Warren Ellis’ Combat Magician GRAVEL Gets A Director!!

I am – Hercules!!

“Gravel,” the movie based on the excellent Warren Ellis comic book series about a soldier who uses real magic against Britain’s enemies, is growing closer to reality.

Visual effects man Tim Miller, who directed the title sequence in David Fincher’s “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo," is now set to direct “Gravel” from a screenplay by the team of Oliver Butcher & Stephen Cornwell (2011’s Liam Neeson thriller “Unknown”).

The project is not to be confused with “Hobgoblin,” a proposed HBO series about con men and magicians who conspire to bring down Hitler.

Ellis’ comic book work includes “The Authority,” “Global Frequency,” “Planetary,” “Astonishing X-Men,” “Ignition City,” “Mek,” “Reload,” “Iron Man: Extremis,” “newuniversal,” “Ultimate Fantastic Four,” “Ultimate Galactus,” “Ocean,” “Orbiter,” “Jack Cross,” “Ministry of Space,” “Fell,” “Gravel,” “Dark Blue,” “Scars,” “Wolfskin,” “Blackgas,” “FreakAngels” and “No Hero.”

Ellis’ excellent “RED” was made into Robert Schwentke’s highly disappointing 2010 Bruce Willis movie.
