If the Golden Globes folks liked Dinklage last year, he's a shoo-in for next year too! Tyrion Lannister really steps up as a character in 'Clash of Kings'...
by obijuanmartinez

Like the ending but hate what they did with Jon Snow.
-
You mean the part where he ropes a fire horse, kicks ass with his magical Glaive, and uses the flame of true love to burn up The Beast? Yeah, I though that sucked too.
-
the part at the end when the Crows attack.

Just re-watched Game of Thrones, it's even better the second time
by happybunni
Certain episodes used to annoy me. Usually the ones where Brandon Stark or Daenerys Targaryen were the focus. Then Daenerys ended up becoming such a badass by the end. When I was re-watching all the episodes, not a single scene bothered me... It was all fantastic watching them back to back. Finished them in a day!
-
in order to keep popular characters around longer? Can someone explain that to me, I have not cracked the books yet. I've just heard this is the case. And I'm not judging them for this, just honestly curious about it.
-
Does he turn straight?
-
The series doesn't diverge from the books in the death department. Characters exit stage left right about the same time in both the show and the books. Most differences arise from the following: Minor characters in the book are combined or rolled into major characters in the show to keep the cast size manageable. Major battles in the book are synopsized in the show. Some characters in the show, like Theon's whore, exist only to be a sounding board for the other characters to deliver lengthy expositions about the history of the realm, and do not exist by name in the book. Everything is quite obviously condensed in the show. The books are freakin' long. They do a pretty good job though. They need to start using CGI direwolves though. Vaguely wolflike dogs won't cut it as they grow.
-
...is not explicitly in the book, though it's arguably hinted at.
-
hit over the head with a sledgehammer, then yeah, it was hinted at. Also George confirmed it about 10 years ago. Ros the whore was the only character from Season 1 that was created specifically for the show. This season there is also Alton Lannister, Kovarro and the Spice King.
-
And it has nothing to do with Game of Thrones.
-
Dany, Jon, Joff & Renly
-
I saw this a couple of days ago. I know someone said there were new character videos up on YouTube - the Joffrey video is good.

Interesting they've shown a peek of Tyrion holding a container of "the substance", but we have yet to viddy any Pyromancers - Looking forward to Roy Dotrice finally getting his day onscreen - His audiobook readings of this series are nothing short of mast

The first step is recognizing you have a problem. The second step, for me, was recognizing I do not give a fuck. I am left handed, by the way. Popeye on the left, Scott Pilgrim on the right. Your days of the week dedicated to certain acts and attributes have not helped much. Jesus, my writing is as stilted as Anakin and Amidala today. *Some thing is happening. I am not the Jedi I should be. I want more and I .. know.. I ..should... not.* By the way, it is Tittyfuck Tuesday is it not? Or am I way off?
-
I had heard it was something to do with putting more focus on Tyrion in the second season. But the writer was probably way off and just making assumptions.
-
I was mad about Jon Snow too, but it finally hit me the other day that if the red priest could give the kiss of life and bring back the dead, maybe Melisandre will do the same for Jon.
-
His reading of Watership Down was the best ever. Made it feel new to me.
-
I listened to the audio books before reading the series and loved Dotrice's readings of the first three books. I didn't mind John Lee's Feast as much as others did but thought Dotrice was horrid on Dance with Dragons. Whoever directed this version needs to be made to listen to 1-3 over and over again and then have Dotrice rerecord them to get the voices right. I did see that Random House redid Feast with him reading, wonder if he got them right for that.

Do not believe a GRRM character is dead until...*Spoiler*
by skycrapper
they are burned alive, disembowled, stabbed through the heart, stabbed through the throat, have their limbs ripped off by a giant, poisoned and die in front of everyone, poisoned from biting a coin, have a massive infection from human bite, skull crushed, or beheaded (with one character exception on that beheading thing). Everything else is fair game.

Weakest trailer yet, but who cares. Any new glimpses are sweet.

Hodor.

There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him
-
Remember the prolouge? when sixskins tries to warg into another human being to escape death?
-
Snow is fine. What happened to him is what you read about in the prelude with the wildling warg. I forget his name off the top of my head. That was the point of the prelude. Snow is not going anywhere...other than in his wolf.

As for the trailer - this one is targeted at the women, and plays up the Love stories

I agree, eman31. I grew to really like John Lee, and Dotrice on book 5 is painful
by bah
I've been reading the last book myself rather than listen to him. I listen in the car still, but I read as much of it as I can. All due respect for his past work, but he just doesn't have the chops anymore. I never did like his female voices, but they're atrocious now. John Lee's Bloody Mummers were excellent especially Shagwell.
-
FACT!!!!
-
Tyrion is pretty much the main character in the 2nd book; i think he has more scenes and Dany and Jon combined. So no, the HBO show is not putting more emphasis on him, it was already there in the source.

Game of Thrones is probably the only case where season1 had MORE content then the book...
by Rebel Scumb
Because characters like Jaime, Cersei, King Robert, Joffrey, Rob Stark, Theon, and a few others who are barely in book 1 (due to only being seen through the eyes of those characters who get their own chapters) were really enriched in the show by using material from flashbacks in later books, and just new scenes So I'm very curious to see season 2 and what they've added.

I saw GRRM speak live at the TIFF theatre last night, he read us the first chapter of Book 6: WINDS OF WINTER!
by Rebel Scumb
It was a very cool event, the interview was irritating, but GRRM himself was very cool and extremely funny. Getting a sneakpeek at Winds of Winter was a great surprise/bonus to. He mentioned that season 2 of the show has a lot more Rob Stark and his campaign in the West than the book did.
-
It is known.
-
I know there's a lot of expectations riding on this. There have been some doubts as to whether the second book can be properly adapted, but given the team involved I have utter and complete confidence they will pull this off.
-

Agreed sithtastic, my only skepticism is that HBO will actually do all 7-10 seasons of the show
by Rebel Scumb
I love their shows, but they have a terrible terrible track record for abruptly cancelling great show, especially their high concept/historical ones Plus over that many years popularity is bound to wein at least a little bit, and the actors may start to get movie offers and not want to keep on the show for so many years. Hopefully I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure they'll get through at least the content of the first 3 books, even if they divide book 3 into 2 seasons as has been rumoured.

Today I took gotilks advice for choppah... and it's working like a charm so far
by al
... I really don't give a fuck. Not much longer now. Until the Gush.
-
While not implicitly explained, the general inference is that Renly marries Margarey (Loras' sister) just to cement his alliance with house Martell of High Garden, but does not consumate the marriage, but his real love is for Loras. How much of this Margarey knows or doesn't know has not as of book 5 been revealed, but my gut feeling is she knows, and doesn't care because the marriage is politically advantagous to her also
-
but there's a part of me with a twisted sense of humour that wants HBO to april fool everyone with something like "dragonslayer" or "fire and ice"
-
Awesome trailer!

I like to think everyone involved in this show wants it to be the best it can be
by happybunni
From the CGI animators to the lighting guys to all the actors and actresses... When you're involved in something like this, that all your friends and family watch... You want it to be epic.
-
considering the rate that GRRM is churning out these novels, at some point, the HBO series is going to catch up to the books. What happens to the HBO series when they finish the most recently published novel? Are they just going to go on some extended hiatus? Are they going to invent a non-canon continuation/resolution to the series? Or are they going to go into Naruto-type fillers? God, I hope they don't do fillers. That would just plain suck.
-
after that my free three months of HBO go away.
-
I asked this myself, and apparently Martin has given the show's producers a detailed outline of where everything is headed, so theoretically they could just keep pushing ahead with the story Though it would be weird for the last book or 2 to come out after the TV adaptations of them, making them almost like novelizations of the tv show.
-
Cut down on the convention appearances, for starters.
-
they will have to adapt a feast for crow and dance with dragons. i don't think ther is enough juicy material for two seasons. Tyrion cruising and scaring whores. Jon Snow dealing with all the logistics at the wall, food supply etc... danerys thinking if it's really wise to fuck daario.Sansa playing babysitter. Brienne and her fool's errand. Jaime and the riverlords etc... and no battles, no war. i think they will have to either combine the two books and adapt it into one good season or two seasons with material borrowed from a wind of winters ( tha battle of winterfell and the battle in meereen)
