‘Behind This Wall!!’ Chat Here About Tonight’s Two-Hour ALCATRAZ Finale!! Plus VOICE, SMASH, DANCING, CASTLE, HUMAN, LOST GIRL And More!!
Well, Bad Robot’s “Alcatraz” turned out to be a pretty crappy show with pretty crappy ratings. If it doesn’t get cancelled this May it’ll be shot straight to the Fox Friday Death Slot.
Last week Hauser got a massage in Chinatown and made out with Lucy Sengupta. Another handsome short-haired white criminal began killing. And Doc and Rebecca learned Lucy is a ’63 -- just before Lucy finally opened her eyes.
I’ve watched every prior episode so I’m going to watch tonight’s 2-hour season finale. Will everyone wind up at a big cast party in Heaven?
Fox says of "Garrett Stillman/Tommy Madsen":
Doc and Rebecca close in on a man who may be the key to revealing the secrets behind all the returning criminals. Meanwhile, Hauser makes a discovery beneath the halls of Alcatraz that brings him ever closer to the truth. Then, revealing doors are opened and lives hang in the balance as Rebecca will stop at nothing in pursuit of the man who killed her partner

Brooklyn 11223 (11pm Oxygen) is a reality series following “the lives of a group of twentysomething friends whose once rock-solid friendships have been torn apart by betrayal.”
“The Voice” and “Smash” both hit season lows last week. Both will be back next season.

Don't believe these ratings at all. No way that many people watch CBS.

Have to agree. Alcatraz has pretty much sucked.
March 26, 2012, 4:48 a.m. CST
Followed by Being Human, I think.

I enjoyed the pilot... but each subsequent episode I find myself TRYING to stay interested. It's a real shame.

those who know of the tv series think this will do badly, those of us who have not heard or seen the series before think it will do well. Seems it will be a moderate hit domestically and do better globally.

Why people watch Alcatraz over Lost Girl, I do not know. Lost Girl is sooo overlooked...and for no reason. It has established a good universe with solid characters. It is better than Grimm and Once Upon A Time...and already has a third season booked in...I watch a lot of genre TV (I commute a fair bit) and where Fringe and Supernatural disappoint, Lost Girl entertains. Is it the best thing on TV? No. Is it fun? Hell yeah!

I have only seen the first 2 episodes of Alcatraz and have actually enjoyed it although some irritation snuck in on the 2nd episode. But sounds like I am as well bonning it already. I am starting to get pretty hacked off with the failure rate with these types of shows - how about spending less and gradually building a show up instead of the constant bang and bust that is going on?
March 26, 2012, 9:42 a.m. CST
I think it's pretty good. Granted, it's turned more into a cop procedural with some sci-fi and other elements mixed in, but it's holding my interest. Sorry to see it go if it does. Suppose I should just be happy that Fringe has stuck around as long as it has.

I used to record "extra" stuff on a couple of my PCs and my main stuff on a TiVo HD to catch everything I like on Mondays. Recently added a new Premiere Elite box and networked them. So, I record Voice, DWTS, Alcatraz, HIMYM, Lost Girl, H5O, 2BG, and Smash on Mondays. Personally, I like Alcatraz. It's not bad. I would like to see where they're going with it. Lost Girl is pretty good and features a fair amount of side boob.

@Herc: Will everyone wind up at a big cast party in Heaven? GEEZ, MY WIFE COULD SERIOUSLY GET JEALOUS RIGHT NOW, 'cause I'm beginning to fall in love with you!
You know how to tease, man! I hug you for this question! ;-) Though jay2517 and I are very cool with each other - THAT will always be the dividing line for us (and some others probably, too). ALCATRAZ has nonetheless drawn me in. I wish it would have been more intense regarding our main cast - right now, we just get Hauser's real arc. There should have been much more focus on Rebecca's arc, so that her Falling Down height would have been much higher before season ending - we all know, the last episode concentrates about her grandpa... And there seems to nothing remotely endangering Hurley's (Soto's) mental stability... THAT's where I would have focused the story more than in just Hauser's. Don't misunderstand, but I guess Sam Neill'l not be getting easy (cheap) for a second season (he probably didn't take another into account either...) - and his arc already seems to have somehow finished. So our two other main protagonists are already left with not much to go on as a story for a second season... Or maybe it was always planned as a mid-season series, that's ending tonight... well, then give as the HELL of an ending... ...and NOT A CHAPEL! ;-)

I couldn't care less about a single mystery on that show. It's a procedural with lame ass mysteries. Even Hurley sucks in this show.

Have not watched Alcatraz for four weeks... Did anything change with it? Or is it still boring escapee of the week

Reopen that fucker and stick 'em in there with some notepads and pens. Let them out in fifteen years or so when they've actually put something interesting together.

Last week's Being Human was one of the best of the series. The show keeps getting better -- watching it has become must see TV for me on Monday nights. I don't know how much longer they can keep this up, but the writers and actors have done an amazing job so far.

I'm not sure why people don't like this show. One of my favorites right now. I'm just worried that we're going to end on a cliffhanger and then it will be cancelled so that we fans won't get a finished storyline.

on Alcatraz, which is the only reason I'll tune in. But I'll probably just record it and skip to the that part.

March 26, 2012, 9:07 p.m. CST
Characters, folks. It's all about the characters. I swear I've watched every episode and I couldn't tell you one character's name. I refer to them as short-hair blonde-haired girl with big boobs, Hurley and "that guy from EVENT HORIZON". And those are the main characters. Hell, after one or two episodes of LOST, I knew who everyone was - and there were about a dozen main people. I don't care about anyone on ALCATRAZ. Any of them could die and I wouldn't miss them. The concept sure sounded original when they started hyping it up about 2 years ago, but every episode is just a horrible police procedural. This show needs cancelled immediately, and short-hair blonde-haired girl with big boobs should go make a career in porn.

While it's not exactly what I had hoped it was this season, I still enjoyed it overall. Enough to tune in each week. I, for one, hope it comes back next year, regardless of which night. But, definitely need more progress with the overall story and more Sarah Jones running around. Lets hope next year, there is a 63'er in Daytona Beach and the crew has to go down there. Wouldn't mind the ladies of Alcatraz having to lay out by the pool to surveil someone :)

It wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be, either. I still enjoyed it, though, and I hope it returns. It kept me coming back every week and if they gave it a second season, I'm sure it would improve on the first.
March 27, 2012, 12:36 a.m. CST
I've skipped that last four or 5 episodes. Let's have a flashback each week just like Lost. But to better we'll use it for throwaway characters. Then let's spend the rest of the time making a procedural show where we chase them around town and Sam Neill keeps some secrets. Fucking retarded way to tell a story. I have zero interest in finding out how they resolved their mysteries.
March 27, 2012, 1:26 a.m. CST
Is it the same as always, prisoner kills the same way they used to... Then winds up in special prison? Or did they expand/create a story?
March 27, 2012, 1:39 a.m. CST
They are shooting in Vancouver as of last week when I saw them downtown...
March 27, 2012, 2:55 a.m. CST
And they never bother to ask her how she traveled 50 years through time. I mean ... how fucking infuriating is this show?

yeah i gave up on alcatraz 5 or so eps in., looked at the boards to see if it improved, looks like it hasn't. damm. with that talent cast, must have serious issues if they cant get together a compelling story.
March 27, 2012, 6:40 a.m. CST
They had Rebecca down to her bra on that ER table and didn't give us one decent shot of her chest.
March 27, 2012, 7:55 a.m. CST
Fun shows, enough said! Nice cliff hanger last night on Being Human. Henry is a little bastard haha.
March 27, 2012, 8:30 a.m. CST
I thought it was good fun TV, finally. I think they definitely took too long in delivering some of the answers in the finale. Spoilers....So, they are going to have to build a much bigger task force to track the rest across the country? How did Harlan build his fortune? How does POTUS know about all of this yet they only have a handful of people tracking these guys? He must be in on it too. I really liked the car chase scene, if not simply for the gratuitous extended commercial for the Mustang. I really doubt Rebecca is truly dead. Seems to me there she will become a Silverblood soon. Only big question I still have is...if the silver in the blood was a mechanism to transport or track these people, how/why did the staff that did not become Silverbloods get trasported?
March 27, 2012, 9:45 a.m. CST
I WANT to like Alcatraz. Love Jorge Garcia and Sam Neill though he is underused here...and the writing CAN be good....and it's definitely better than any other police procedural show out there....BUT...
Take the finale for example. A sweet car chase thru San Francisco's streets but when the Mousie-Tang nails the Charger the Charger gets totalled and the Mousie-Tang is totally unscarred in the aftermath in full Ford commercial pose. ANYways....nobody's buying that Rebecca is dead. And now they have blown it wide open that the '63's are not all in the Bay Area but rather all over the nation. Now, it seems really difficult to keep this show afloat if they have to do some real location scouting and stuff to take the search nationwide. I like Garcia's character a lot. He IS very Hurley-like no doubt, but I really do feel Garcia rises above to give him something very un-Hurley like. SOMEbody here nailed it though. There will NEVER be another Lost, even from Bad Robot, if they don't focus on character. Alcatraz, Fringe,The River and any other attempt all fall flat for THIS reason.
March 27, 2012, 9:47 a.m. CST
Character. Character. Character focus. Lost was all b/c of that and so was BSG. The Island and the Galactica were just the vessels for the character focus.
March 27, 2012, 10:36 a.m. CST
A show about time-traveling serial killers sounds pretty interesting. The casting was good, for the most part, though Sam Neill seemed to be using most of his energy keeping up his American accent. One big problem is the miniscule effort to even think about the practical aspects of The Department of Fighting Time-traveling Serial Killers. Their field team consists of a 65-year-old, a tiny female novice detective, and Hurley. This show may forever hold a place as the most understaffed government agency of all time.
March 27, 2012, 11:38 a.m. CST
I don't think that was Alcatraz. Even if it is coming back next year, they should be shut down now. Last night was the season finale. It could be they were doing some very late re-shoots last week but that's cutting it pretty close for episodes that aired last night. Maybe it was Fringe you saw shooting.
March 27, 2012, 11:56 a.m. CST
Time travel, especially in an Abrams show, is like the bastard child of Cousin Oliver and Ted McGinley, it's so shark-jumping. Of course, this show started pre-jumped.

The finale was great in my opinion, but had multiple cliffhangers at its end. Best episodes of the season for sure. Hopefully it sticks around.
March 27, 2012, 9:50 p.m. CST
There were a few dissapointments, but overall it was great. One thing that I did think was silly was when Tommy Madsen and the nurse were walking down the hall of the mental institute and someone that she knew said hi I thought that it was kind of silly with the way that Tommy was walking behind her holding her arm, why the heck did the guy not put two and two together and run to call the police? I didn't mind the car product placement during the car chase, because frankly anything that brings in money will hopefully keep the show from being renewed. I want the show to keep going unless of course its ether it or Fringe, in that case I want Fringe renewed. Hopefully we get both though.
March 28, 2012, 1:12 a.m. CST
I was a little confused too...
March 28, 2012, 9:51 a.m. CST
Maybe it was re-shoots (second-unit pick ups?), or perhaps something for the DVD. I guess it could also be something to give the suits a visual presentation to show Fox where they plan to go for season 2; basically a pilot for season 2.
March 28, 2012, 7:35 p.m. CST
The show should've been from the perspective of the 63s and not the boring as fuck people chasing them. If it had just been like say, 6 dudes or something that this'd happened to and then we watched them figure out why that would have been so much more interesting. A time traveling Dirty Dozen or something. Ok Fox there you go. You can send my check in the mail.
