Gary Ross Won't Be Returning For CATCHING FIRE!

Nordling here.

Earlier in the week, we reported that Gary Ross would return to THE HUNGER GAMES franchise if the pay was right; well, according to The Playlist that won't be happening.  Ross has exited the series, and Playlist says that he will be working on a new project that actually might be more lucrative for the long-time director.

Having not read CATCHING FIRE, I don't know what director would be good for the material, and since Lionsgate probably wants to maximize their box office potential, huge paycheck directors are likely out of the mix.  For fans, what director would you like to see take on the material?  I liked THE HUNGER GAMES but the common complaint that I've read was that it could have used a lighter touch on the material.  The movie was a lot darker and dire for what ostensibly are children's books, but that's what I liked most about it, myself.  What director's odds are most in their favor on this movie?

Nordling, out.  Follow me on Twitter!
