What Does Ain’t It Cool’s TV Critic Think Of THE CABIN IN THE WOODS?? Listen And Call In LIVE At 8 p.m. PT Saturday!!
UPDATE!! For those who missed it, four out of the four people on the roundtable hailed "Cabin in the Woods" the best movie seen this year. So see it already.
ORIGINAL POST:
Every Saturday night for the last two months or so I’ve been quietly guesting on something called “Ask Mr. KERN,” a radio show out of California that most of the time quickly wends its way to Geek Matters.
One of the key topics tonight is “Cabin in the Woods.” I’m told we are going to start slow and work our way into FULL SPOILER MODE.
The radio show airs 8:05 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific Time.
No matter where you are you can listen to the show LIVE by hitting the “Listen Live” button at kernradio.com.
Best of all, you, constant reader, can join this very nerdy conversation.
The toll-free call-in line is:
1-800-640-5376
Call in drunk, as I always do, but watch your language. This is not a podcast. This monster goes out over the air on all 50,000 watts of Central California’s KERN-AM.
Be there. Mahalo.

Since it seems to be an am station, I was, well... expecting

more right-wing parroting. But nope, entertaining show so far. Having fun listening. Great stuff!

ROFL!!!

I resemble that remark.

Great to hear that mentioned. And some love for M Night's older work. Especially The Village. Jeeze, even the score of that film was outstanding. I refuse to apologize for liking his films. The last 2 of his though? Hmm. I think he's reading too much of his criticism, or not enough. Hard to say. But something has shifted in shipping if you know what I mean. And Amazing Stories was severely underrated. Wasn't there even an animated episode of that.... Family Dog?? Or am I mixed up? Fun show so far, Herc.

Take slow, steady breaths and take your time. That's too many different kinds of media going on at the same time. Check your I.V. and oxygen tank. Remember, you are the Mighty Hercules! And not a well man.

Mr. KERN might not want to reveal himself, but thanks so much for everyone listening in. I'm glad my Spanish Prisoner comment was met with love. -Mike

So I'll have to drop out before I get spoiled. I'll save the link and maybe I can listen later after I've seen the flick if there's somekind of podcast or something on the site.

AND... we have a winner!!! I was just making the observation the other night about the over-the-top negative talkbackers on this sight. This thread gets it's first one. Congrats, Capt. Power. What is it about you types of talkbackers that inspire you to spend time out of your day to bitch about things like... oh, say... that the writer of these columns doesn't write what YOU want? Are you aware, Capt. Power, that between web sites and blogs and such... that there are probably THOUSANDS of t.v. reviewers out there? Anyone of them would be happy to gain another insightful person has yourself has one of their faithful readers. But I imagine, like most of the other jackass, talkback bullshitters that post on this site, you feel that it's "your right" to post what YOU WANT here. Instead of ingaging in a conversation, talkbackers like yourself want to let everyone else know how wrong they are, how misguided their opinions are, how only YOU and YOU ALONE know what must be talked about and why. My, how we have struggled without your input, Capt. Power. I wonder if the store clerks that don't check out your items the way you like, or the store itself that doesn't carry the exact things you're looking for, or the people you work with (you DO work, Capt. Power?) don't do their jobs in a way you deem correct, suffer your wrath in the same way. And your family... oh, my. I wonder what words you have for them when THEY don't live up to your high and well thought out standards? I bet it's not pretty. I personally know quite a few people that visit the internet often. I have never met one... not ONE... that would at least admit that they rant... and I do mean RANT, Capt. Power... to talkbacks on web sites. I have a theory has to WHY we never meet these people in the streets: It's because people that would spend time on the internet slamming shit they could easily find elsewhere are socially inept and shut-ins and have no real life to be happy WITH. There can be no other genuine explanation. It begs to be said then... why would I spend time talking back to such a person? Do I fall into the same category? The fact is, Capt. Power, is I have many friends, a blossoming successful career, and a nice girlfriend. And I don't rant on talkbacks, though I do like to engage in conversation. I write this today because your act, like the act of so many on this web site, is old. It's old, tired and sad. And I know for a FACT that anyone that posts the garbage like you do on ANY of these threads is a dyed-in-the-wool loser. I would end this little tirade of mine by wishing you a long and happy life, Capt. Power. But that would be a waste of time. Like the waste of time to complain on a movie web site that they should change what they do... cause baby is upset and needs his bottle... and his shitty pants changed.
-
And his post went away... damn-to-the-it.
-
I missed the show.
-
I'm told they're very close to posting the old shows. A good thing; it's quite a good series (whether I'm on or not).
-
As I stated originally before... I rarely post anything in the talkbacks. The post that was deleted (because lord knows they are rarely deleted anywhere else on the site) stated clearly... I RARELY POST IN THE TALKBACKS. It had nothing to do with anything than HERC proudly proclaiming something he spends little time doing here. Apparently it hit a nerve since it had to be deleted. Its been lovely.

And of course YOU in YOUR wisdom are great and wise enough to pass judgement on me. I don't think there is anything wrong with calling out HERC who advertises himself as the AICN TV Critic for not reviewing television or posting any of the features that have been a mainstay of the COAXIAL column for a number of years. If you are not going to do the job you are claiming the title for, then step away. Whether he reviews anything I like or do not like was never the issue. And yes there are hundreds of sites where I can read those reviews and I have been to them. It just riles me personally (I wouldn't dare speak for anyone else here) when someone throws a title around and then doesn't do the work the title implies. Out of all the headlines to the right on the main page... how many are reviews? Two? How many shows air in a given week? Dozens? Seems like there is a problem with ratios here. Yes, I could have expressed myself in a much different fashion. That's a given. End of story.
