Marvel Re-Assembles THE AVENGERS For A Quickie One-Night Re-Shoot?

Robert Downey Jr. threw junketeers for a loop Thursday afternoon when he let slip that The Avengers would be convening later that very evening to shoot one last scene for the film. This, of course, was ludicrous. They'd just held the premiere the night before, and we all saw what we assumed to be the film's "stinger". Even though the quick turnaround is entirely possible in today's digital wonderland, surely this was just Downey being silly.
Nope. Though director Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige were quick to call bullshit on Downey's statement, multiple sources - including an unabashedly on-the-record Mark Ruffalo - quickly confirmed that the one-night shoot was scheduled, and that the scene in question would turn up at the very, very end of THE AVENGERS. As for what happens in said scene, I wouldn't expect it to be a major reveal. This will be more of a curtain call.
Unless Marvel is trying to break some kind of Guinness World Record, I doubt this scene will be seen at the fan screenings this weekend. Since I'm not allowed to officially review the movie yet, feel free to check out my tweets from Wednesday night. They're non-spoilery and quite positive.

Where the little alien Whatevertheyare's chief speaks to their "master" and tells him that Earth should be left alone, only to have the camera pull away and show the master as Thanos with a smile on his face? That's what I "heard" anyway. But that doesn't sound like the others would be involved. Unless it's in a background type shot... Haha. You humans and your internet.

Angelina Jolie opted out on the big budget superhero movie bandwagon and got stuck in "Sky Captain" and "Tomb Raider" and "Alexander". In the 00's they were all trying to copy LOTR's success. If she wanted, they would have cast her in every other X-men, and as Black Widow maybe even in Singer's Superman.

That if I were to go off with the unbelievably crazy obsessed... watching trailers over and over and over and over - and just searching the Twitter stream and seeing that EVERYBODY WHO HAS SEEN IT has shitting themselves excited syndrome. The crazy awesome love is just - so fucking awesome. AND - if Edgar Wright is doing Dr STRANGE, I'm just gonna cry happy. Because I can absolutely imagine the insane awesome film that Bill Pope and he would make, and if AVENGERS is the next step blockbuster that I want it to be, perhaps Disney will realize the scope and scale of this opportunity to unleash astonishing levels of asskicking, while making supremely entertaining characters... it is like a crazy fanboy dream. AVENGERS is one of those projects that I'm just roundeye boyish on doing the peepee dance with my desire to see it.

Suddenly, the wall explodes nearby and the camera pushes in as the dust clears, revealing Ripley's albino half-alien baby hybrid from ALIEN RESURRECTION is standing on the other side. It's goofy-assed three foot long dog tongue unfurls as it unconvincingly mouths: "Not ALL the aliens!" CUT TO BLACK.

I heard they "have" the skrulls but not "super"skrull!?!<P> Don’t know how that shit works.<P> Its weird . like about 5 years ago marvel comics kept hammering it in that Namor as !THE FIRST MUTANT (tm) !!!!! even though he is not the first mutant, and as far as I’m concerned not a mutant at all, it’s almost like someone from FOX paid off some of marvels writers to hammer this new status quo home so that FOX studios would have movie rights to the character. <p> I can see why Marvel studios didn’t go with the skrulls this time around. Skrulls are shape shifting bastards (among other things) and It would probably be a disservice for them just to be invading in the standard alien invasion way, If it was skrulls, the invasion would be exactly the same , except for an uninspired ,generic scene, shoehorned in an illogical, stupid way. Just to keep the fanboys happy. Like for example, like a few of the shield agents reveal themselves as skrulls at a critical moment. Groan! I think standard ,unspecified aliens are fine (for now) . skrulls are cool and all, I just wouldn’t want them done in a venom from Spider-man 3 kind of way.

Besides TDK, which is less of a comic book movie and more of a crime drama, what is there to spoil? Origin of the hero, origin of the villain (which is already covered in this case). Bad guy does something bad, good guys do something good, good guys get beaten, someone gets kidnapped final battle, good guy wins, roll credits. Sit through credits for the post-credit scene. Go home. Sorry for the spoilers.

fury gathers the avengers around him in a secluded room and tells them that they are involved in an extra scene at the end of the credits shoot. and that an extra scene at the end of the credits is an extra scene at the end of the credits, and that there is going to be a break in between films and a break between films is a break between films, but they should all be ready because war is war and aliens are aliens. and that secluded rooms are secluded rooms.

Extra scene-perhaps to be added to the DVD release & not the upcoming theatre version?

Could be an add on moment designed with a purpose to link another super-hero film with the Avengers. It may not have any relevant standing until the 'other' movie shoots etc. Then when the DVD swings by it may help with some transition. I know these type of things don't usually happen like this-was just an idea that my old brain conjured up. And boy is it old.

Oh, it could be Spider-Man if Sony was on-board. Why wouldn't they? Free advertising for their movie, and different film companies have cooperated many times in the past if it served both their interests. While I doubt that Spidey is in "Avengers" it isn't impossible, and would be a great Easter egg for the fans.

His character would be the only one that would make sense in the context of the city. I could definitely see Sony agreeing with Marvel on the sole principle of building some good buzz for this new iteration of Spider-man - lord knows they need it.
