In a bit of "You knew that was coming" news, WWE Superstar Hornswoggle has been cast as the lead in the new LEPRECHAUN, which is going by the title LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS, so draw your own conclusions about where this entry will slot within the series.
The film is slated to be the beginning of a two-picture partnership between WWE Studios and Lionsgate. No production start or release date is set, as LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS is still in the scripting stage.
However, Hornswoggle may not be the only Leprechaun we see as part of the film. I spoke with WWE Studios President Michael Luisi while he was in Miami over WrestleMania weekend, and asked him point blank if Warwick Davis would be any part of the new project. He told me that they haven't reached out to as of yet, but there are several ideas on the table right now as to how they might be able to incorporate him into the film, linking this one to the original. Once that's settled, they can gauge Davis' interest and see whether or not he'd be up for a return.
