See Simon Pegg In The Very Strange Trailer For A FANTASTIC FEAR OF EVERYTHING!
Nordling here.
First off, it's awesome that Belloq (okay, Paul Freeman) is Simon Pegg's therapist or whatever in the new film A FANTASTIC FEAR OF EVERYTHING. What would that be like, I wonder? "I see there is no psychosis that you have that I cannot take away." All his therapy sessions would end with face melting. But I digress.
This trailer looks very odd, and I'm not sure what this movie is about, except that a writer seems to be haunted by his creative visions while working on a book about serial killers. But it plays much funnier than it reads. Here's the trailer:
A FANTASTIC FEAR OF EVERYTHING opens in June. Looks like fun.

Simon Pegg rocks!
-
looks weird. like withnail and i weird. not necessarily a bad thing. And feels like a channel 4 sponsored movie. again not a bad thing. pegg is expanding his range. fair play.
-
If he's in it, I usually enjoy the movie. Aside from having almost no idea what this movie's about, it at least piqued my interest.
-
No explosions... no severed limbs.... no cities on fire... What are they thinking?
-
That was awesome.
-
cue that annoying portugese twit who hates jj abrams to reminds all why he hates star trek. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....
-
Run Fatboy Run, How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, Burke and Hare and Paul.

ashamed i haven't seen withnail and I...it's even in my netlix.
by zom-bot.com
it's constantly recommended to me, on nearly everyone's list of favorite movies, and i haven't seen it. kick me in the ass right now.
-
And often totally unfunny. AICN loves him for the sheer fact that he is a self-proclaimed, card-carrying geek, but that does not make him a comic genius.
-
looks great, very different. pegg seems like a class act. glad to see him branching out a little.
-
which this is based on, very funny, very Bruce Robinson.
-
at all.
-
Uses those jelly "body part" candies that come out at Halloween. She sticks the candy eyeball in her mouth and makes it "look around." I have to leave the room.
-
Was whoever made the trailer being ironic, and do they read this website?
-
That is all.

I love Simon Pegg but what did i just watch?
-
looks different and dig the visual style. Never read the novella so no opinion of source material to colour my viewing experience. Will have to see this.
-
...if this was written and/or directed by Charlie Kaufman, Michel Gondry, or Wes Anderson. And I don't mean that as a slight. My interest is piqued.
-
That movie seems like it will be either be so surreal and up-its-own-ass that it won't work, or completely mind-blowing genius.
-
Simon's weird hair alone is worth the price of admission.
-
i havent seen withnail and i either! though i've obviously seen enough clips of it to recognise a connection. I obviously watch way too much.
-
I personally didn't think Paul was one of them, though. Granted, it wasn't as good as Shaun, Hot Fuzz or Spaced, but it had its moments. The others, though (Run Fatboy Run, How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, Burke and Hare), yeah. It has yet to be seen if he can do something good without Nick Frost as a foil, and it has yet to be seen if he can do something great without Edgar Wright directing. That said, this looks promising. Weird as fuck, but promising.
-
Touch of the Terry Gilliam's about that trailer and maybe a bit of the Dennis Potter's which is nice.
-
Also, The Big Nothing - I'm not sure where I place that on the list. It was an odd one, that's for sure. OTOH, I actually enjoyed Paul. Perhaps because I was expecting it to be total shit, and it wasn't.
-
Man of La Rauncha.
-
it's in danger of being too over the top, almost pee wee herminish stupid. It also looks like it could be just perfect harmony of weird comical dramady, something like Eternal Sunshine but with more laughs. I just dont know at this point it looks like it could go either way, heres hoping for the latter.

Just as I expected - more uninspired drivel involving Simon Pegg.
by MajorFrontbum
With the massive mouth on this cunt, you'd expect the man would have some serious talent to back it up. He's a well below average actor, with absolutely no charisma at all. Why not give an unknown actor a chance, instead of this reprobate? There has to be thousands of undiscovered young actors out there, who could do a much better job, than this talentless globule.
-
Surely "laundrette" is the accepted spelling. Always a bad sign when no one on a film set can spell. Apart from that, this is just self-conscious QUIRK, and nothing else ... like a British Wes Anderson flick.
-
..Gilliam-esque. late 80's/early 90's to be precise. i'll see it.
-
"Eternal Sunshine" 2, perhaps.
-
Why report on it?
-
So was Big Train. The Bee Gees VS Chaka Khan in am old West gunfight...you couldn't make it up. Fucking hilarious tv show. Might be on Youtube..
-
That was for that annoying OTOH up there. Have fun.

You say, "it could go either way," as if that were a bad thing
by maxwello
I'll take a risky, original, high-concept movie over a remake or explosion-fest any day. A good director will find brilliant moments when they're working without a net, and those moments make me happy even if they are counterbalanced by other moments that misfire. No number of explosions or pretty boys making witless, sarcastic comments makes a movie wothwhile.
-
I have no idea what I just saw, but it looks pretty cool anyway. I don't think I have ever been left quite as befuddled after a trailer before. And that in itself is a good thing in a world of Hollywood idiot-aimed ventures.
-
...frontman of British rockband Kula Shaker. I am curious to see what he's gonna do with this movie. I'm in...
-
It's weird how easy it is to identify with the fears he expresses.
-
...sucked a big bag of dicks. Maybe Crispian (grandson of Sir John Mills) is trying to atone for his crimes against music.
-
If you only know them from the commercial releases from he first album, then I can see how you would dislike them. However I still think that their second album, "peasants, pigs and astronaughts" was genious. I'm interested to see what Crispian Mills (son of Hayley Mills) can offer in this first foray into film.
