How About Some Images From THE DARK KNIGHT RISES To Brighten Your Day?!
The Kidd here...
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is on the cover of this week's Entertainment Weekly Summer Movie Preview issue, and, along with that comes a handful of images from the much-anticipated finale to Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, courtesy of Batman-News.com.
There's not much new to see here, as we've seem some iterations of these images before... however, I'm sure that's not going to stop you from getting excited, because it's the fuckin' DARK KNIGHT RISES!!
The one thing that is a bit fresh is this new image of Tom Hardy's Bane, in what appears to be a financial institution of some sort, perhaps Gotham's Wall Street, where it's apparent who's in charge at the moment.
July 20 can't seem to get here fast enough.

Seriously, why is Cillian Murphy so fucking under-utilized in movies? He was easily the best part of Begins, was awesome in the 15 seconds of screentime in TDK. Bring him back for the reboot! Moomba has Spoken!

It's the same batsuit from Dark Knight... alterations are minor

In fact, the costume designer said the alterations aren't anything noticeable, just for movement. So calling it a "new batsuit'' is misleading.

Rumor from a set spy says yes that his Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow character is back for at least one scene. The scene is a mock courtroom where certain Gotham Citizens are put on trial by the escaped criminals. Scarecrow is the judge.

I know this movie's not going to suck, but whenever I see Catwoman it exudes suck-i-ness. Now, Sean Young's Catwoman, on the other hand, would have been batshit crazy--no pun intended.

my interest level is now higher for the dreadful looking Amazing Spider-Man. I really want to fall in love with what I'm seeing, but am left feeling bored to tears and underwhelmed. Personally, I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the worst at this point. Guess the proof will be in the pudding. We'll see.

Anne Hathaway looks good as Catwoman! I what I have seen of her in the costume so far...now if only it was more shinnier looking...like the way Kate Beckinsdale's costume looked as Selene in the Underworld series...either way I would have loved to have been Anne's wardrobe assistant :)

@thedudeinla--NO, Bane will NOT "hulk up" as he is often shown doing on cartoon versions
by batmancw
In this movie Bane has to wear the mask to deliver a drug that keeps his constant pain at bay, & I believe, as a result he feels NO PAIN. He is described as a brutal fighter, etc in earlier articles about this version of the character but NOWHERE has it been said that he would get bigger & that type of scene just doesn't fit with what Nolan has done in this trilogy. So--no BIG Bane--just a BAD ASS Bane

I think Catwoman's costume is the best one yet in a Nolan bat movie
by Mattman
Not that costumes are the reason to see these movies (outside of talkbacks, characterization and acting is far more important, thankfully). But I dig the Julie Newmar look, meshed with the thigh-highs from the nineties. And the long, free flowing hair is sexy as hell (even if it isn't very practical).

To the suit haters--It LOOKS like TDK suit, so what differences are you seeing?
by batmancw
That aside, IF you watch the extras on TDK DVD they explain WHY the redesigned suit has the Piecemeal look--it's how the type of ceramic plates that ARE bulletproof, but inflexible, can be used on a suit where someone actually has to be able to move as freely as possible & the under-suit is a fireproof & fairly bulletproof weave as well.

I would much rather have Bruce wear the body suit, but cover it with cloth so when he gets burned, shot, what have you, you see rips and the awesome suit underneath. DKR's suits (Batman, Catwoman) look so dumb. Luckily won't stop the movie from being tits though.

...we have Bane looking like he's gonna set fire to the Stock Exchange on Wall Street, Batman using iPad tech to do whatever he needs to do, Bruce wearing his daddy's old robe, Bruce staring at Selina's pearl necklace, Catwoman breaking into Saito's relocated safe, and "John Blake" looking off into the distance at something. If Nolan can still manage to find a way to make all these images connect in a non-perverted/bizarre way, the man's a genius!

Nolan's filmic version of reality. The high heels are impractical. The mask hides nothing. The cat ear goggles are cute, but a little cheesy. The thigh boots over a leather catsuit reek of fetish cosplay. It really isn't much of a step up from this: http://tinyurl.com/75pdvbu Nice try, but I really DID expect something a bit more realistic and practical out of Nolan.

by Bedknobs and Boomsticks
Also, Bane is the worst Batman villain ever. Why the fuck would you set a movie around Bane?
-
I agree with that on some level, but in this day and age where the next shiny thing will instantly grab someone's attention, I'm afraid nothing is a sure thing anymore.
-
Your comparison is completely premature. Just like all the other people on here who pretty much have seen the movie and know what's going to happen and think that because Bane isn't a CGI hulk or a wrestler in size means he'll suck. Execution of the story, and a story we know nothing about is what makes a movie good. "Hulk" had a big CGI Hulk, did that make that movie good, Fuck no!!! Nolan is a better storyteller than people give him credit for, he's no idiot, at least see the movie before ripping on it.

...which is pretty logical, you'd rather he was running about in a grey body-stocking? He's got no powers, one shot and he's done!! Of course it looks a bit dopey under lights, but in the shadows it would shit you up! As for Bane, I have every faith Hardy will bring the intense menace he needs, yeah I'd rather he was a Kane-sized wrestler but for screen presence with a loco thousand yard stare, he is up there and he is a more than decent actor. Not sure why they ditched the luchadore mask tho, it's not that outlandish if they approached it right. We shall soon see if it stands or falls, be nice to actually have a solid comic-book trilogy, the 3rd always seems to take a dive.

Pistol Whipped what police force wheres anything that looks like Nolans Batman armor?
by some dude
Not even swat teams where stuff like that and there is a reason. Despite all the mobility stuff that Armor looks clunky as shit. The reason batman doesnt usually wear tons of armor is he's meant to be fast and stealthy and the more shit you've got on the heavier, less mobile and slower you become. For a guy who is supposed to be jumping between buildings and such that would be a pit of a problem. Not many parkour or free runners are wearing bulky protective armor because its more a hindrance and a help. Also its fucking batman, he doesnt just go running straight at guys with a gun. He often sneaks about taking them out one by one and scaring the ever loving shit out of them in process. Hell have you played arkham city or Arkham Asylum? Batman is the night, not the punisher or robocop.

Shit my girlfriend is a cute asian chick and no super model but I still have the opinion that Maggie's brother is better looking than she is. Hell she isnt even that great an actress but that's beside the point. Hatheway is hot but she's got that real white bread look about her and a good body wont change that. Again pretty but forgettable.
-
I completey agree, she's super hot and the casting choice made sense from a hollywood standpoint. But yeah, it would have been cool if they took a chance on an unknown Russian hottie. But yeah, Milla Jovovich would have rocked, and had the little short haircut like BW has in the comics
-
Batman can easily dispose of hippies, armed or not. I hope Bane's master plan is much more menacing than ruining a few Banker's day.

Well, when it comes to superheroes costumes are pretty fucking important.
by Kill List Hammertime
Batman, Superman, Ironman, Thor... all their costumes are iconic. So surely it's ok to criticise them in movies? Like I said, I still think the film will rock, but costumes are a massive part of it.

Yeah, I played Arkham and he's wearing armour, look closely, there's rivets 'n' stuff in his outfit!
by steve lee
I said the armour was lighter-weight, which is what he was after in Dark Knight, this version looks like an evolution of that, super light as poss. but retaining padding over organs etc, which is an ideal compromise between flexibility and protection.
-
April 12, 2012, 7:55 p.m. CST
Man that police armor looks a bit silly, looks like the pads people wear when body skating or whateve that sport is.
by some dude
Why dont people just skip all this hockey pad stuff and go to the real next level and give us some god damn power armor already. I know the government is working on it, just strap some Uranium to that bitch and you've got a walking tank. Fuck pepper spraying Occupy Wall Street, they can just brutalize them with giant metal fists and chain swords.
-
April 12, 2012, 7:57 p.m. CST
Well the armor in Arkham Asylum/City is more of a stylized version of his grey body sleeve.
by some dude
Its not there are giant segments of padding such as the Dark Knight Rises. Its still a fabric or sheet but its impregnated with some sort of very well bullet and other forms of damage resistant polymers etc.

by rev_skarekroe
Not too bad. Way better than the Halle Barry one. Hopefully they'll actually CALL her Catwoman at some point during the film.

That costume on Hathaway is waaaaaay too 1960's. It's all super gritty and realistic until we get to the PURRRRRRfect cat burglar. Meeoowr.

@ the_hawaiian_stallion: What? If he wore the grey body stocking we'd be back to Adam West era, forget that!!
by steve lee
In the game, he's still heavily armoured, look at his gauntlets and boots for crying out loud, the suit also looks bulky, it may not be divided up but it's still clearly armour, agree to disagree on this one!
-
http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/055/055050/img_8553726.html The "normal" armor is all the way on the right of the picture and despite it having rivets, which most of my jeans have on them, doesnt really look anything like the bulky mess that is Nolan's. Yes its armor, its batman he's not going in their naked, but he does look like he's wearing any kind of swat team armor. Once again its a stylized version of his body sleeve. Its not straight fabric but its not like he's going out to play hockey.
-
He'll be more Mad Stan-ish than Bane-ish for this final entry. Anti-establishment all around
-
he's totally wearing Morgan Freeman's suit from the previous photo. props department trying to save a few hundred bucks.
-

I hear ya, but I don't think Nolan's looks particularly bulky now, just segmented, it looks pretty light to me...
by steve lee
...I'm just sayin' I'm fine with it, I kinda like this utilitarian take on the outfit, but I will always prefer the classic look too, especially Millers, for this vision though, I think it fits in nicely and works better on-screen than charcoal grey sweats or a rubber-nipple suit, but whatever works for ya bud!!

I am still a fan of the original trilogy and grew up in the 80's with Star Wars fever in my blood. Never did I even think that the 2nd Death Star was larger than the first. I guess maybe somewhat larger. Where did you get that impression? I don't know every line in the trilogy by heart, but I don't recall them ever explicitly saying it's larger in the film. NERD ALERT: ( you've been warned ) I do see that according the wookiepedia that the Death Star 2 was a little over 550% larger than the original (900 km diameter vs. 160km diamater ) but according to the citation, that is taken from the book "Star Wars: Complete Locations" published in 2005 which may be SW universe canon, but not movie canon.

My theory is at the end Bruce Wayne gets crippled or killed and JGL's cop character has to become the new batman
by Rebel Scumb
Way off the path of the normal bats mythology, but I think within this trilogy it fits, and sort of goes with the whole Azrael story with bane as well as batman beyond Otherwise I just don't get what they're going to do with JGL's character. It seems like he must be in this for some reason

-
Looks waaaay too complicated, like my daddy always said,"keep it simple stupid!" that new suit don't look bulletproof.... Bane Lame, and.... Anne Hathaway might have not been the best choice.... give us a new trailer! PLEASE!
-
this movie's going to suck because of the BatSuit??! have none of you realized this is the EXACT same FUCKING suit from a movie called The Dark Knight? yes, the suit ruined that movie too. my only complaint about using Bane is that we have had two Batman movies now with Bane, and no "KnightFall" storyline. although I guess eventually they could still do that storyline (after obligatory reboot) but without Bane. Bane's a badass, but he really isn't the point of the whole KnightFall arc, Bruce and Jean Paul's relationship and Jean Paul's mental descent are the "point" of it. Bane just makes it all possible. but I'm sure there's more than one way to "Break the Bat".
-
And she is literally hot. Makes sense.

No one is saying the movie will suck because of the suit, just that suck kind of sucks.

I dont think anyone is commenting on the writing, just some of the costume design is getting a little silly for a movie trying to sell a gritty realistic version of super heroes and villians
-
worked fine last time. seriously, I understand people don't like the suit, I honestly do. but people are reacting like it's a brand new suit that's drastically different from the last movie. here's the suit from the last movie: http://www.moviemonkeyshoot.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/batman.jpg honestly, where exactly is the difference?

Nothing, the suit was pretty fucking ugly last movie as well, and the bat rasp sucked in Batman Begins too!

Again, the movie itself will probably good but there are some shitty elements. Hell Nolan cant shoot actions sequences for the life of him, they're often overly confusing, not very well connected and overall just poorly done. Still the movies are pretty good.

re: "scratchmonkey twice the size? Where did you get that impression?" I remember it being said around the time 'Jedi' came out. Don't remember where, exactly. Could have been pre-movie hype/interviews, could have been in one of those big softcover photo-book things that used to accompany big films, or even something like a sticker book. Novelisation? No idea where, exactly. But it was definitely supposed to be twice as big, according to, well, someone or somewhere c.1983. I think the only reference to its size in the movie is probably the Emperor or someone, when they say that's it's bigger and more powerful than the first Death Star? It's been a long time since I watched the movies, to be honest.

This could be the greatest movie trilogy of all time...
by Righteous Brother
Godfather - Blew it in the final part. Jedi - Ewoks. Mad Max - Kids. Superman - rubbish comedy part 3. Alien - Rubbish Alien3 - the less said about resurrection the better. Spider-Man - part 3, terrible emo dance number. X-Men - Ratner part 3. To pick some random bitching here: The Suit - at least he can move in it, pretty important for a crime fighter, no? The Movies Title - is that honestly going to spoil the film for you? Bales jaw - Is that really an issue, looks ok to me. Catwoman not being armoured - What do you want her to be walking around in fucking Kevlar? She needs to be nimble. If these issues are really bothering you, don't fucking see the film. Me? I'm there opening night, and I cannot fucking wait.

by steve lee
...although admittedly it looked pretty good at the time in Bats '89, just doesn't work if you're going for heightened realism. I concede his cowl needs a bit of work tho, fat-head! The ace thing about the Bat-World is it's open to the artist's interpretation to a degree, look how many different versions of the Bat-Mobile and Bats himself in the 'toons and comics there have been, hell, Burton's Bats killed people in Returns with a cheeky grin, and that's against his whole code! Just roll wid' it I reckon
-
if it happens it's going to happen early on in the film. I'm sure it;s how they're going to establish Bane as an almost unstoppable force. He's just going to stomp Batman in their first encounter sending him off with his tail between his legs. Bale is walking with a cane in one of the trailers. I'm sure he will overcome and the "rises" is a reference to his rise to prominence as a respected and well known protector of Gotham. Dragging himself publicly out from under the renegade label he placed on himself at the end of the last film. If you recall he's still largely considered a myth. By the end of this movie he will be the Justice League super hero face of Gotham.

As long as he has a cape and pointy ears and kicks ass--it works for me. I do think the Arkham City batsuit is totally badass and would look awesome in a movie. Hell, make Arkham City INTO a movie! That would be awesome. We need some stand-alone films, too. Kind of like Bond films used to be. Some of the best comic books are the one-shot issues.
-
I hope they keep this mostly apolitical. This isn't a Right/Left thing per se; we have enough divisive elements in the culture, if politics are 'your thing'. I don't need Batman turning into a lecture on 'OCCUPY'- style politics. Just saying. PS - I can live with SJ as Black Widow, but to me, the Widow, facially, should look... more dangerous? A look more like Milla, or Angelina Jolie (not suggesting Jolie for the role -in citing her 'look')

What we cant complain about aspects of a movie we're looking forward to? This is a talkback jack asses.
by some dude
I enjoyed the Dark Knight, loved it when it came out though after numerous viewings I can say that its not perfect, far from it for a variety of reasons. Its not like others havent mentioned the problems either, hell I've seen videos where cinematographers rip apart Nolan's care chase scene from the middle of the movie, the one with the garbage truck, semi, etc. and his arguments are perfectly valid and make sense, the scene is a mess and seems to work because of that, you're almost so overwhelmed by what you see you can barely register the problems and mistakes. For example, how about the fact that the number of vehicles involved in that chase changes from second to second. One moment there are numerous cop cars... and the next there are none with no reasons or shot as to what happened to them. They're just gone. Hell maybe I should bitch at you guys for defending a movie none of you have seen except for like two trailers, leaked pics from the sets and some promo shots.

@sub_legacy, 'It reminds everyone that it's more than just a tight leather suit with a Kato mask and kitty ears.' - in fact, that's exactly what it is!
by kevred
The 'high-tech material' and 'flip-up high-tech goggles' are nothing more than an excuse to have this actress in a catsuit with a mask and cat ears. If the suit was really "more than that", surely "realistic" Nolan would have made it look different, right? I'm not saying it's bad to have Catwoman in a Batman film, but this is where the "realism" canard falls apart. When the film shifts to things that are obviously fantasy, grim realism takes the fun out of it. I predict this film will be where people realize that Nolan's approach ain't perfect after all. Good, but not definitive.
-
Your entire premise relies on accepting that the first two Nolan Batman films were as good as Star Wars + ESB, Godfather I + II, Alien + Aliens, Superman I + II, and Mad Max + The Road Warrior. None of those things are even the slightest, remote bit true. Nothing in this Batman series is fit to shine the shoes of any of the films listed above. Nolan's films are striking, surprising, elegant, stylish affairs. Remove one Joker from them, and they are just another series, with some extra class balanced out by some extra pretension and self-seriousness. Good stuff, very good in some ways, but not Great.

by CodeName
Classic Nolan ambiguity. Characters will talk "deeply." Identities will be questioned. Bane will be short. Batman will be short. Stiff fighting. Batman's growl versing Bane's growl. Catwoman trying to make a point. Caine hamming it up. Weird plot holes (Batman's forearm spikes borrowed from Ra's al Ghul's symbology, who still have living minions that know who Bruce Wayne is, and are still alive and can snipe Bruce any day now) that work in favor of the antagonists. If I was a loyal Ghul servant from the beginning, I'd know who Batman is because of his gauntlet. And.. Batman wouldn't be Batman by Part 2. This plot hole of Wayne using Ghul's spiked gauntlets from the first movie is atrocious. It's the killer of Wayne's intelligence. Please, Nolan fans, you can't be apologetic about his. What? A Ghul follower was empathetic and decides to talk to all of the other remaining Ghul survivors to leave Wayne alone for the sake of making more sequels? Case rested.

Emma Watson. Oh Yes...don't let her French blood lines and Ivy League resume fool you..., look into those doe like eyes and innocent face...and looking back at you will be a young woman who not only knows the joys of a just trimmed English Wood, but one that also knows the the fun to be found between her peaches and Cream Buttock...or as she came to know it in the pubs of Oxfordshire after shooting Half-Blood Prince; the "Devils Pitch". This weekend in fact...Ms. Watson is coddled in the Ritz-Carlton in Los Angeles while on location for the shoot of "The Bling Ring"; and being a method actress she is...Emma is diving into her character ass first. Sporting a tramp stamp, muscle splitting claws and typical California Slut attire, Ms. Watson is exploring even deeper her secret passion for improper penetration in order to discover her characters true motivations. The light of Staples lighting her otherwise dark room, Emma slithers off her short shorts after a days filming; not bothering to take off the animal print stripper heels encasing her dainty feet as she moves a chair closer to the plate glass window to better enjoy the view. Taking a sip oh her sparkling water she plops down, the soft leather caressing her bare ass as she excitedly drapes a leg over the overstuffed arm, while placing the other high on the glass wall...her delicate fingers admiring her own baby smooth legs, so long and coltish, enjoying the feel of her fake nails tracing the back of her slim but toned calve down to the back of her taught thigh. Emma bites her lip as she feel the familiar ache spread from her quickly swelling clit surge through her lower body, catching a slight scent of her sex as she moves her fingers to part her engorged, sparsely thatched pussy lips...massaging them and pulling them apart to help release her tangy sweet nectar. Emma writhes and lifts her hips slightly to let the sweet flood stream down her taint, licking her own lips as she feels the slick, thick honey coat her pulsating asshole...moving her fingers achingly slow till she feels the long faux nails scratching at her still fresh and pick 22yr old backdoor...both hands now wrapped around her own ass...pulling her silky soft cheeks farther and farther apart as the desire to penetrate herself and release her inner whore takes control, her hips bucking, pushing her stiletto clad foot into the glass and lifting her ass off the chair she pushes her talon like middle finger past her defenses and plunges it deep into her own tight shitbox...her soft, shrill whimpers filling the room...as she imagines strangers in the building across the street watching her...knowing she is capturing the essence of her State Side Character. Explain how Nolan's re-envisioning of giving Ra's al Ghul's bat forearm spikes to Bale is not giving him away to the survivors. Please, in Willy Wonka fashion, explain how this has not killed Wayne Zeta-style by now. I want to hear your logic, Dioxholsters_Ghost.
-
Please explain why Ra's al Ghul's minions hasn't sniped Wayne by now since your Nolan is bent on realism whereas I am fine on fantasy aliens taking on New York. I am fine with going outside the boundaries, but when your so-called director (Nolan) is so fixed on a realistic Batman.. at least explain why Nolan's Batman is still sporting Ra's al Ghul's "bat spikes" when it could give him away. "Hmm.. I am against Nazi's, I was trained by Nazi's, but I will put a "swastika" on both of my forearms to fight crime." Yeah, great logic.. right, Nolan defenders?
