NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH Gets A New Title And Red Band Trailer!!
The Kidd here...
In light of the whole Trayvon Martin debacle here in Florida, 20th Century Fox has axed the NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH title on their sci-fi comedy starring Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade. The last ideas they want to invoke when people might be considering buying a ticket is hoodies and Skittles. As a result, they've pared it down to simply THE WATCH.
In addition, they've released a new red band trailer for the film (via IGN), probably to help distract from the name change with plenty of discussion about big dicks and cum. No, seriously...
The teaser for the film didn't offer up much, but now at least we're getting a sense of the type of humor we'll be getting on July 27. Needless to say, this isn't going to be for everyone, but there's enough good stuff contained here to keep me interested in seeing more.

by DonLogan
Can someone explain what that means please?
-
was really contrived. I liked it better when I saw it under the title attack the block. Just saying....
-
Black English nerd. That's all you get.

I don't know why, but I've always had a good feeling about this movie. Loved that trailer! Will be seeing this!
by ChickenStu
-
Ben Stiller, you are just terrible.
-
It sounds like Skrillex, but I am not sure. Anybody out there know for certain?
-
Put down a comic. Watch the news.
-
I was thinking of sending a review in so I probably should have but the main part of the after movie questioning was if the title reminded us of the Trayvon Martin shooting and most people said no... I guess the big wigs watching us via live stream thought we were lying. Really funny movie though.
-
Seriously? Sounds like a sequel to "The Notebook" or something. At least "Neighborhood Watch" gives you SOME idea as to what the film might be about and is genuinely descriptive of what IS in the film. Damn I hate it when they do crap like this. "John Carter" anyone. Anyway, the trailer looks great. Love those guys.
-
First off: Go to hell, don't pigeonhole a gifted actor just because of his skin color Secondly: Besides the glasses, how do we even KNOW he's a nerd in this one? did he say or do anything particularly nerdy? NO. He could be a Hipster for all we know!
-
Oh, you have the guy from The IT Crowd? Sold!!!
-
Like I said saw this last Tuesday for test screening. Awesome cameo from our favorite drill sgt. in the movie and Ayoade plays more then just a Black British Nerd in the movie.....
-
It is Skrillex the song is "Bangarang"
-
Ever consider that maybe the Trayvon Martin case hasn't been covered here in England to the extent it has in the US? So although i'm familiar with the incident, the hoodies & skittles reference didn't ring any bells. Thanks for being a complete twat about it anyway.

Is it just me, but do Stiller, Vaughn and Hill look about 10 years older than their actual age?
by openthepodbaydoorshal
Get some sleep guys.
-
I will watch this just to see Moss. RIP IT Crowd

"How about we add Skrillex?" "Sounds like a plan, Johnson!"

Of course executor wouldn't consider that, don logan, because he's an American cunt.
by Roger Moon
-
...yet they're terrified to put him in the trailer.<br><br> What's that? Black English guy? America will lose its mind!<br><br>More paunchy aging white dudes & their hilarious homophobia! STAT!
-

donlogan, in the amount of time it took you to post your inquiry and response, you could have Googled Trayvon Martin + skittles + hoodie.
by P
Yeah, I know. You couldn't be bothered. But you had no problem asking everyone to be bothered to explain the reference to you. Anyone in the information age who asks such questions is either a) too lazy to look it up for themselves b) seeking attention via feedback c) trying to express how they are above the frey of everyday news, aloof, etc.

Rev: you only need one character when that character is THE MOST AWESOME.

Ayoade: best sitcom actor I can think of.

This movie is going to be awful, but I'm more concerned that Jonah Hill is now set to play Jonah Hill opposite Dicaprio in the Wolf of Wall Street.
by Pvt. Duke
But if Moneyball is any indicator, all he'll have to do is play it grim-faced without telling any dick jokes and he'll probably get an Oscar nom.
-
I just like Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller working together. They crack me up, I defy anyone to say that didn't laugh hard at Dodgeball.
-
I was annoyed just by the stupidity of the trailer! Image how bad the whole movie is!?

fuck sake, the guy just asked a question, wondering if his fellow tbers could shed some light..
by paul burnett
..an he just gets shit.Fuckin hell, you really are pathetic.
-
If this movie even samples the dark violent tone of Observe & Report, even for a minute, I'll be happy.
-
The film might be better but straight men joking about taking cock up the ass, putting two hands on a customers big dick and touching green cum just not my sense of humor. I remember being suprised by the high amount of gay references in Starsky and Hutch too and without getting too conspiracy theorist I often wonder if this kind of comedy has an agenda. Just a worrying trend that's all. I'm not here to start fights,, no right or wrong, just an opinion.
-
... except that's not what he played or came across as in either "Garth Marenghi's 'Darkplace'" (which he also directed) or "The Mighty Boosh" -- two of his best-known works. In fact, he's only arguably played that particular character in "The IT Crowd".</p><p> That said, Ben Stiller + high-concept/big budget summer comedy = a world of shit. This will likely make MEET THE FOKKERS look like GHOSTBUSTERS by comparison.
-
...that the secret agenda of 'Starsky & Hutch' and now 'The Watch' is to promote homosexuality? <br /> That this film starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill [and Black British Nerd Richard Ayoade]...<br /> ...is quietly trying to promote homosexuality?<br /> If so, that's awesome. You're awesome. I don't have a word to offer as far as an argument. Shine on, you crazy diamond. <br /> (PS: Re-watch District 9. It advocates lesbianism.)
-
I remember the audience gasping at that scene when it played at the cinema since he died just before the film opened. I wonder if there'll be a scene in The Watch where an alien wearing a hoodie is shot or a rainbow colored alien is shot..would it still be funny? They should still call the film "Neighbourhood Watch" and just have a disclaimer saying THERE ARE NO AFRICAN-AMERICANS IN THIS FILM, FOR YOUR COMFORT, WE GOT THE BLACK FELLA FROM ENGLAND!!

So this is the reimagining of Pulp Fiction story The Watch...
by Tikidonkeypunch
Starring Johah Hill as young Butch and Vince Vaughn as Christopher Walkens character. Ben Stiller will play the dad in flash backs as he sticks the watch up his ass to hide from the Viet Cong. It's more of a darker, serious tone where all funny actors are hoping for an Oscar nom because they finally dialed it down instead of playing an immature fucktard in every single role they got.

EVERY SINGLE joke in that trailer was about dicks, gay sex, or semen.

Bring back the Hays Code. Seriously. I'm sick of "comedies" that think bodily functions are automatically hilarious.
by No Respectable Gentleman

would be more appealing
-
I'm sorry, but green alien spunk is marginally, at least, chuckle-worthy.
-
Another "they said a naughty word, tee hee!" comedy. Looks like crap.

What is it with all the foul foul/graphic language?
by Emperor_was_a_jerk
I dunno... to me that's not comedy. It is very easy to be dirty and swear and get 14 year old boys to laugh. But I would like a little more thought and cleverness in my comedy. If you want to see where foul language works to PERFECTION, watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles and see Steve drop the F BOMB the way it should be used!
-
Pretty sure it's "Bangarang", but maybe a special edit/loop without vocals... I could be wrong.
-
The original title was better, more appropriate to the character and the ads were better; this now looks like a totally different film. One which looks terrible.
-
i have not liked a lot of his movies but lately i have grown to like the guy. looks funny

Seeing R Lee Ermey in this makes me cringe. Think of your legacy, sir!

-
I guess Kevin Smith didn't completely destroy his career. Maybe next time, Kev.
-
the jokes all feel like the director just told them to bs for 5 minutes and see what they come up with, and every joke they came up with involved dicks. Way to go. I'm being generous by saying it feels like improv, only because I'd hate to find out dialogue this stupid made it not only onto a script, but from the script into the movie.
-
it's not ripe. It appears that Jonah is beginning to eat too much of it again though...
-
Fuck that movie was and is a masterpiece. Anyways, can someone please tell me how Hill was nominated for his job in Moneyball? Honestly why? Why is he getting such great parts? He had 1 page of dialogue. Now he is being put right next to Leonard like he is Pesci next to DeNiro?? Come on. Maybe i should turn Jewish.
-
they'll blame it on the title controversy.
-
21 Jump Street I think set a record for the most number of dick jokes in a movie...Now here he is talking about dicks again. Twice in one trailer. Not saying the man is gay...Okay yeah I am.
-
"How many dicks is that?" "A lot."
-
...but hey. At least Vaughan ain't fat no more.
-
Rather have cancer. I remember when dubstep had, you know, some element of DUB in it. Fucking Squarepusher-wannabe emo cuntbubble.
-
But I'm sure that it'll do fine with it's group-home target audience.
-
Oh no Jonah hill caught the droopy eyes syndrome from Vince Vaughn!!!! It's an epidemic!
-
If youd seen Garth Merengi's Dark Place or Man to Man with Dean Learner you would know this.
-
Ayoade plays 'more than the nerd' eh. So it turns out his character is an alien then.
-
technically, they'll call it renarned
-
-- Thanks bin laden.
-
a nigger tried to rob someone's house or something, got killed. president's mixed race so we have to care about thieving niggers now. that's all. the skittles and hoodie thing is irrelevant.
-
Bin Laden carried out 9/11. Those two used it to turn us into a nation of paranoid pussies.
-
fucking hell. I only asked politely what that reference meant, didn't expect any of the abusive responses i got. Certainly didn't warrant that horrible shit you just spouted.
-
I ALWAYS thought Kevin Smith was gay. You can't talk THAT much about dick and poop shoots and not have some kind of preoccupation. I think it's funny a lot of the time, but at a certain point any rational person goes... hmmm... dude, what's up with that? I actually think a lot more men, especially wannabe tough guys, are gay than maybe they themselves are aware of. It's almost a cliche to say the one calling everyone a fag is probably gay, but I'm sorry, I think there's a shit load of truth to that. There's a whole discussion here that I even hesitate to get into, but at some point, it needs to happen cause it's fucking hilarious and there's nothing 'dudes' dudes like Vince Vaughn find more threatening than other people thinking they're gay.
-
I know gay gays who laugh at us straights, that doesn't make them straight. I support gay rights, gay marriage, all that gay stuff but a guy taking it up the ass as long as it's not me, is funny. Sorry. It just is. But then I and the guys I run with laugh at everything. People who actually hate, like Santorum, oh they love teh cock.

That was awful. Fuck every one of these washed up hacks.

Except the black guy, I don't know him and he didn't piss me off in the trailer. Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Ben Stiller, you're all beyond terrible.
