New AVENGERS spots and clip for the day!!
Hey folks, Harry here... I'm going into that zombie mode where as a fan, you just keep rewatching trailers and drooling... I can not wait for AVENGERS. It just looks exactly like what I hoped it'd be. I mean - check these tv spots out and see how you feel...
then there's this clip from Letterman last night featuring the character of Agent Maria Hill played by Cobie Smulders - who dares to question the badass cyclops of SHIELD, NICK FURY!!!
So - where does the line start?

First clip "These people...*sound break*...are isolated" are two different people speaking the line....
by john
Terrible sound editing, espeically considering that Sam Jackson says "are isolated." no clue who says "these people," but clearly they are just two lines badly edited together.
-
Also saw The Three Stooges today. If you loved the old shorts, you'll probably like it. It wasn't bad at all and I laughed quite a bit. Not the best film ever, but also not the train wreck I was expecting it to be.
-
We have Captain America telling The Hulk to Smash. How fuckin' cool is that? Honestly, did you ever really think you'd see that.
-
April 10, 2012, 8:08 p.m. CST
The clip sucks because they edited out the set up and we only get a brief glimpse of Ms. Smulders' smokin' gams
by mdk
-
That's the sound Disney Exec's and these actors accountants are hearing in their dreams.
-
I excitement.
-
The Avengers will bring the fun, The Dark Knight Rises will bring the drama. It's like apples & oranges...

Like hoe they've downsized the Hulk from like 15-20 feet tall to the more traditional 7-8 feet
by mdk
-
Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.
-
(wait for it) BADASS!
-
It seems as Whedon has decided to humanize The Hulk as he smiles and obeys. Will we be seeing conversations between Hulk and Cap? I wonder how that will work out on film. Banner has never been able to control the Hulk, but in this film he gets trained by the Cap himself. Joke I will see this for what it will be, a fun laughable action movie whos budget will not project any true quality.
-
Avengers is a great popcorn flick Batman is great theater it's not rocket science Speaking of which, Prometheus is both
-
...from clenching in my seat with excitement for this movie. Hope its as good as it looks.
-
We live in a world where Avengers film is actually being made. Does that mean 50-100 years from now there will actually be a superhero team in real life called Avengers? From comic books to radio shows to TV shows to movies to actual fucking superheros
-
Grant Morrison was right.

I thought I had IMAGINED Cobie Smulders was gorgeous...
by DukieMichaelNamondRandy
...guess I was wrong about that. She's smart, goofy and Canadian. of COURSE she's gorgeous!

Clip 3 with Cobie Smulders... that some shitting acting and framing. I'm suddenly not optimistic.
by Stereotypical Evil Archer
Not shiny Whedon, not shiny at all.
-
and more guns and less talky talk. is comic book fury this kind of bland chatty cathy? hes like a walking writers plot tool.
-
Does no one else notice their turtley resemblance? Jeremy Renner is like a hot Maggie Gyllenhaal.
-
Hulk talked. While Im pretty sure Banner did not ever control the Hulk, he was his own guy and did talk, think, and reason, even if you want to say it was only crudely. "Hulk smash!" is HIS line. They did have to accelerate his development (Banner meditation sequence at the end of the movie) so he could work on a team and stay "goal oriented." I havent heard him speak in any of these clips, so maybe he comprehends but responds only in directed mayhem. Did Ed Nortons Hulk speak at all? maybe a "Betty" near the end of the movie? cant recall. Hulk size. While in Ang Lee's movie, Hulk tended to be too big, classically, the Hulk got bigger and stronger the madder he got, so 12 foot tall did happen, but it wasnt the default. Looks awesome. cant wait.

As in how it relates the plot.

Digging Scarlett in these clips. She's got the tone right
by smudgewhat
Because the tone is implausible and fun.

Classically, Hulk did not grow to 12 ft tall. That was a movie thing.
by deelzbub
7 ft tall and 1000 lbs is what I remember.

Yeah, but when Hulk hit the 80s/90s, he's 12 feet tall, at least
by Al
Dale Kewon's Hulk is the definitive Hulk design that's the standard now.
-
How tall will Thanos be? *fingers crossed

April 10, 2012, 11:54 p.m. CST
I think a 7.5 foot hulk is good. 8 tops. Looks around that.

and thank god they went a semi-lucid Hulk. Giving him a personality (beyond sad/raging child monster) is just as critical as the cgi.

I think everyone would be just fine with an UNRATED Avengers movie
by NivekJ
I know I'd be.
-
"you people are so petty" "what do you want me to do?" "Hahaha" Nope, not mute.
-
He's had some duff lines - and given that they have included a couple of gems from Stark and Captain America, it does make me think he doesn't have any. His dialogue exchange with Loki in the latest trailer was clunky and the dialogue in this clip sounds like a first round pass. Still really looking forward to this though.
-
..hmmm

Hopefully it'll make more than the overhyped mediocre BLUNDER GAMES!

I'm tired of women ruling the box office. Let's bring guy blockbusters like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, back when women didn't go to summer movies in droves.

Avengers: a pleasant distraction before the real deal that is PROMETHEUS!! :)
by marineboy
Avengers lokos like a decent saturday morning show, but not the stuff of legend. But that's Whedon for you. He nearly fucked up the Alien franchise until Ridley stepped in

Harry's just dropped his 'endorsement' atomic bomb on the avengers, it'll fail now like clown shoes...
by cameron
-
Not in the movie. In real life. I just like typing "hulk dogs"
-
Didn't you notice Thor saying "what would you have me do" to Fury?
-
Is definitely more "cultivated" than the original Marvel conception of the role when Stan created it in the mid-60's. Then, he was a loose cannon, the WW2 Sargent promoted to colonel but still a lethal, instinct-driven soldier who slowly (say, by the Steranko period) gained a little "super-spy" polish. Slooooowly.
-
He says "Betty" and "Hulk smash" and maybe something else that I've forgotten. BTW, in the Stark vs. Loki clip, did anyone notice that Stark Tower appears to be taller than the Empire State Building?
-

Hulk's third line from the 2008 film was "Leave me alone!"

Everybody praising Prometheus as if it was failure-proof
by RedLeaderStandingBy
Coming' back to Star Wars didn't work out well for Lucas. Spielberg to Indy neither. Let's see if Ridley will have a better luck. Till there, Avengers is the monster to be beaten this summer.

redleaderstandingby, PROMETHEUS will at worst be an ambitious interesting failure
by Spandau Belly
and I far prefer an interesting ambitious failure over something safe and average.
-
The line every man dreams they'd hear from Scarjo. I'm surprised none of the pervs here have jumped on that. And I just love the 'hulk smash' line. So awesome.

No Prometheus has the bigger upside (and bigger chance of disappointing)
by Domi'sInnerChild
Avengers and Batman seem pretty much what you see if what you get. I don't think either can match the hype, but I really doubt either will be garbage. Prometheus has a really high bar, but has the writers of Lost and the Darkest Hour. Which is kinda frightening in my opinion.
-
Catch up, AICN. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=89082

Everyone has an opinion. And AICN chat is where we come to read the finest in dialogue analysis. As in. Eyeroll. IE. The clip was fine.
-
my bad.

... I have tears in my eyes when I see some of this stuff. I mean, just... WOW. A big budget, live action Avengers movie. It. Just. Isn't. Possible. I was around for the earliest days, and now... I mean, are you KIDDING ME??? And I other people my age feel the same way. If this is a dream, don't wake me up.

Can I please get MORE micro-edits accompanied by loud percussive sounds?
by DoctorWho?
-
I caught that one too. It took a lot to restrain myself.
-
Extremely stoked!
-
Ya, when I think of the Avengers comics and cartoons over the years I think of scenes of gore, rivers of blood and everyone dropping F-bombs.<p> Sure, let's alienate a wide spectrum of kids and people who want to see some great, over the top super-hero adventure to accommodate your narrow demographic of fat-boy, chest-bumping dweebs. Maybe get some bitchen' Nu-Metal band to do the soundtrack too.
-
Please, please, please, be good. Please let my brother-in-law hate it. Please. Just be fun, let Downey be himself, let the actors shine, and don't fuck it up with glossy Michael Bay 'splosions and camera work no human eye can possibly follow. I really need a summer of fun movies.
-
You can tell this is true because there are shots of chubby Americans running away from explosions in slow motion.
-
Hulk has been officially Hulk-Poodled.
-
It is kind of surreal to see the comic-book that basically taught me to read become a live-action studio film after all these years. The clips show a good sense of fun and humor, but I also hope the villains and the stakes come across as serious. In any case, I am thrilled that in a few weeks all the Marvel fans will be seeing this movie in the theatres. I'm already looking forward to the next Avengers movie. They really must include Hank Pym and his wife Janet, aka Yellowjacket/Ant Man/Giant Man and the Wasp. Other than the Vision and the Scarlet Witch, they are sort of the core Avengers characters who are couples and who essentially make the classic team seem classic. Pym is an interesting character insofar as he creates the Avengers greatest villain, Ultron, in a Frankensteinian sense. Pym is a genius, but a troubled one who makes terrible mistakes, abuses his wife, and so on. Including him and the Wasp would add an interesting tension to the team, I think, and would create another decent role for a female Avenger with the Wasp. You can't have Ultron as the villain without including Pym as his Creator. Plus, it would be awesome to see Giant Man on screen. The Avengers have a deep bench, and for an old school Marvel fan, it would be great to see second-tier characters brought to life on-screen.

What are the odds Stark builds Ultron if that's the sequel?
by Domi'sInnerChild
I just see some potential fatigue with adding too many additional characters. Maybe they kill off Hawkeye and Black Widow. Maybe they don't (anybody see if they have multi-movie deals?).
-
Me: "Your ass, my face. You can even fart. Don't care."
-
oh come on with this shit.He only slapped her once.while he was drunk.and they were having a domestic argument.enough with this over-stretching wife-beater label.
-
And the big green one smiled with such glee a HUGE geek grin spread over my face. This is soooo being watched.
