made 800 Million + (Worldwide) on 'The Avengers'.
-
Except maybe Wild Dog.

and I Think This is one of The STUPIDEST Ideas I have ever heard!!!

starring that energy vampire, Kristin Kreuk. I swear, she sucked the life out of every single scene she was in in Smallville. She has one speed--"look doe eyed at the other person and talk slowly and methodically while getting misty eyed." Meanwhile the pacing comes to a grinding halt.
-
So I guess this series is to cover that glaring blank spot most of us just assumed happened where the character of Carrie Bradshaw underwent extensive genetic manipulation to become part human and part horse - RIGHT?

John Carter is okay, Green Lantern is just bad. Not horrible. Just bad.
by Tall_Boy6t6
Did like the bit where she figured out who he was behind the mask in a second, though.
-
I watched that show for 9 years and the last season turns into 'lets troll for anyone who isn't an Obama voter'. FUCK THEM FOREVER. I will NEVER WATCH ANOTHER CW SHOW. EVER.
-
beauty and the beast! ha!, yeah maybe in the 80's you could get away with that shit. now it will be , hold the fuck on, you're a mutant lion living in he sewer system. get the fuck away from me dude. the rest is bullshit. well played CW, you have a new tv series i will actually watch!

Where Marvel seem to rejoice and celebrate their characters..
by paul burnett
..Warner/DC seem intent on making theirs po faced and miserable as can be. I dunno if thats supposed to make them more beleivable or relevant but it doesn't work for me. I'm fed up of angst being the main mood for Batman and by the look of it Snyders Superman, gritty and darker will be the main theme. Can't we just have some fun with the DC universe for a change? That Green Arrow pic says everything you need to know on the tone that this will have. I'm not asking for Batman to be tied to a giant typewriter or for Green Arrow to be shooting boxing glove arrows, just stop pondering your navels and be superheroes...kay?

Execution. I know... right?

..But it was more the lethal injection kind!

After Smallville ended, they are probably hurtin' for viewers. Hence "Arrow."

Well that's the last we'll see of him in Go Girls, then.

Lot of good shows coming..and Nikita being saved makes it sweeter
by David Werring
Beauty and the Beast..Kewl..A modern Telling of the classic Tv show...And Kristan and Jay should be great together..Im intigued by this, but also..frightend that it wont last I hope it does last and grow..and also depends on when they put it on...I would say thursdays...this has so much potential..and that what scares me..cause I know all the haters out there and on here..will chop it down for no reason at all.. Now GREEN ARROW on the other hand..HELL YES!!...not the smallville green arrow...but a grown up green arrow (yes grown up,well for cw standards anyways)...Does anyone know where they are putting these two shows???...
-
On the CW. Lowly dogs, bow down before the new TV god.
-
No Ordinary Family was a decent show, and certainly not worth your petty little side comments, Herc.

Cult - by Rockne S. O'bannon - count me in! I was hoping Carrie was like the Stephen King book
by slayme
and not that horrible sex & city. but if Cult can be even close to as creative as Farscape was should be in for helluva treat. wish they'd just do more Farscape but oh well.
-
So, will they do this like a comic book kind of prequel where they pretend Carrie crossed paths with every single character on the later show when she was still a teen?
-

Are they calling it "Arrow" instead of "Green Arrow" because of "Green Lantern"? Because "Green Lantern" tanked at the box office, and "Green Arrow" is too similar to "Green Lantern."
by Mr. Pricklepants
Kind of like reducing "John Carter of Mars" to "John Carter" because "Mars Needs Moms" was a huge box office failure.
-
Episodes of Nikita and Supernatural All day long.
-
I dont know if Arrow will be good but Hawkeye is a rip off of Green Arrow stupid. Also Avengers was good but Hawkeye and Black Widow where horrible. Hawkeye was way to OP and Scarlett did a horrible job at playing her. Only reason Avengers did that well is because of good marketing and Josh Wedon.
-
Reason why Batman is moody and dark it cause he a dark character so that works for him. Not sure about Man of Steel but how bout we wait and see how that pans out before we decided. Also hello Avengers doing great at the Box Office is not a win for Marvel it a win for Disney. Dont blame DC they got noting to do with the movie making part. That all on Warner Brothers. Also take a look at ticket prices. I bet if you put inflation into account then I bet you money Dark Knight put more asses in the seat than Avengers. Also since Avatar and the preseasons 3D bullcrap came out you noticed how easy it is for movies nowadays to break records. Seem to happen every year now. Wait till next year or something some movie will break Avengers record. It seem to happen all the time now.
-
Fixed it for you. I don't know man, DC's plot of mediocre TV shows (Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Smallville, Arrow, Blue Beetle, The Graysons, etc.), rebooting Batman in a few years, crossing their fingers on Superman reboot, Green Lantern, and killing Whedon's Wonderwoman seems more in line with green lighting whatever comes their way compared to Marvel's more focused approach (at least with the properties they haven't sold off like X-Men, Spider-man, FF, and Ghost Rider). Black Widow and Hawkeye were fine. They didn't distract like Storm in X-Men and they filled their roles of vulnerable human fighting along side superheroes.
-
You really dont know shit about Green Arrow do you icanthavethat. He actually a dark character
-
Please do not fix my grammar or spelling. I like coming off like that. I want to speak like the people and fanboys on the internet act. Wow it funny how you say Marvel is doing so good but yet they had to let Disney bail them out and help them. Like I said Avengers Box Office is not a win for Marvel it a win for Disney and Wedon. Also vulnerable human fighting along side Superheros. You must be joking right. They where doing things no mere mortal could ever do. They where killing and kicking what where supposed to be advanced alien asses. That was a total distraction. Sorry but Avengers to me was the same movie as Transformers was. It looks the same and had the same feel and plot as well. Just a little different. But people ate that up and as you can see ate this up to. All style and no substance.
-
I'm saying it clearly worked and was clearly planned. Not haphazardly put together like DC's movies have been. That they're rebooting Batman and doing a Green Arrow show called Arrow is enough proof of that. And how were Hawkeye and Black Widow not vulnerable humans? That was the main freaking complaint about them from everybody going into the movie. WTF are Black Widow and Hawkeye going to do next to Thor and Hulk? Shoot bullets and fire arrows? That's they're vulnerable is what makes Batman or Green Arrow interesting vs. Superman. Especially in a setting where you can't throw millions in CG at the screen for every battle (like a TV Arrow show) and probably the only reason anybody would tune in to this if it was done well.

Him: I bet if you put inflation into account then I bet you money Dark Knight put more asses in the seat than Avengers. Me: That much disparity of inflation between 2008 and 2012? Let's hear it for Obeymenomics, people!
