Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
I hate Alien3 as a franchise film. Hate what it does to the story set up by the first two movies, hate the star-driven “I’m tired of this Alien shit” ending. I hate that it feels like they wanted to make a standalone sci-fi monster flick and seemed to shoe-horn it into the Alien franchise.
But removing the butt-hurt franchise feelings, it’s an impressive movie. I just wish David Fincher could have told his Alien-ish sci-fi story about a woman who crash lands on a floating prison full of rapists and murderers and not killed Hicks and Newt off-camera.
The acting is great, especially from the Charles’ (Dutton and Dance), the photography is spectacular and the effects are fantastic. The standalone animatronics are great and Fincher took the limited model work of Cameron’s film and expanded it, thanks greatly to the CG replacement technology Cameron helped spearhead.
