Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has taken to Twitter to unveil the first look of Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp riding together as the Lone Ranger and Tonto in Disney's version of THE LONE RANGER.
It's a different look for the Lone Ranger, with director Gore Verbinski ditching the masked hero's typical blue wardrobe for a classier black suit look. Depp's Tonto is a far departure from what now would be considered a stereotypical Native American appearance. This definitely isn't the cartoonish pairing of old.
THE LONE RANGER came very close to not happening, with budgeting concerns over at Disney shelving the project for a bit. However, those numbers were able to be slashed a bit, in order to get it into a more comfortable money range for Disney. However, a $200+ million LONE RANGER...? That's going to be a tough sell from the studio that couldn't figure out how to market JOHN CARTER.
