James Bond shooting in Turkey... on top of a train... fighting...
Hey folks, Harry here... My nephew is currently studying Turkish at school, at age 11, and as I look at this CNN TURKEY video - I find myself disappointed that I can't really understand a lick of what is being said, but can't wait to show my nephew tomorrow when he comes over for his weekly tutoring sessions. But I'm pretty sure they're talking about James Bond shooting in Turkey. But that's a wild guess on my part. At the very least we can suppose that Daniel Craig is most likely going to have train trouble. Bond never has a nice easy safe train trip. But it can't be tougher than having Quint beating the fuck out of you in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.... which was in Turkey too! Anyway, here's the report from TURKEY CNN
Hi Harry, I'm Kemal, a long time fan of your site. I've just saw the news about Skyfall and that you didn't understand what being said (naturally). This was a nice and funny news today in Turkey. The set of Skyfall was in the main train station in Adana city. The set had high security and guards were everywhere but a high school student borrowed (!) a train worker's dress, got into station, crawled under the vagons and shot the whole action sequence. But he got out from where he's hiding to get a more clear picture. Then he was caught by the guards. Fortunately he hid his phone to his pants (which he shot the seq) so guards couldn't find the recording device on him. So here it is. First video from Skyfall, from a curious Turkish high school lad:)

the teenager you see in the video infiltrated the set by stealing conducter clothes. they managed to shoot some footage before being taken out by the security. they hid the cell phones in their underwears. and they are shooting the movie in city of Adana.

in movies would go on for a good half hour. Narrow Margin, Spider-Man 2, one of the Under Siege movies, Indiana Jones 3, etc. etc. etc.

would have been a great end to that headline.

Granted, Die Another Day sucked but Brosnan was bad ass and deserved a better sendoff. James Bourne is fucking lame.
-
Can a brother get a spoiler warning or are we just going to ruin every goddamn thing that gets released?
-
Daniel Craig is a great Bond. I can't fucking stand the idiots who say he isn't suave enough, as if those fucking lame ass one liners Brosnan spit out were awesome or something. Brosnan was great, his movies just sucked. Craig is a great Bond and brings different dimensions to the character. Watch Royale again and see what I mean. Fuck the haters!!!! Craig rules!!!!

Is nobody's business but the Turks'. The Turkish subtitles for the Turkish kid speaking Turkish were really helpful for those who speak Turkish or understand Turkish. Turkish is fun to say. Turkish sounds like a record being played backwards. Merhaba!
-
How about Spanish, Chinese or even French? You know, languages that are atually useful?
-
I'm almost positive that the Bond-Grant fight takes place in Winther Bulgaria or Yugoslavia.

They don't offer Turkish in College so why waste his time?
by ZodNotGod
Give him something he can use and that will be useful; German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Russian. Turkish? Good luck with that!
-
He gives the character more personality and style then the past 4 Bonds! Only Connery has been able to give the character more substance.

Where do they teach Turkish? I'd think Spanish would be much more practical if he lives in Texas.

-
Glad to know there's someone out there besides me who see Craig's greatness.
-
This coming from a Connery nut who saw Never Say Never Again 5 times in the theater.
-
Casino Royale was pure bad ass. QoS was not very successful, but I wouldn't lay the blame at Craig's feet for the weaker story, incoherent action and badly done (sickness inducing) car chase. Blame the writing and direction for that shit.
-
Craig is a fine actor and I generally am impressed with his performances. But....just can't buy him as Bond. All wrong. Hope Fassbender takes over in a 60's retro Bond series. How cool would that be?
-
He almost certainly goes to one of the 120+ Turkish-run charter schools springing up all over the country. They are all unofficially affiliated with a man named Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish religious and political leader who lives in self-imposed exile on a multi-million dollar compound in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. As part of the charter school system, they cannot openly have a connection with Gulen, but the schools are overwhelmingly staffed with loyal Gulenists from teachers to administration to board members to after-school activity advisors, etc. For those suggesting they learn more useful languages like Chinese or Spanish, many Gulen schools do teach kids those very languages every day from kindergarten to 4th/8th grade (depending how high the school goes). The schools do genuinely provide a high quality education by all accounts, apart from the focus on useful world languages. The "dark side" is that they are suspected of siphoning tax money (charter schools are publicly funded) off to Gulen's movement by bringing Turkish nationals in to work at the school and paying them inflated salaries with the understanding they will then donate a significant amount of that to Gulen. There are questions about the legality and necessity of the guest-worker visas they obtain as well.
-
I guess I didn't explicitly state that above, but just in case you couldn't figure it out, the Gulen schools also offer optional Turkish classes, usually during a study hall period at the end of the day. And, just to be clear, all the illegal/questionable things I mentioned above are still just unofficial accusations at this point. I frankly wouldn't be surprised to hear of a formal investigation sometime in the near future, but little has come of it to this point.

I JUST WANT A FIGHT ON TOP OF A TRAIN... IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!
