Exclusive: Check out Mondo’s Adventure Time poster by Dave Perillo!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, yeah, I got to meet Pendleton Ward last night and maybe I geeked out a little bit and maybe we talked about MMOs and maybe I had a cup of Sprite with jello in it and maybe it was delicious and maybe I had a great time at the Mondo gallery looking at a bunch of different artists’ interpretation of Ward’s bizarro Adventure Time universe. Maybe.
Okay, you caught me. I definitely did all those things.
Although Mondo’s Gallery was decked out with multiple dozens of pieces of art there was one print that wasn’t included and that’s Dave Perillo’s show poster for the big Adventure Time Feast that’s going on right this very minute. Everybody who bought a ticket gets this mathematical poster, but you get to see it first!

Dave Perillo’s poster is 24x36 and limited to 245 pieces.
So, there it is. If you’ll excuse me, I’m updating this using a brand new brain-chip that allows me to just think about an article and BAM it gets published… I’m actually sitting in the theater at the feast as this article goes live. How cool is that? This technology is still in its early stages, so forgive any articles that pop up announcing me hitting the Powerball or marrying Carey Mulligan…

It's probably the best cartoon out at the moment, but you can tell the guys behind it can do SO much more.
-

wouldn't it have been better to put one's own style to it?
by zom-bot.com
instead of, you know, just recreating the characters as is?
-
And I like this poster.

Great fucking show. Love it. This and Regular Show feel like something that should have came in the 90s

hate them so much

Wish those were all on when I was 10. Theres some pretty imaginative animation in the mainstream these days.
-
and so does my cranky partner who usually hates everything. Sometimes we imitate Tree Trunks to each other. Really, I'm so stoked to discover Quint is a fellow Adventure Time geek that I'm not even going to demand to know WHERE ARE QUINT'S HOBBIT SET REPORTS

Imagine someone's shock when they find their dog managed to get that last piece. Cool art and all but I gotta second the Mondo hate. But likely not for the same reason(s). Mainly that is - why call it a shop if shit you sell is overpriced or out of stock within days? "But it's a specialty shop" doesn't cut the mustard here - because if it did, La-La Land Records would release 5 overpriced releases a year at ~200 copies max and nothing else.

2 posts just popped up. One was you marrying someone during Powerball and the other was about you hitting Carey Mulligan. yipes. I feel a bugfix coming.

Harry's promise to make this site better after neglecting it last year seems to have fizzled out now he's posting his strange clips on you tube, if it wasn't for that kidd guy AICN would be virtually dead...
by cameron
...seriously, the biggest year in movies for as long as i can remember and this site is at it's dullest.....
-
...is one cool guy, and I speak from direct experience. He did a great commission for me a while back (it was a combination present for my significant other and, what would you call it, "pitch" art for a comic team of superheroes) and he deserves every great gig he gets. Nice to see him make this page. Rock on, Dave P!
-
You aren't alone. Hit Choppah or me up sometime on twitter if that's your game. @shutuptres, @iamchoppah....lots of AICNers have formed a sort of chat group there. It's fun.
-
Great guy. Good friend of mine from the Pittsburgh Comicon throughout the years. He and his wife are expecting a little one any day now and he deserves all the success he can and should get. GO DAVE!
-
And why does the guy that does the Dog basically use the same voice as he does for Bender.
-
I would never have guessed they were the same voice talent...

Love Adventure Time, Like Regular Show, Hate Gumball
by johndalf greymane
From ep.1 I took to Adventure Time and could tell it would only get better.* The tone was perfectly quirky and all the expanding characters rock. Ice King is the best "Sympathic Sociopath" antagonist I can recall. As someone mentioned above, I myself do a pretty good Treetrunk, too. Regular Show has grown on me. Wasnt a big fan, but all the dorky 'hair metal' attitude and 80s reference has warmed me to it somewhat... oddly enough it was the character Pops that sold me on the show. The wrestling episode and the poetry v. rap episode did it. My daughter does a near perfect Pops, and at random will announce, "I can taste the Himalayas!" and the affirmative reply to any question is almost always, "Yaaahyuuuu!" Gumball sucks. The animation style is original but I hate nearly all the content. A cartoon about spastic over-reacting children REALLY IS for kids. *(Animation shows seem to do that. Look at early eps of 'Family Guy', 'American Dad', 'King of the Hill', 'Simpsons'... and out of the wayback machine, 'Wait till your Father gets Home'. Whatever your current opinion on any of these, youd likely admit that they took a while to hit their stride)

The people who create posters are not artists they are nostalgia profiteers.

I wish they'd do another episode of the girl-fied version of Adventure Time...
by Prof. Pop-Cult
That was really cool, because the flipped gender versions of all the characters worked. It would be even better if they just produced a spin-off of it, and considered it to be set in a mirror universe to the original.
-
Nothing. I shouldnt say anything bad, i hate doing that about other artists but.... come on.
-
I like the layers of characters, i like the minimalist style (the show and its characterization are still pretty fresh and any interpretation might go wonky and miss the mark), I like the overall Lady Rainicorn border... The bottom half is ass and seems tacked on/phoned in. Leave the "Adventure Time" title, drop the "with Finn and Jake," Add a row of all the short characters instead. If this is a limited run only, issued to those attending, no one who cares about it will need all the text to know what it is. They also did not include Gunther, so... fail. His is the most evil soul I have ever encountered.
-
When they stop producing limited editions, let me know. But currently, with the ridiculously small print runs on most of their items, there's really no point in bothering with the company. Like someone above said, it's just hipster speculation. Buy a super-limited print for the sole purpose of "flipping" it on eBay.
