Houston! What Is Best In Life? CONAN THE BARBARIAN This Friday, That's What!

That poster above is HitFix's exclusive Mondo poster for the Alamo Drafthouse's CONAN THE BARBARIAN Summer of 1982 event. Those tickets for Austin, unfortunately, are sold out. That poster, along with the variant, which can be seen at the above link, will be sold in Austin the day of the screening on this Friday, May 11th.
However! You can still contemplate this at the House of Draft on Friday here in Houston! Sadly, we won't have the Mondo posters for sale, but we will have this amazing movie, some games and some prizes, and fun will be had by all. We're screening this both at West Oaks and at Mason Park - West Oaks at 7:30 PM, and Mason Park at 10:00 PM. Hell, you can double-double it if you want to see the other cars driven before you and hear the lamentations of the other drivers across West Houston if you're that much of a fan. So, Friday night, Houston, by Crom!
And if you do not come, then to hell with you!
Stay tuned, Houston, because we're going to be acreening many of the Summer of 1982 films on the roster, the same night as Austin for some of them. It's going to be truly great.

I'm hoping we get a sequel to the savaged Conan Reboot from last year. Jason Momoa was fucking awesome as the brawny Cimmerian. We just need a decent script!

you have it just because you are a Thronetard (Game of Thrones fantatic). I like him as a standard barbarian, and the action was often good, but a fucking Samoan guy running around in a fucking skirt is not Conan. Go read some RE Howard, and you'll see that although Ah-nuld was not perfect, he was the best Conan so far (and that was the best Hyperborea) in terms of what was presented in the books. READ. The new Conan movie was a generic sword and sandal film, at best - 80's style.

always fail miserably at what they want the viewer to focus on. Art school 101 is strong line of action in your poses, keep it simple and have the eye focus on 1 thing. Mondo always make our eyes go everywhere, not to mention the lack of depth and constant fail at perspective.

Nice transfer, but did they *have* to fuck up the soundtrack by omiting the choir in several passages of Basil Poledouris' magnificent score?

Arnie barely speaks and makes for the dumbest version of Conan ever. The costumes are laughable and the external set design almost non existent. Without the music the film is a 100% pedestrian slog through mud! ..one black guy in the entire land, frak in the entire movie and he's the villain?

There arent many black people in them and a lot of the time, they are villians. Though I will say he wasnt really a racist, at least not like his homeboy HP Lovecraft. Hell I even think Howard tried to talk Howard out of some of his more radical leanings... then again a non strange, non radical Lovecraft wouldnt really be lovecraft now would it?

The script and director let Mamoa down. He was perfect for the part as anyone who watched the first season of Game of Thrones will attest. He was very Conan-esque as the great Kahl Drago. I would like to see him get a chance to play Conan again...perhaps as a bloody Starz series?

Conan and terminator (maybe predator). Try making your kids watch any other Arnold film. It's a joke. "Julius, I am yo bruddah", WTF were we thinking back in the 80's? We made a movie star out of a guy who said "It's not ah tumarh" and "ahhl be bach". It's kind of embarrasing explaining to your kids that Arnold was a movie star who could barely speak English. The films just don't stand up unless he's a barbarian or (German for some reason)robot. California (God love the state that's been stoned for generations) made him Gov. Bwah-ha-ha-ha!!!!!
