So much for GHOST PROTOCOL being the end of the line for Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt with the reins being handed over to Jeremy Renner to continue to franchise...
That still may happen sometime down the line, but not after Brad Bird's fantastic entry into the series that pulled in nearly $680 million for Paramount across the globe. The next step is figuring out how quickly they can take advantage of GHOST PROTOCOL's success with a fifth installment.
At the annual shareholder's meeting for Paramount's parent company Viacom, CEO Philippe Dauman was asked if there were any plans for development of another MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE sequel, to which he replied, "Oh, yes."
Thank you, Captain Obvious, but at least we now have something officially on the record to go on in waiting for another follow-up to occur... and please please please let it involve Brad Bird behind the camera again.
