‘If We Are Capable Of Being Gods!!’ Chat Here About Tonight’s Nimoy-Enriched FRINGE Finale!! And The FINDER, BOSS, BLOODS & CSINY Finales!! Plus MAHER, SUPERNATURAL, GRIMM, NIKITA, More!! Oh, And The Premiere Of USA’s COMMON LAW!! SWEEPS DAY 16!!
Last week David Robert Jones was vanquished again and the long-missing William Bell confronted Walter Bishop again. And we’re told Olivia Dunham must die.
Tonight could be the last for “CSI NY.” The smart money says one of the CSIs will be shitcanned when CBS announces its fall schedule Wednesday.
“Real Time With Bill Maher” roundtable guests this week are commentator Margaret Hoover, journalist David Cay Johnston and issues strategist Grover Norquist; national security expert Richard Clarke and actress Eva Longoria are interview guests.
Premiering tonight:
Common Law, from screenwriters Cormac & Marianne Wibberly (“I Spy,” “Charlie’s Angels 2,” “The Shaggy Dog,” “G-Force” and the “National Treasure” movies), is an hourlong about “two ace detectives who are forced into couples' therapy to save their work relationship.” It stars Michael Ealy (“The Good Wife”) and Warren Kole (“24”) and Sonya Walger (“Lost,” “FlashForward”) as their therapist.

vomitous resume right there. I-spy the movie? G-Force, the super spy Hamsters?! Sweet Christ on a broomstick.
-
The show has become very interesting the last few episodes. The Winchester boys (hotties!) are up against arguably their toughest baddies ever. Will the boys survive? Yes, for at least one more season! Woot!!

dasaroo, I'm going to give "Common Law" a try, if only because.................................
by axcel1
It's on USA, I don't watch all original programing on USA, but, the ones I do watch, Psych, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, White Collar, do not disappoint.
-
Its sad that after that there will only be 13 more, but at least we get that.
-
Cold and rainy so going to skip the bars and plant myself on the couch. Cannot wait! Contrary to some, I have really enjoyed this season. I really hope someday soon this series finds its way onto cable on a daily basis. I have a feeling if you watch all the episodes straight through (not with 2 month gaps in-between... Thanks Fox) that it will make it an even more amazing experience.
-
Oh, my socially savvy supercelestial seductress. The sun shines and accentuates your ultracool and unequivocal uniqueness. Men bump into sign posts watching you walk. What they really should appreciate is the way you talk. You are art personified. And of that they are petrified. Your brain is a weapon of mass seduction. I just can't wait for your next verbal production. The suspense is killing me. So inspire me once again, you busy bee. Now turn your back to your monitor and let me massage your neck and shoulders. Close your eyes, my quintessential queen of quintuple(+1) quality. I love your perfume, by the way.
-
I'm probably going to be bashed for this, but I really don't give a flying f*ck knowing who is on his show. Not all of us like to watch one-sided political views with little to no humorous reaction. If HBO keeps renewing this POS Maher, how about bringing back (for example) Colin Quinn show (like Tough Crowd) with real comedians talking about issues? THEY (Tough Crowd) HAD polar opposite views on things and it was funny. Bill Maher is a extreme left-wing douche who assists the "President" and lounges his putrid ass at the Playboy Mansion fondling girls 1/4 of his age. F**king pervert.
-
Man i hope this show doesn't get canceled. Its a quirky investigation show that warrants another season.
-
Alliteration is a technique applied best sparingly.
-
Jealous much? I think if you were a millionaire celebrity who could spend your time at the playboy mansion, you would. That's called living the dream, my dude.
-
is turning out better than I thought. Last week i thought it took a couple steps towards being a decent show. Admittedly, the first 4 or so episodes were ho-hummers. Then again, Spartacus was pretty bad the first 3 or so episodes, and ended with an awesome S1 Finale. I'm willing to stick with MC a few more episodes.
-
they built him up all season as this brilliant, supervillian and that's the way he goes out?...fighting a guy 30 years younger then him on a rooftop?...why didn't he send a lacky to do the job?...he deserved better...and that Olivia shadow-fighting power with Peter was corny...that said I love the show but needed to be honest about that I think Nimoy agreed to come back to the show at the last minute thereby they had to wrap up the Jones arc quickly and didn't give him the ending they had priginally planned
-
Olivia catchin super bullets! Nice.
-
How the HELL did she do that with her eyeballs!
-
Not so fast with THAT bullet, Olivia.
-
They shot that scene 3 of for times...then wiped between two sides of her face indetectibly. You were watching multiple performances by Rebecca Mader melded into one. They just wiped between her forehead and the bottom of her nose. Her mouth was left intact from one performance... for dialog purposes.
-
and cringe worthy with the operation
-
Pacey is a PLAYA!
-
While i really enjoy the few episodes where we see the Fringe kids get a happy ending, this was obviously the series finale with the last scene added on after they got picked up. That said, I freakin loved it even though I saw the solution coming So glad that we'll get a chance to see the gang again--maybe/apparently the Observers are coming early? How Rude
-
Is how you set up a return to the oddity of episode 19--could have been a series finale. Well done. Chris Carter could take a few lessons after the clusterfuck he made of the mythology arc an finale of X-Files.
-
Ya get Bell back...Ya get Olivia's death & resurection...ya get Walter saying Asteroid's name correctly. Ya get September giving long exposition scenes. Ya get Nina joinin the Fringe team...all wrapped up in a neat little bow.
So glad they get another season to explore that bow unravelling all over again!
-
May 11, 2012, 9:10 p.m. CST
The finale was adequate. Pretty much sets up S5 by the numbers.
by zillabeast
Questions remain, like what did Spock want with The Obsever? How did he know about the runes? What device was harnessing Olivia's energy into merging the universes? Why would Nina head the Fringe science division and not Walter?
-
May 11, 2012, 9:12 p.m. CST
I guess figuring out what happened to the original timeline is irrelevant now.
by zillabeast
Bigger fish to fry. I understand that Peters sacrifice last year reset things, but what's to keep them from doing it again?
-
Plus...he would drink urine if he was thirsty.
Nina is head of Massive Dynamic and has a bionic fucking ARM!
But...the way she laughed when asked...I got the impression she was saying "Ha! I'm in charge of a multi-billion dollar corporation! Why would I want a low paying gov't job?"
Agree with ya on the original timeline. A baby...a home together...the dual universe problem solved....why try to restore it?
Oh...yeah... September's cryptic message to Walter. Looks like bringing up baby might be safer in the original timeline...considering "THEY" are coming.
-
Yeah.. I was wondering/realizing as i watched last week's episode that I had totally forgotten that even though Olivia now "remembered" 60% ish of the original timeline--it had NOT been reset in anyone else's mind or in actuality.
-
Yeah... i prefer the original sliced in half by Peter closing the gateway on him death
-
Looking forward to it! End the series on a high note, Fringe!
-
I too figured Nina would scoff at the offer. I miss how Walter inherited Nimoy's billions in the original timeline. It would have been fun watching him blow some cash.
-
You are certainly entitled to your opinion about Maher, so I won't be bashing you. But if you don't want to know who is on the show, then simply don't read that paragraph. It's that simple. Nobody is forcing you to read who is on the show this week. There are people (myself included) who do want to know who is on the show. It's one of the things I watch on Fridays, so it makes sense to cover it here ... ESPECIALLY when there isn't much else on. Not every article has to be about the things that you and only you like.
-
The best line of dialogue goes to Supernatural. *please..... Dick.*
-
What if Massive Dynamic has been working on bio-replacement parts for people with severe brain injuries?
Might be a nice send off for Walter next season if he gets to end the series "whole" again. And...I'm not sure who the "THEY" is that are coming to stir up shit from the future next season...
But, I'm guessing Walter might need ALL his brain power to save the universe this time.
-
May 12, 2012, 12:32 a.m. CST
Jesus, Supernatural is still on? Thats a bigger shock than what happens to Olivia. Huh.
by dahveed1972
-
That truly did feel like a series finale. Not satisfying though. Just final. Looking forward to next year. !!
-
*See you next season.* Loving the last few Supernatural episodes. Some of the magic is back.
-
Didn't Desmond liquify Walter's missing brain tissue and have him drink it?
-
Just love how all these pieces have started to piece together. It's just crept up upon me, but everything just came together, some really outstanding moments. shocking to see walter do the deed. the man knows his shit, bitch slapping peter into reality! Nimoy is wonderfully evil. Madders eyes in this were crazy! FOX, you need to start promoting the fuck out of this show. So glad they got renewed. MOAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
To bad about that show. Last nights episode was a pretty good one. I think where they made one of their biggest mistakes was not giving more time to that woman that hid things.
-

Next season should be half leading up to their arrival, half in the future
by brechtsky
We need to see the lead up to them ambering themselves, and then we need to have at least a few episodes in the future to wrap it all up... CANNOT WAIT!! Couldn't have asked for a better last season premise.... I see why everyone says it felt like a finale, but it would have been a let down to me ... Maybe not before letters of transit, but after that episode I'm very glad the finale wasn't a bunch of scenes on a boat and a happy ending thanks to the suddenly regenerative cortexaphan, which was pretty lame IMO .... although I did like the idea of creating the new universe and Nemoys ark... That was dope. Actually though, who knows, they may take a different route with next season, and have it be all about avoiding that future, and them ambering themselves.... Although I really like the idea of just going balls to the wall, tons of crazy scifi notions next year.... And future premise would be filled with tons of fun little scifi gadgets and moments, plus it fulfills the promise of the observers playing a truly significant role, and really explaining and "observing" them and who they are.... Plus more future gets us more Desmond!

So was Bell behind "the Pattern" in the original timeline too?
by cookylamoo
If so, why didn't Olivia know all this evil stuff when she shared his brain?
-
If you aren't sure who "they" are--the ones September saw "coming" when he examined the future, watch episode 19 "Letters of Transit" again--it will explain fully. It will also give you a Walter with his brain completely intact, by the middle of the episode.
-
Good Question & my guess is that just like many things were altered due to Peter being "erased", while others stayed mostly the same, that the same thing is true of Bell--meaning that the original timeline Bell may NOT have had this universe creation plot in mind. I dont recall it ever being said that he had lymphoma & of course, we dont know if the new timeline Bell spent many years living in the other universe as the original one did----so, I think they were just 2 versions of the same person & it illustrates how erasing Peter had a butterfly effect on the entire reality--another example being that Olivia was raised by Nina in the new timeline, but not in the old
-
the guy who Olivia said was the person who would kill her...the producers stated that this would be explained by the end of this current season...what happened?
-
What a great finale! Olivia definitely went Neo with the bullets like I was reminded of last week! It certainly could have been a series finale, but I am so glad it was not. It was pretty sweet to see Broyles get promoted to General and see the beginning of the new and improved Fringe team like it was on the other side. What if Walter was too late in shooting Olivia, in that the universes started merging on a non-physical level where things are pushed forward like Broyles getting promoted??? Or maybe the events Bell started are just merging the timeline at this point?? I was totally thinking Olivia would start speaking in her Belly voice when she hugged Peter in the hospital. I thought that was why Bell rang the bell was to hide in her body, knowing Walter would bring her back. Maybe that is still a possibility since she wasn't around in 2036 and Bell was.
-

how many people did the rmlfdbcetc. prick Maher offend last night??
by jay2517
i dont know yet. i'll have to check my DVR. that man is truly a fucking piece of shit. but first, its off for 2 for $3 egg mcmuffins. if i have to watch this lying, fact distorting bigoted piece of shit, it will be on a full tummy...
-
Perhaps it was Walter all along. I don't think Walter was in that dream/mind sequence, if I remember right. Olivia may not have known exactly who killed her either.
-
Though I've seen every episode I have NO memory of this dream/vision sequence y'all are referencing where Olivia 'saw" her own death--when did this occur?
-
it was from the Season 3 episode 19 episode titled 'Lysergic Acid Diethylamide'...it was the animated episode where Bell is still occupying Olivia's body and they are trying to get him out...inside the blimp a man wearing a t-shirt with an 'X' on it attacks them and rips a hole in the blimp causing Walter to fall out the last scene has Olivia telling Peter that the guy with the X is the guy who is going to kill her
-
Dude--you have a good memory. Now that you reminded me i CERTAINLY remember the episode, but not that specific incident. I may have to break out the S3 DVD;s & re watch that one later. THANKS AGAIN!!
-
Granted, being a Fringe fan doesnt mean that you're a DC animated fan...BUT--I just gotta say Young Justice is freaking awesome. Season 2 jumped 5 years into the future & I was just watching Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl & Robin (Tim) fighting invading aliens along with other members of the Titans & JL--TOO COOL & some of the best DC animation yet & I say this as a huge fan of all the older series': Bats, Supes, JL & JLU
-
I have a few unwatched Fringe eps on my DVR collecting dust. That must be one of em! It's hard to keep up with Friday shows... to many opportunities for drunkeness get in the way!
Glad to hear that Walters full genius may(?) get restored. Ya wonder if Walter, had Bell not performed meatball surgery on his brain, would have turned out evil...and turned out more like Walternate.
-
I'm pretty sure thats exactly why he had part of his brain removed. In an earlier season, someone, maybe Billy or Nina said he did it because he was afraid of the man he was becoming.
-

batmancw - I agree - to me Young Justice is just flat out one of the best shows on TV right now - If there were a Saturday talkback, I would discuss it there - it is brilliantly written, directed and the artwork is just do finely detailed- like a little movie- every week!!!! And FRINGE WAS BRILLIANT!!!
-
Did they ever say what happened to him? For some reason I don't have any memory of him being killed off. He was just...plotting with Lincoln about investigating walternate then he just seemed to be gone.
-
There was a throwaway comment near the begining of the season about him being on honeymoon with the bug lady. In reality he's on another show.
-
I agree that overall the Young justice is better. I loved the design of the original Bruce Tim simlified designs on Batman through Justice League, but now that Tim is producing everything DC at WB and allowing other artists to art direct things have changed and varied a lot more from the different voices being able to create shows now. I also think that the awesome direct to video designs/movies are rubbing off on to the TV series.
-
i think next season she's going to use them to stop the observers
-
I thought with the cortexiphan out of her system, she'd forget her feelings for Peter. But thank god, that didn't happen. Couldn't take anymore angst.
-
too series finalely for me. also that helicopter scene was done horribly. too talkey, too expositiony. also eww mader eww honestly with how it played out, s6 can be pointless. one season doednt seem like a good idea with everythin wrappin up neatly last night. if they get more seasons, then cool. but only one is redundant ps: bell should've died pps: is nemoy a bad actor? I never watched sstar trek so I dunno. is he being hammy, overthetop, or dooes he just suck?
-
It was probably just the CGI of her eyes going separate ways but I had to look away and put Fringe on mute because I thought Bell might have put in a self-destruct in the woman's brain. She looked like her face was about to self-destruct. Redhead splattered all over the place, especially on Peter, Olivia and Nina.
-
All the stuff with September was cool. Lots of clunky exposition though, but they made it work. Walter shooting Olivia was pretty shocking and having Bell back made it seem like a finale. That cliffhanger was cheap though. This "they" have been coming since half way through the season, would it have killed them to tell us who they are? I too had a horrible feeling soul magnets were coming back at the end. Thank God *that* wasn't the set up for season 5. On the whole though season 4 has had some really great episodes but the ongoing arc was a bit of a dud. Peter disappearing from the universe was a cool idea with little pay-off, Jones wasn't anywhere near as interesting as before and if that really was the last we've seen of the other universe then it's disappointing. Glad they have a final season. Go with the set up from episode 19 and give us a fitting send off Fringe writers! One thing though: what happened to all Bell's henchmen?
-
Please tell me Bell did not say: "Yes, Walter. We cut those ideas out of your head to literally put the genie back into the bottle." Because that bad english literally sucks . . .
-
I thought it was entertaining. Their psychiatrist is sexy as hell.

It is obvious to anyone with a speck of intelligence that your insights are brilliant, moving, and incredibly accurate. I have never come across a person who possesses such powers of reasoning and intuition as you. You are an outlier beyond the range of normal human beings. It's as if you were created to inspire humanity to strive for perfection - a perfection that you embody with each and every masterful post. I am truly humbled that you would deign to speak to little ol' me. I worry that I'm not worthy of attention from such a glorious and profound master of locution. I am forever in your debt.

Yourstepdaddy - I completely agree with you. Supernatural was awesome last night.
by I_Love_LanaLang
The show has been on a fantastic run for the past few weeks. The storyling has gelled very nicely, and the actor who plays Dick Roman has been superb. The show's good form has me looking forward to next season with a lot of optimism.
-
not jokin either... but yea, the past few weeks been good. I think fans/complainers always focus on the middle part of the seasons where nothing happens. but when stuff happens, it happens big
-
....and yet the bigot thinks hes somehow relevant...
-
While I'm glad to hear there will be more Supernatural and Fringe, I was unsurprised but still disappointed that they cancelled Finder. It was goofy fun and I looked forward to the engaging interplay between the characters. The only thing I watch on FOX is the Simpsons...and that's only to tide me over until Futurama comes back in the summer.
-
I just realized myost might seem to imply that I think Supernatural is on fox, I know it's not.

Great stuff with Walter remembering Astrids name and his plan to stop Bell by shooting Olivia.
-
that its starts in the future with Peter, Walter and Astrid working to send Henretta back to the past ether psyically or to inhabit someones body like Bell did last season to warn the current Fringe team about more details and the Observers attack and season 5 will be like Terminator where they try to change the future.

Could it be that Mr. X is Bell? The episode that we saw Mr. X was animated so its not much of a stretch that Mr X could be a younger version of Bell?

That scene fucked me up. One of the most bizarre scenes I've ever seen on TV.

hope ur mom has a good mothers day and hope ur condition is improving :)
-
I hope both of your mothers have a great day. I enjoyed Fringe. It is definitely a show that I'll have to catch the early seasons to have a full grasp, but I enjoyed the episode. Seeing Nimoy on there was great. I'll catch you guys later. I've got some very large rib eyes to throw on the grill.
-
yea, ive been putting off watching Fringe for forever. i just dont have a lot of time for ANOTHER 25(?) episode series. i think ill wait till its done maybe. i DO love shorter shows like The Walking Dead, Dexter, Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire. i don have to devote a whole lot of time for those. rib eyes eh? im going to cook some pork chops from a pig we bought and dressed out. plus, i have some meat from a cow we done the same with. its crazy how much better they taste without all that stuff added from the grocery store steaks. ill have to let u have some.

I'll end up doing the same with Fringe. That's the way I watched BSG. As far as my regular viewing, The Walking, Dead, Game of Thrones, and Spartacus are my favorites. Can't wait until the new season of the Dead starts. As far as the groceries go, sounds good to me. I love a good steak. I am still in the process of moving, so it might be a couple of weeks before we can have that beer. So...I take it that when you want to catch an IMAX movie, you go to The Grande on University?

before me and my gf broke up recently, she was going to take me to one. i didnt even know winston had one until we went and watched my Florida State Seminoles play Wake in baseball couple months ago. we need to have a Walking Dead watching party or something, like how they did back in the good ol Lost days. we could rotate cooking out.

u said u lived in belews creek.

i gotta tip my horns to the writers of fringe. Top notch writing, loved the last eps of this season's arc. My #1 rule for any show you need a good bad guy. i.e. Benjamin Lynus! I still think it's a copout that we're only getting 5 and 1/2 seasons instead of going the distance for the full 7.

I grew up in Walertown/Belews Creek. I moved down to Columbia for a couple of years and I am now moving back to Winston. My GF is a nurse and is finishing up at Davidson CC this fall to get her RN. I just signed my lease yesterday for an apt. in Winston. A Walking Dead party and cooking out sounds good to me. You really do need to go to the Grande and check out the IMAX. Best way to watch a movie if you ask me. We have a few coming up this year that I will be going to see. TDKR, Prometheus(sp?), The Hobbit, etc. We can catch one of those.

Regarding Fringe's "THEY ARE COMING" line. I know who it is ...
by Gene Cowan
"They" is referring to an army of Gene the Cow clones, trained to kill anything and everything. Trust me, I have a source.

In fact, I barely watch TV. Pretty much just Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.
-
Prometheus would be cool. im not much on 3d though. u go in the afternoons or u a late evening, watch with a huge crowd movie goer?
-
I prefer the smaller crowds. Less chance of idiots and their cell phones making an appearence. I saw The Avengers at 4:30 and it was a decent crowd and thankfully everyone was on their best behavior. I'm not a huge fan of 3-D, but the sound and the total package makes IMAX my favorite venue.

I had no idea Nimoy was back and it was Awesome!! He did a great job and the last two eps were great. I told the wife that I figured they planned the last one as a finale... just in case. I considered shooting Olive but... Walter played that out well. It was surprising but needed. Great to see Nimoy back unexpectedly... and can't wait for the last 13...
