Hey folks, Harry here... ya know what I like about SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN... it's that it feels as if somebody decided to make the story of SNOW WHITE after taking style points from Ridley Scott's LEGEND. The glow of this fantasy world is kind of ideal to me. That weird forest monster? The Dwarves?!?!? I mean, Nick Frost, Bob Hoskins & Toby Jones have all never looked better than in their Mahleresque statures. Man, I wasn't expecting anything from this movie. I thought it would be some kind of twilight ripoff. While it's not nearly as cool as Legend, I will definitely see this movie opening night. What a great year for film lovers.

...how many more dainty little chicks in full plate armor are we going to have to suffer through until the Boomer ERA'rs finally shuffle off this mortal coil? A perfectly good trailer, and movie, I assume, potentially ruined by the little chick in full plate at the end. Call it a Robin-Hooding, cuz Ridley did the same damned thing.

As it is, still looks much much better then I had expected. Just too bad they couldn't have stretched a little bit and cast someone worthwhile, rather then simply trying to cash in on Twilight.

I liked John Carter of Mars, but Kitsch was wrong for the role. Fucking Purefoy would have made a better John Carter. I liked Lynn Collins though, I didn't think I would, but she surprised me. The Tharks were cool, not sure why John Carter killed hundreds of the people he was supposed to help. The whole Thern thing. No idea why they were even in that movie!

Both somehow have wormed their way into leading character roles despite the fact that both are complete vacuums of charisma, humor, intelligence, or charm. They both share that dead eye look, no matter what they are doing/saying it never looks like anything is actually going on upstairs, which isn't to suggest they are stupid, just as actors they both have a complete inability to convey or emote anything, just a couple of immense blank slates.

Really like the overall look, the forest creatures, Theron appears amazing as always. My only hesitation of course is Stewart. She certainly doesn't have the acting chops to stand up against Theron. But crap, every clip with Theron looks fantastic. I'll be there opening weekend.

As for this film being compared to LOTR and Del Toro's style, I actually see this more as Willow plus Legend

The whole storming the castle part at the end of this long trailer looked a lot like the end of Willow. Also, Theron's evil queen has a crown that looks a bit like the one that the queen in Willow had on throughout that film. Also, in Willow the MacGuffin wasn't a ring, but a person named Elora Dahnon (probably bungled the spelling of that name), who was a baby found by Willow (Warwick Davis). Elora was destined to grow up to overthrow the evil queen, which is why the baddies were looking for her. In this Snow White film, it appears that the evil queen Theron is also after a person, in this case Snow White, who is *the one* (so sick of this plot point in these types of films) that will overthrow the forces of darkness. At least if we are to believe what the dwarf version of Bob Hoskins says in the trailer. Snow White and the Huntsman looks like a Willow remake a bit, mixed with the Snow White fairy tales. I like Willow so this is not a bad thing. It's just too bad they didn't find a part for Warwick Davis as one of the seven dwarves.

Plus Theron's evil queen talks to the mirror and asks it for advice, which is a similar device that Ridley used in Legend with Darkness talking to his *father* which seemed to be a voice that came from the fire in the fireplace. Within the first week of June, we are getting a sci-fi and a fantasy flick, both of which have Charlize Theron in them, plus space jockeys and Bob Hoskins and Ian McShane dwarves. Holy fuck, my mind is now blown!

Theron was classy beautiful, flirty and intelligent. Stewart was like a dumb vacant stoner who literally cowarded in Theron's pressence and chuckled stupidly like a stoner.

I'm so glad John Lee Hancock did a production pass on it. Theron's dialogue and overall menace have been amped up to the nth degree. The spec that sold was whimsical and quirky and comedic, even falling back on that so not funny cliche of having a pair of evil twins who are actually polar opposites but think they're mirror images of each other. Yawn. The original spec was not nearly as dark as this.

So it doesn't matter if Theron is actually more beautiful than Stewart. The evil queen is a chick. Which means it's perfectly plausible that she'd hate and fear any chick who's a 7 or above. If there was an evil king, he could spend half his day being reassuring: 'Naw, baby, you're way hotter than Snow White. Look at how great you look in this queen outfit!' It wouldn't do any good. Probably what happened is the evil queen heard that Snow White got more messages than she got on OKCupid. Now she's completely gone around the bend and can't see the reality of who's hotter any more.

Carter didn't slaughter Tharks; they were Warhoons, a rival tribe of green Martians. The movie referred to them a couple times, but unfortunately didn't really give much context. I think they hoped that making the Warhoons seem a little more animal-like (as opposed to the more human Tharks) would allow people to figure out the difference. I don't think it was enough, though. That said, I still think the movie got more right than it got wrong.

Only because she's a girl of action, as opposed of making googly eyes at sparkly vampires. If Theron's character slapped Julia Roberts' Evil Queen into the next fairy tale, she'd be the heroine on the spot. It's certain this movie will do that to Mirror, Mirror...and more.

No, Theron is obviously far more attractive. The studios know this. Rule no. 1 when making a movie like this is not to make your female audience feel threatened. One big reason the Twilight movies are so huge is that the girl that gets the fop (who makes all the teen-aged girls and immature women wet between the legs) is totally meh in the looks department. That way, these girls and women who go to these pictures can substitute themselves for Stewart, and live out their vain little fantasy for two hours, where pretty boys fight over them and constantly profess their undying devotion to them. If you got someone at the level of Katherine Jenkins (face) or Chloe Vevrier (face, tits) or even Jordana Brewster to play Snow White, girls and immature women wouldn't be able to see themselves as that character, and poof, there go your repeat viewings.
