Are You Ready To Stare Into The Eyes Of ROBOCOP?
The Kidd here...
The last thing I figured would be rebooted for ROBOCOP would be the title character's look. I mean, it's RoboCop. He's an iconic figure as it is, at least to those of us who remember RoboCop and won't be introduced to him in some PG-13 re-do. Why change him just for the sake of changing him? If it ain't broke... right?
Well, that's now how things are looking for the ROBOCOP reboot, being helmed by Jose Padilha. Joel Kinnaman, who'll be taking on the role of Murphy, recently spoke to MTV and dropped some knowledge on how his version of RoboCop will be a little bit different...
"ROBOCOP is going to be a lot more human. The first movie is one of my favorite movies. I love it. Of course, Verhoeven has that very special tone, and it’s not going to have that tone. It’s a re-imagination of it. There’s a lot of stuff from the original. There are some details and throwbacks, but this version is a much better acting piece, for Alex Murphy and especially when he is RoboCop. It's much more challenging."
"It's not going to be jaw action. They’re still working on the suit and how it’s going to look, but the visor is going to be see-through. You’re going to see his eyes."
So basically piss on your work, Peter Weller. It's nothing compared to what Joel Kinnaman is bringing to the role... and, oh, yeah... let's eliminate the parts of RoboCop that actually make him robotic.
Okay, so that might be a bit overdramatic, but... well, is it?

More like fuck the sequels that pissed all over what robocop was in the first place.

...with a girlfriend - who left after Murphy got his hand blown off. I stayed though. Good times. Gooooood times.
-
see thru visor?! wow this is going to be G A Y ! ! !
-
I'm sure the more human Robocop would make for better CGI effects.
-
Anytime you pretty much have someone dissing the hell out of the orginal my faith in their ability to birng something to the table is gone. I loved the design of the Robocop. I didn't need or even want to look into his EYES! I loved it more when he kept the helmet on because of how cool he looked!. It wasn't the same when it was off.
-
You start with him as RoboCop, but as the movie progresses he gains back more of his humanity. He starts out expressionless, then during the fight with the ED-209 his visor is cracked and you can see his eyes, then by the end of the movie he's removed the faceplate and is calling himself Murphy. That is the entire point of the movie. If you can't understand that the transition is important, you should not be directing RoboCop.
-
Doesn't make sense why they would do this as a remake with the same characters and story if they want to do it with a whole new tone. Just set it in the same city a few years later with an updated RoboCop program, a new dead cop, a new bad guy and pick whatever things you like out of the first movie and reuse them. Call it 'RoboCop Reborn' or something. You can even refer back to Murphy at some point to give it continuity. I really don't understand why you'd bother pissing off a load of RoboCop fans by remaking it rather than just adding to it.

Kidd: KINNAMAN isn't pissing on WELLER at all in that quote
by melonman
You're meant to be a reviewer on this site, not another shit-stirring spasticated mongoloid talkbacker for chrissakes you fucking wanker. KINNAMAN's a pretty good actor (watch SNABBA CASH) and the (de)merits of this remake aren't going to reside in the differences between his and his predecessor's performances. It's more about PADILHA standing toe to toe with the mighty VERHOEVEN and not even reaching his groin.

Robocop suit is still more convincing than ironman suit. Because of the car paint. Iron man has home depot gold spray paint. Robocop had sportscar paint.
by UltraTron
-
I think the original is always going to be best, but I think the new take on the suit will present it's own acting challenges. In that regard one can't really say one is better than the other because they'd be different acting tools. We'll see how this all shapes up soon enough.

-
I'm actually looking forward to his take on this, as much as I looked forward to Nolan's take on Batman. I don't think it's his intent to shit on Verhoven or Weller, but if you're gonna remake/reboot something, you might want to bring something new to the table: ideas, philosophies, designs, etc.

Robocop has some great, GREAT moments... and it definitely sits on one of the upper-level shelves in the world of genre filmmaking...
by Astronut
... but I still maintain that it is overrated and very dated when viewed today. I feel it's actually kind of crappy in parts, to be honest. That's my take. It ain't no Total Recall, that's for sure. THAT film is pure sci-fi gold.
-
No, they shouldn't. Reboot = reworking. Ditch everything but the idea. Go from there. Otherwise, what's the point?
-
Transformers- Walking shit heaps TMNT- Aliens Robocop- Not a robot anymore Star Trek- Let's make the bridge into an Apple store! etc, etc. They should streamline the Robo design and make him more compatible with modern technology (e.g. he should be able to use wifi to communicate with HQ, have a more advanced HUD, etc) but the basic silhouette should stay the same.
-
That is all
-
Peter Weller's performance in Verhoeven's Robocop is Masterful; sympathetic, determined as Alex Murphy; badass and troubled as Robocop...it's an iconic performance IMO. This Joel Kinnaman better fucking deliver as he is basically saying: ' yeah bitches, my performance will be much better than Wellers' ! '
-
Wasn't Robocop supposed to be a re-imagination of Judge Dredd? I'm sure I read it somewhere. If that's the case then YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE HIS FUCKING EYES!!!! The whole concept is that he's a full on law machine who discovers his humanity, not that he starts slightly human. Peter Weller pulled that acting stunt beutifully BY JUST USING HIS FUCKING JAW!!!! The ED-209 design is iconic. ARE THEY GOING TO FUCK WITH THAT ASWELL????? THEY WILL WON'T THEY!!!!! I KNOW THEY WILL!!! DON'T LIE TO ME YOU BASTARDS!!! YOU BASTARDS!!!! I didn't actually see Robocop until the 2000's
by theyreflockingthisway
And the last thing I thought was "hmm the suit looks outdated" - I thought it looked incredible. Especially ED-209 - I can't imagine a redesign of that looking more awesome. Of course they probably have to change the look for a reboot but it's the attitude that puts me off. It feels like they're trying to put the original movie down. The original still holds up as a clever and entertaining satire on the corporate, police and criminal world that's still more than relevant today. I'm going to reserve my judgement until I see it, but it has a very tough act to follow and you can't make your new movie better by trying to put the original one down.
-
Yep, I believe it's time to start the RINO campaign. Verhoven is (or was) a genuis satirist. Kinnaman might love the original film, but his statements don't give me the impression he understands it. RINO RINO RINO.
-
How does he have the time with this and baseball?

and creativity. I guess Hollywood is recycling movies like fashion trends recycle themselves. Right now they are trying to fuck with movies we grew up in the 80s with like Fright Night, Tron, Lethal Weapon (rumored. Hope that idea died out), Clash of The Titans and now Robocop. Maybe the real problem might be the middle aged assholes in charge of coming up with ideas in Hollywood. Maybe they are trying to relive their childhoods by regurgitating these stories for us. I hope all of this changes soon or else we might be doomed to 90s remakes such as Batman and Robin, Anaconda, Battlefield Earth, Encino Man, and lest we forget (got to give props to the man "El Frio") Armageddon.

...I seem to recall that for the latter half or at least third of Robocop, Peter Weller plays the part with Robocop's visor off. Too many people on this site, authors or commenters, are looking to pick fights on things. That's not to say these judgments will always be right, but if we rush to judgment like this all the time, who is going to take risks and be creative. Oh, and really, Peter Weller's performance is there on the original movie. It's going nowhere. If you don't think the new film pays enough honor to the original, just think of it as dead to you, apocrypha that can be disregarded.

by openthepodbaydoorshal
is that when the visor is removed and Weller's face is visible, it looks as though grafted to the machinery underneath, bare of all facial hair, as clean as a babies butt. If fact, without the visor, Weller's face looks almost childlike.

but your concerns are understandable. He said it was more of an actors piece, not that it was more of a piece for real actors, for example. Also... no, thats all i got... no... the visor... well lets wait and see how this works as a piece of commentary or satire since the origional, and then decide if it's a good idea or not.
-

So, in other words, it's not RoboCop at all and they're only using the brand name because Hollywood ran out of ideas about 30+ years ago and can only manage to cannibalize itself now.

When he's reanimated, RoboCop's blinded to the idea that he was once human and is now a machine. Yet, in the course of the movie he slowly regains his humanity...eventually taking off his visor (you know, a metaphor).
-
To me, the close up of Alex Murphy's eye through Robocop's visor is one of the most important scenes in the movie. I love Joel Kinneman, but I am not optimistic about this "re-imagining" at all. It's more of a "re-shitening"
-
It's Humancop. Sounds fascinating.
-
...the first douche that says the re-imagining was better than the original when this is finally released. Padhila... are you fucking joking man..? Weller brought real humanity to the role... e.g."What's your name son?" "Murphy" - that one word was the key to leaving that film with a smile on your face and Weller delivered it perfectly. Way to make fanboy enemies!
-
March 27, 2012, 12:36 p.m. CST
If they think the only acting was in Weller's jaw, then they are idiots.
by kevred
Unobservant idiots, to boot. All of his movements, and voice, were critical in creating that iconic image, which was in turn a huge part of establishing our understanding of the character and his relative strength & vulnerability with what he faced. When initial statements by the filmmakers are this dumb, it doesn't create confidence.
-
March 27, 2012, 12:41 p.m. CST
Padilha you moron, you missed the whole point of the character.
by Orbots Commander
Like everybody already pointed out, the theme was about a disfigured cyborg regaining his humanity, thus the visor, and the slow reveal, where we first see one eye, then finally the whole face. But apparently, the theme escaped Mr. Padilha. Fuckin' Hollywood mental midgets.....

FUCK you. "Re-imagining"...that alone should set of alarms. Fucking assholes in hollywood these days all think their idea is better than what worked perfectly fucking well before and have no ability or inclination to just conceive of their own material rather than fucking up what was already done. Sometimes I'm willing to let things go and give them a chance- but I draw the line at a "more human" robocop. You fucking twit, the name is ROBO cop, not cyborg cop, not humanoid cop - ROBO, as in robotic, you dumb pile of rhino shit. I can't tell you how much I respect directors who actually try NEW things, as opposed to sticking their dick into properties that were conceived of by people more talented and driven than they are. I know it's hard, but TRY to be original (and no, original does not mean "re-imagine" properties, fucktard). That is all.

Call Eddie Muprhy and just make 6 Billion Dollar Man and leave Robocop alone...asshats.
by Darth Macchio
Seriously - this is the 6 million dollar man who's a cop instead of a test pilot. So don't bother - just call Eddie Murphy or Will Ferrel, get Disney's or someone's money behind it, get the same people that wrote those horrible Charlie's Angels movies - smash all that shit together and you'll have yourself a nice remake of "The Six Million Dollar Man" Call it "Billion" to update to our modern economy and, viola, watch the cash roll-in (or not). Meanwhile, the entire underlying theme and genuine essence of Murphy's journey in the original Robocop will not be cut before it even hits storyboards in this alleged "remake". You know, most people are claiming these remakes are naked cash grabs. You Hollywood types are not only supposed to just deny that, you're also supposed to act as if it's not true as well. Just saying "They still act like teenagers" means exactly dick and, worse, sounds like you already know exactly what you're doing given the inherent placating tone you take in your "defense" of these changes. What I don't get is the need to take a narrowly interesting property like Transformers or TMNT, mostly appealing to adolescent males and no one else (except those same males when they grow up), and make it more broadly appealing. To who? Divorcees? Teenage girls? Nuclear 3.2 families in suburbia? I'm guessing that half the time, in order to do that, you invariably have to take away what made these stories unique in the first place. Certain people will never be able to appreciate the absurdity of the characters of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Just like I doubt in the extreme that the Twilight series has an extensive following from 65 year old males. I know it's hard. You guys are utterly pavlovian when it comes to potential profit. And no means is out of bounds to ensure that very profitable end. But at the risk of asking the obvious, do you know how do you make Robocop or TMNT more broadly appealing? YOU DON'T. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. It's the square "nerd" peg being jammed into the round "mass appeal" hole. That's what you don't seem to get. You cannot take Spidey's mask off at every moment so non-comic loving people can "appreciate" the character when he speaks. You don't destory Murphy's journey from a machine to a man reclaiming his identity in Robocop by having his eyes visible at the start. You know what you do? You take a fucking risk. Get some talented people and make an original movie with story and art as the primary motivation and your audience will show up. Maybe not immediately but eventually.

And skynet isn't a supercomputer with full grown self-awareness, it is just the internet-nickname of a nerd who wasn't breast fed by his mommy, so he invented the latex-terminator for a) having something to fuck and b) get revenge for his lack of access to mother's milk...because that's much more realistic. Oh and he isn't from the future, he is from the past because, you know...just for the sake of changing something else too...

People need to see his eyes so they can see the sensitive side of Robocop and they can just swim in those dead man's eyes for hours. Lets just forget that Robocop used a sophisticated LED targeting system that was reliant on the visor. how the hell's he going to do his job and pull off his bullseye shots. Its these young directors that just want to make a fudging name for themselves and the enjoy taking ownership of an allready established character driven franchise. Why? Just give us Robocop. It doesn't have to be Peter Weller because I know he's busy being a college proffesor, but why try and change him in an attempt to make him more relavent or something. Who cares! Bring back the original suit and que the Poledouris music and have him shoot the fuck outa people that are bad. Thats it. I doubt these young hotshot director/producer will even read this but you never know.
-
I would be so down to see what kind of design they can come up with now, it was an 80s movie people, and as much as I loved it there were things that did suck terribly about it. I'm so down to see what this director has got in store. As a previous post said, don't talk trash until you see the directors work, both Elite Squads were pretty badass for a south american flick and those movies are the main reason I'm excited to see this re-make. He can handle gang violence in the film better than Verhoeven did as well as make sure theres a good story to follow Robocop thru. Get your heads out of your asses guys and give talented directors a chance, we're going to need it after Bay fucks up Teenage MUTANT Ninja Turtles...

This and the Total Recall remake, and the Carrie remake (you *don't* remake Depalma), etc. Bombs, bombs, bombs away.
-
I just don't care. I'm not even angry about it. Fuck it. Just fuck it. Robocop is an all time classic and a masterpiece, so why the re-imagining? Why? Because of the money? That's pathetic. And I'm not talking about the director, I've never seen his movies, I'm sure he is great, but I hate the fact that they doing the same shit all over again.
-
Make the armor red. They could lose the helmet, but replaces it with a red cowl, maybe capped off by little yellow wings. Oh! They could trim the red outfit with lightning, maybe stamp a big lightning bolt on his chest? And instead of being a cop who got shot and was re-built as a cyborg, they could maybe say he was a cop who got hit by a bolt of lightning, and now he can run really fast. But then I guess the title wouldn't make much sense...hey! They could call it "Flash" instead. Yep. Perfect Robocop re-boot. I'm spinning gold here, Hollywood.

=Lets just forget that Robocop used a sophisticated LED targeting system that was reliant on the visor.=
by KilliK
WRONG. that is a misconception that i also had for years. Actually the LED targeting system operates through Murphy's eyes and the computer that is connected in his brain. The visor is there to protect his eyes.In the 3rd act he removes his visor and you can clearly see that the LED targeting system is still operating through his eyes.
-
Robocop's helmet design was stolen, wholesale, from this comic book, which had been out for years prior to the film: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/auret/private/alienlegionfive001.jpg So I'm OK with a change.

If an actor is a GOOD actor, the body language and vocal performance is enough. Writers and directors can get emotion out of footage of an oatmeal cookie if they know what they're doing. You DO NOT need to see the eyes.

Wasn't that the point of the original visor, it took away his face, his human element. But when it's cracked during the ED209 battle and the camera zoomed into his eye looking out, that was the point his humanity shone through and the audience saw that he was still a person inside a suit - not just a robot! Having a see-thru visor is going to take that element away.

The first one is perfect, but it is also fucking CRAZY. If they try and do something way different, maybe a more realistic approach, I think it could work. I think this actor is perfect for the part. Just don't even think about attempting another sattire on corporate greed and modern violence. I'll be interested to see how he plays him. I like the idea of giving the Robo a bit more emotion, because the only way to succeed here is to do something completely different than the original. Sounds like the cast and crew are leaving the original to stand on its own.

-
Seriously. Please AICN. If you interview anyone related to this film, just ask...why?
-
As has been mentioned multiple times and I think right at the start of the thread - seeing or not seeing Murphy's eyes isn't about the suit whatsoever, it's about that character's journey in the film. By finally seeing his eyes, post-Robo, in that fight with ED, it shows Murphy's humanity coming through more and more until, ultimately, he's basically a cybernetic version of his previous, human self (Weller was completely amazing in this role - i know that's an understatement but his every movement was all but pitch-perfect for the character). So, for the nth time, having his eyes visible from the start isn't just changing the suit - it's changing the subtext of the story. My guess is they're doing it because, apparently, if people do not see eyes and mouth holes, they shit themselves incessantly in the theaters terrified of this disembodied voice floating around their ear holes. Can you imagine the horror? "I hear someone talking and I see his head bobbing...and he's the only character on screen...but I can't see his eyes and mouth moving!!??!! he's wearing some sort of spy device in the form of a helmet! wait, its not even a human being is it? they didn't hire humans for this movie!! im shitting in my pants right now!!!" Believe me - with very few exceptions, nobody gives a shit about making changes to the suit and actually EXPECT them to make changes (even if you refuse to believe it to make your point)...its changes that directly affect, or in some cases insult the storyline, that are called out for what they are - bullshit changes that do not update but remove original story context. I know nothing of the crew involved in this remake and I would love for this to work but I do think I, and others, are indeed correct with this theory that removing this aspect of the suit kills a primary and symbolically visible story-arc of Murphy's character during the film.

Or how about instead of his gun being holstered inside his leg, he has a minigun turret mounted to his crotch area? He should also have optical camouflage and a built in jet pack.

You see Robocops eyes in the original, in the lab. Your not supposed to see Robocops eyes, joe six pack on the street isn't supposed to know if he is man or machine. I get the feeling we're going to get a Robocop that barely resembles the version from the 80's. I think we're going to get something much more sleek. He's going to look part man and part General Grievous in the lower half. His legs and torso will probably have a skeletal/robotic look achieved through CG. It sucks because they might come up with something interesting but so different that it may as well be an entirely different character. FANS WILL INITIALLY HATE IT OF COURSE. But hey - We'll see. It just seems like they are intent on separating this film from the original franchise so I could easily see them going with a radical design departure. If I'm right I'll refer you fuckers back to this post as my prediction of things to come....and then you can all hail me as a Nerd Nostradamus. If I'm wrong I'll pretend I never said any of this.

There were these subtle nuances when he starts to relearn emotion and all that. The whole point of the performance was a man who had been made into a machine, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Plus, when he had the suit on, that's some pretty awesome pantomime robot movement there. I was always kinda impressed with his mechanic head jerks and stops. Made him much creepier in a way. As for the redesign, hell, I'm up for anything, but, they didn't fuck around too much with Batman's cowl or Supes' shield. Having said that, I have no opinion until I see an image.

I think more directors should read talkbacks and fan forums
by wcolbert
Maybe get half a fucking clue of what is going to just rub people the wrong way or entirely fuck up the movie. But I don't think they care - today's generation of directors want, generally, one of two things: 1. money - to cash in on a lucrative franchise 2. Notoriety - they think "re-imagining" creative properties conceived by people who shit out better ideas after dinner than they could in 20 years...will make a name for themselves. One can't, of course, take every suggestion from every facet of the fanbase - if you did, you'd have a movie that made no sense and contradicted its self in a thousand different ways. But it could point you in the right direction. If 3,000 people say "fuck this shit", you MIGHT want to think about what you're doing. If 20 out of every 500 do, maybe you can consider doing it your way. In the end, the object of the movie is not to please yourself, make more money (at least, it shouldnt be - sadly it all too often is the catalyst)...but to tell a story and tell it well, in an ideal world. To draw the audience in, not repell them. In many cases, people make calls too early on talkbacks - they go into nuclear annihilation mode if anything sounds a little off to them, before they've even seen the movie. Often, this is not well founded. But there are certain things you don't have to wait and see - some things are just too integral to what makes something what it is for it to be fucked with, and we all know it instinctivly.
-
I remember when I gave those fuckwits who made a prequel of The Thing a chance because i thought they had a great love for the source material and they might actually make something worth watching and that could maybe take part in the brilliant legacy that John Carpenter created. Boy was I wrong. That was a steamy turd that will forever taint the the good name of The Thing. And now they want to do that to Robocop AND Total Recall. Fuck off. Please, actually fuck off. Robocop was on TV last night as I was going to bed. It actually made me beyond happy. Not alot of shit will do that, but a man in a rediculous robot suit kicking ass does. There is no point in remaking this. Paul did it perfectly the first time round. Make a different movie about robots or something. Make a movie about ANYTHING! FUCK! Just leave Murphy alone. I love movies, I love going to the movies, and I'm not the type of dude to boycott things and judge stuff before I've seen anything, but I am telling you right now, this fucking piece of shit will not be seeing penny one from me. That being said, I wish them all the best in their endeavour to ruin one of the greatest things ever commited to celluloid. I DARE YOU TO MAKE THIS HALF ENTERTAINING WITHOUT MAKING ME WANT TO VOMIT IN RAGE! I FUCKING DARE YOU! American Jesus 4 Lyfe. Oh, and don't even get me started on Bay & Liebsman's space turtles. Sure, do what you have to do to make Robo sleeker, make him more "acrobatic" ala Iron Man, but leave the overall appearance of the original Robo costume intact. As TalkBackers above have said, some of the more emotionally resonant parts of the first film were seeing RoboCop's eyes in battle, when the visor was damaged. RoboCop isn't supposed to emote, and showing his eyes throughout the entire film serves no purpose unless they're conveying emotion, and no one wants a damn emotional RoboCop. I only hope Kinnaman's comments about Robo being "more human" don't extend to him actually having a goddamn dick to throw in some bullshit romance angle. Don't fuck this up Padilha.

Let's give Optimus Prime lips. Let's give Robocop visible eyes. Let's give Predator a scarier helmet with fucking horns and teeth. The Robocop design is perfect! They made it perfect for you! Now just use it!

First off, it seems like in this interview, Kinnamen is pissing on Weller's performance. The fact that Weller delivered a fucking ICONIC performance wearing that suit is a miracle in and of itself. I saw an interview with him one time where he explained everything that went into getting into that suit and....jesus. Secondly, the TONE that they are moving away from.....that's everything that made the original great...the fucking tone!!!! I was intrigued when Aronofsky was attached to this, and I think Kinnamen is the best thing by far in The Killing but this one's is sooo of my radar now.

Top 3 stories atm are reboots of Robocop, Total Recall, and Ninja Turtles. THIS is what you get, THIS is exactly what some people have warned you about over and over, THIS is what YOU get when you rationalize all the fucking garbage that's come out the past 3 years that you fuckbrains accept because there's nothing better out there and you're so fucking desperate to feel something you accept SHIT. But hey you know what do I know I hear Thor was a smash-hit and there's a new Spiderman reboot on the way, oh hey isn't it really great to have movies where you can just "turn off your brain", that seems to be the new mindset INSTEAD of the novelty and America has NEVER been better for it. I mean Sure, yeah, I've heard people that are like grateful that they can say there were born and alive at the time Christopher Nolan was directing his greatest hits, but besides that you really don't hear much. You know whatever go enjoy fucking Monopoly game or Candyland or 3 stooges or whatever fucking vile anti-creativity vomit you're going to justify to your needy desperate generic-template of a human being self.

re: "and, oh, yeah... let's eliminate the parts of RoboCop that actually make him robotic."
by buggerbugger
The character's designation is a misnomer anyway; he's a cyborg, not a robot. Robot = all mechanical. Cyborg = flesh melded with technology. RoboCop is only one of those things. RoboCop is, however, better name that CyberCop.
-
It would be one thing if nothing was said about anything related to this movie outside of who was directing and maybe some of the cast. But that's not happening. They're talking about what they're *going to do* in the movie meaning it will *be in the movie* even if we haven't seen it yet. So what's the point? Perhaps its arrogance or pathetic naivete to think someone might see these particular talkbacks - maybe they do, maybe they don't. Maybe Expendables 2 got an R rating cause the actual creative person behind production, Sylvester Stallone, does pieces for this particular sight and says he reads it often and it was this sightm in fact, that was one of many (or a few) that blew up when it was first reported as PG-13? Maybe, maybe not. Stranger things have happened. And the mere fact that Bay has done 2 press releases in the last week either defending the changes or trying to do damage/correction control means it actually does get heard and...maybe, just maybe...might affect the direction of a film. So, all of you suggesting we just shut up and wait until we see the movie are missing the point. They're actually talking about what will be in the movie - this means we don't have to see it to question it given they said it will be in the movie. And that maybe bitching about it might have the production reconsider their decisions prior to committing to that production, yes? Makes sense, yes? If we did wait, wouldn't it be too late to actually do anything about it if doing something about it is even possible? IE - whats the point of bitching when you're sitting in the theater? It sucks - you go home disappointed in wasting your money. It's too fucking late to change it, yes? True, maybe no one cares what AICN, staff or posters, thinks..maybe they do. Maybe even us little haters can actually change the direction of a film for the better...or maybe for the worse? So, no, I think it's not reasonable to ask people to shut up and wait for a movie to come out before bitching about it if there's even the most remote possibility that bitching could change the direction of the film. Thanks for the suggestion though.

This movie deserves a remake. Whether it deserves the treatment it gets is another story. I will wait to see it before I dismiss it; dismissing it before even seeing production art is childish.

That way we can see his face through his polytitanium composite helmet and observe how liquidy-smooth he moves compared to human beings. He will look so odd that he will be convincing as a cyborg. Ooooh, maybe they will give him tank treads while they are at it. Or maybe go the other way and make him like the T-1000 terminator so he looks like a man until he is damaged (no one ever saw that in a film, right?). Anything to run up the special effects bill. Not looking forward to this at all. Some moron from film school just graduated and happened to see RoboCop for the first time and now he is a producer. "Lets make a re-imagined RoboCop!"
