Lots of primetime news for NBC, which officially announces its fall schedule next Monday.
* As Alec Baldwin has been long hinting, word is the next season will be the last for “30 Rock.”
* All returning NBC sitcoms – and we don’t yet know which will return beyond “30 Rock” – are expected to get half-season orders. So if “Parks and Recreation” and/or “Community” return, they will be on a short leash.
* “Revolution,” the action drama from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company about a world suddenly and mysteriously depleted of energy, has been ordered to series. This is NBC’s first Bad Robot series since “Undercovers.” Jon Favreau (“Cowboys & Aliens”) directed the pilot from a teleplay by “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke.
Also just greenlit to series:
* “The New Normal,” a sitcom from Ryan Murphy (“Glee,” “American Horror Story”), is about a gay couple who hire a waitress to incubate their unborn baby.
* “Save Me,” a sitcom from writer-producer John Scott Shepherd (writer of the 2002 Angelina Jolie comedy “Life Or Something Like It”), stars Anne Heche as a woman who many be channeling God.
* “1600 Penn,” a family sitcom about The White House from writer-actor Josh Gad (“Gigi: Almost American”), co-stars Bill Pullman and Jenna Elfman.
* “Animal Practice,” from Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka (who wrote the 2011 Jonah Hill movie “The Sitter”), stars longtime “Weeds” player Justin Kirk as an angry veterinarian.
NBC previously ordered to series:
* “Go On,” a sitcom from Scott Silveri (“Friends.” “Joey,” “Perfect Couples”), stars Matthew Perry as an irreverant sportscaster who joins a support group.
* “Hannibal,” a prequel to “Red Dragon” and “Silence of the Lambs” from writer-producer Bryan Fuller (“Dead Like Me,” “Wonderfalls,” “Pushing Daisies”), follows serial killer Hannibal Lecter and FBI profiler Will Graham when they were a crimefighting team.
