Come on and sing, everyone. Sing or The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day will go home and kill all your mommies!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
SXSW is officially over, long live SXSW! It was a great time, with lots of great films, but I’m so, so, so, so glad it’s over if I’m to be honest. I’m so tired, you guys… but not tired enough to skip on my BTS pic of the day. Late with it, sure, but skipping it entirely? Fuck no!
Today we have Andy Robinson who was perfectly messed up in the head as the killer in Dirty Harry have a chat with his director, the great Don Siegel. Not much more explanation needed.
Thanks to Mark Stevens for sending this one along. Click to enlargen.

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.
Tomorrow’s pic would like a sip of your tasty beverage.

Nice timing, quint.

Don't pass out on me yet!
-
it would be Andy.
-
The contrast of this innocent, soft voiced young man that straight up murders kids is jarring. The other Dirty Harry's lacked a true madman like this and suffer for it.
-
Garak was always a fun character.

NOW CAN WE HAVE A NEW MODERN DIRTY HARRY MOVIE WITH HUGH JACKMAN PLEASE?
by KilliK
-
character IS how Dirty Harry would look like and behave in his 70s.
-

and Blook Work is a pile of shit which completely disrespected the origina novel.
by KilliK
Read the book,it is way better that Eastwood's movie.Michael Connelly, the author, makes fun of how different and worse is the movie from his book in another novel-sequel with Harry Bosch.
-

=I don't care about the novel vs film differences (Blood Work)=
by KilliK
you should. If the movie tried to follow the book at least it would been a great thriller and not the abomination it is. And in GT,we know that he fought in Korean War,there is no mention that he is an ex military. So we are free to assume that after the war,he worked as a cop.OUCH.your turn.
-
i didnt want to irritate you, just wanted to have some fun debate in this boring sunday noon.again i am sorry.
-
Andy Robinson is the shit.

The great thing about the Scorpio Killer is that there are no redeeming
by KilliK
qualities in him.He didnt turn into a sociopath killer because of the inhuman society, because his stepfather was cruel to him or because his uncle raped him when he was a kid.He just did what he did because he was just that: a maniacal, psychopathic evil man. And Anderson played that character into perfection, making him so despicable and sleazy that you actually hate him and root for Harry when he kills him, regardless if that makes him a "fascist pig" They just dont make the villains like this anymore.
-
holy sweet mother of god.
-
Say what
-
And gave a superb acting job during it. There were many scenes he just stole, and he had an air of sarcasm all the time. His performances in the last several episodes were especially good.

Dirty Harry is a film I truly love. Saw it in theaters as a kid many times.
by grendel69
And yes Robsinson is a underrated talent. He was consistently amazing as Garak. With a huge cast on that show, he usually stole every scene he was in.
-
Most people misquote this movie because most people haven't even seen it. It truly is an epic film. They think the "Go ahead, make my day" line came from this film. WRONG, but man what a film. Eastwood is awesome, what more can you say?
-
March 18, 2012, 9:36 a.m. CST
So which movie, did the line 'Go ahead, make my day' come from?
by KilliK
-
Came from 1983's Sudden Impact

Hey, have you guys seen this music video where Jake Gyllenhall goes around murdering hipsters?

I love Dirty Harry but i think Magnum Force is the better movie, the 3 renagade cops, and David Souls ernest and creepy acting, plus the hijack plane scene!
by cameron
Captain, i don't mean to be rude, but you actually flown a plane before?
-
March 18, 2012, 11:47 a.m. CST
Ultratron, are you referring to the Jake Gyllenhall video?
by Bobo_Vision
Because i had the same reaction. It's filmed beautifully. Love the tone. It's like scenes from a movie I'd love to watch.

Andrew Robinson is a fantastic actor. Amazing as Garak.
by Hint_of_Smegma
I'd go so far as to saying he turned a bit part role into probably the best, most nuanced character in the entire run of Star Trek. He stole every scene he was in. His daughter also was very good in literally the best episode of Trek, The Visitor. Dirty Harry wouldn't have been nearly as good without him playing Scorpio.
-
Yeah, hip video. Wait.... lol No, it's actually really good. The track isn't too bad either, especially the beginning which is I assume a different track entirely. Might be the most disturbing thing I've seen so far this year. I'm surprised they get away with calling themselves The Shoes, rather than The Shoes EU or something like that, considering there was a mildly successful band in the 80s called The Shoes. Can't be the same guys though, can it? I guess Underworld pulled a second career out of their asses. Why not The Shoes, right?
-
What a TRIP. Great actor. In both. But what a creep. (the character, obviously)
-
is just twisted,swinging brilliance.
-
It's Scorpio, dammit!
-
I found that video somewhat disturbing, too....disturbing because of how much I was enjoying watching him kill those hipsters. It's like he's a surreal anti-hero, and I found myself rooting for him within.

The Scorpio Killer is how I always hoped they would do The Joker
by thecomedian
-
i dont understand where you find the similarities apart from both being psychos.
-
First saw it as a kid and, as fantastically cool as clint is, it was Robinson's portrayal of Scorpio that I just couldn't get my mind around. He's still terrifying. I understand many people have a problem with DH's "fascistic overtones". I don't - I just love that fucking film.

Re: DIRTY HARRY Is A Masterpiece, But No Love For Robinson's Work In HELLRAISER?!?
by ArmageddonProductions
Especially after his skin is co-opted by "Uncle Frank"? He even gets the "... and Jesus wept!" line at the end!
-

I'm saying that's how I always imagined a movie Joker would be done.
by thecomedian
The insanity of Andy Robinson's performance especially in the scene with the school kids. The way he taunts Dirty Harry the whole movie. The way he goes on TV and turns the system against Harry. The creepy manic insanity. That's how I wanted to see the Joker done in a movie. Fuck that cold nihilist bullshit Nolan did. The Joker should be showy but he should also be frightening.
-
and the Jesus wept line is great.
-
yeah, you are right Joker should be like Andy's Scorpio.

Scorpio had a lot in common with certain version of the Joker
by OutsideChance
The insane giggling, the quick pivots from witty and childlike to brutal....in fact, if you listen to Mark Hamill's Joker on BTAS, you can hear a bit of a Robinson impression in his line readings.
-
One of the best things on the show. Funny thing is, he audienced originally as ODO

Im watching this Bodyguard movie with Whitney Houston on tv now
by ajit maholtra
Its so stupid. In the movie she wins an Oscar for best actress. Its like science fiction.
-
Best Garak scene is when Dr Bashir tries to convince him that he should be more truthful by telling him the story of the boy who cried wolf. Garak corrects the doctor on the true moral of the story. It's not that the boy shouldn't have lied; it's that the boy shouldn't have kept telling the *same* lie.
-
That single scene sums up all of who and what Garak was on that show in a nutshell. He really deserved an emmy on at least 4 different episodes.
-
and damn they so did not age well. the first one especially has the look and feel of a 70s tv show, down to the score and font and style of the credits. and i was shocked to see that fake "paint red" blood. i thought american movies always had decent looking blood...always thought the paint red type was a hammer thing. :P

My parents gave me this as a present two days ago! I mean the DVD. I'm happy as fuck

Sing Godamn it SING! Greatest Cop Movie EVER. When Scorpio gets stabbed, that truely is the greatest scream in Cinema History. Amazing Helicopter shot at The football field too.
by SmokieGeezer
-
Is when he's asked to assassinate a Romulan Senator to bring them into the Dominion War and he does without hestitation. When Sisko gets all guilty and moralistic, Garak puts him in his place rather succintly. When people dump on DS9 I question their logic, sanity and fan-worthiness because DS9 is the best of the sequel series. Mostly flawless in regards to Garak who was very much like Ledger's version of the Joker, always mysterious, never knew when he was sincere.

Anyone notice that Lethal Weapon paid homage to Dirty Harry with The jumper? This is so good it cant be remade, The movie that took Clint to the next level.
by SmokieGeezer

Robinson was so good in this role I think it marked him for the rest of his professional life. You have to have a super bad guy to go up against Dirty Harry, and thats why the other films were never quite as good as the original.
