I am – Hercules!!

“Grimm” will be back for a 22-episode second season.

While its ratings haven’t exactly been on fire, it’s consistently NBC’s top-rated Friday show, beating “Who Do You Think You Are?” and “Dateline.”

    Why?

    by jgsugden

Considering how much I like the work that the people behind the cameras did elsewhere I was very disappointed in this show. I am surprised it is surviving for a second season, honestly. it isn't that it is a bad show - it is just very, very bland.

    by Johnboy40

I think the blandness comes from the lead. he is very earnest and willing and all that, but is utterly lacking in charisma. I have difficulty believing that Bitsie Tulloch's character would even look at him.

    I like it...

    by IceMonkey

...but wish it was either more of a police procedural OR a crazy mythology show. It seems to straddle that line a little too much. I love the guy playing the blutbad though.

    Every week is tortuous

    by bongo dummy

Recently, every episode somehow runs one of the main characters through the ringer. It might seem weird to cut it that much slack but consider what it is: It is a show that says mythical creatures from fairy tales live among everyone else. Those animal creatures are also a large community that feels threatened by one dude. While that is funny because the dude isn't really a big superhero-like threat to them, those animal creatures are slowly making it hell for those people around him. I thought the premise was thin at first but the episodes I've seen lately are a bit more interesting. Of course, it could become effed up real quick like most of these types of shows eventually become.

    Look at that Community rating!

    by SifoDyasJr

A 2.2 may not be CBS numbers, but for NBC's Thursday's, it's close to a home run! It even carried 30 Rock to the best numbers of this season.

  • ...until tragedy struck. Now, he's out on his own, fighting crime and corruption in his own way as a private eye on the mean streets of L.A. Grimm. Thursdays at nine. This Fall.

  • March 16, 2012, 4:05 p.m. CST

"Grimm..." OK which show is that again?

    by Triple_J_72

  • Why, then, isn't it a ratings blockbuster? The show just cops out of its own premise. If you're going to ape "Buffy," just friggin' DO IT, and quit pussyfooting around with a half-ass police procedural.

    I Used To Watch This

    by Urall Luzers

but it's just godawful. How the fuck do they always get assigned the cases with the monsters or whatever? The Force?

  • March 16, 2012, 4:29 p.m. CST

    Good!

    by purplemonkeydw

This show is my fav guilty pleasure. Love the show, love the town they film it in. Can agree with some of the comments on the lead, but I think he's grown into the role over the course of the season.

    Please start ripoff-ing Buffy...

    by Billyeveryteen

He hasn't been Grimming at all. He just keeps getting his ass handed to him. The Bludbad completely owns this show.

  • March 16, 2012, 5:59 p.m. CST

I like it. It's fun although somewhat repetitive.

    by mistergreen

  • March 16, 2012, 6:45 p.m. CST

ummm. didn't chuck get canned for low ratings?

    by mcgillj

Sorry.. but this show was awful. The only good i saw was Silas weir Mitchell. Bland isn't even a weak enough word. Granted chuck had kind of spun its wheels creatively the previous 2 seasons. But Grimm never even found any real traction. The biggest problem is the lead who is just so damn. Boring, to be kind.

    I tried to like it

    by Rob0729

IDK, just not loving it. Got a six or seven episode backlog. It doesn't seem to want to move the story along and the monster of the weeks are pretty weak.

    by bongo dummy

You sunk my battlesh....wait. Actually, my spell check didn't emit a high pitch whine so I let the spelling go. If you are thinking I spelled TORTUOUS incorrectly, I didn't . Tortuous as in "twists and turns". that was just an attention-getter headline to justify the time even writing anything on AICN. I rarely do post here. If I spelled something else wrong in the earlier post or in this one, oh well.

What do we have to do to get a replacement of Buffy or Angel

    by Nate

I have waited too many years for a show to come along that fills the void left by the cancellation of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly. I thought Supernatural might do it, but it's not goofy enough. The first few episodes of Grimm I watched just sucked. The only show that comes even remotely close is Lost Girl, and it still doesn't quite do it. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO GET ANOTHER AWESOME WHEDON SHOW??

    Monroe saves Grimm

    by Alientoast

If the show didn't have Monroe, it wouldn't be as enjoyable. Call it the 'Kato' effect if you like...the sidekick makes the show, whereas the lead can be kinda 'meh'. Even on a show like Lost Girl, Kenzi has a lot more charisma then Bo. Although in a case like Kenzi or Monroe, they are both the "nerd" characters, so your target audience is probably able to better identify or appreciate them more. Back to Grimm, it's not a bad show. I would like them to ramp up the "main story" a bit though vs. the "monster of the week" it currently is. Not that a monster of the week format is bad, but it would be nice if they progressed things a bit in every episode. Nick's also kind of an asshole to Monroe a lot. "I need your help on something. Thanks, now get the **** out!". Right now the show needs a strong catch...something that makes you want to tune in each week to see what happens.

  • March 17, 2012, 11:43 a.m. CST

    Sidekick for the Save

    by bongo dummy

Monroe. Yeah that's his name. He does add a lot simply because he's the only character who is ever really enthusiastic about anything. Everyone else is either nearly non-emotional or in the case of the Grimm, kind of grim.(though, I like the comparison to Tobey Mcguire--the man who is there and yet not there) Then there's the cop partner who is bitter one week, cares a lot the next week. Then he's clueless one week, suspicious of things the next week, etc. The partner should just be told and think Grimmy is crazy or something. That would be tough to pull off and I guess that would be a lot like the X-files partner dynamic is. The police chief -or what ever he is- that is a monster is an interesting twist but it isn't like the show pushes that angle all the time. I'm not even sure I remember if he knows the Grimm guy is a Grimm guy. He'd have to if every other ratfink knows. One funny thing about the show is Grimmy McGuire's lady is a veterinarian. In a world of human-animal chimeras, what is a veterinarian to do? I guess another funny thing is that there aren't a lot of pets shown on the show. There was the mouse family, that owned mice. But, no one talks about their dogs or cats or birds.

It lost me around Episode 4 or 5.

    by CatVutt

As pointed out above, it's relentlessly dull and repetitive, not to mention that retarded Grimm gift that only allows him to see the true demon forms at precisely the moment that it becomes plot-convenient.

  • March 17, 2012, 12:36 p.m. CST

Ok, but please try harder in Season 2

    by 3D-Man

The cast is solid and the FX are decent, but every episode is the same. The cops get assigned to a case that just so happens to involve a Bludbad. The main character meets with his Blubad consultant and then reads up about the baddie in his magic book. And then the baddie is killed. The end. The show definitely has potential, but they need to take it somewhere interesting soon or it's off my DVR list.

    Good!

    by jwardlow

Dunno... not a perfect show but nothing is. I like Grimm, actually, even if the premise is shadowy. The actual Grimm brothers were not EVEN all about their monstrous fairy tales. The made-up Germanic names for the creatures are cool, and actually mean something. We do need more character-driven stories though, not monster-of-the-week stuff. Besides, the writers will eventually run out of ideas for new ones. I'm confused though. Nick, as a Grimm, can sporadically see through the creatures' camouflage, right? So what do THEY see and how/when do they know he's a Grimm? Hitler as a creature... lame, but still cool at the same time.

  • March 17, 2012, 3:22 p.m. CST

they should fire the lead. there's a gay vibe about him

    by chien_sale

The director worked on Will & Grace so I wouldn't be surprised if he hired the lead

  • March 17, 2012, 4:21 p.m. CST

    I don't hate it

    by Jakester

But it loses to "Supernatural" and "Fringe" for DVR space. Plus, I really wish that NBC would've greenlit "17th Precinct" instead of "Grimm."

I really wanted to like this.......

    by sam jacksons wig

...the premise seemed okay, but I found myself quite frankly bored with the whole thing, and unfortunately gave up on it after 4 episodes of "run of the mill" supernatural hocus pocus and quite possibly the shonkiest FX I have seen on TV for quite some time. For me, destined to take place in the Terra Nova hall of shame. What a great waste.
