AICN & Harry are joining the YouTube/Nerdist Channel!!! Come make fun of us!
Hey folks, Harry here... If you've been following me on Twitter - I've been dropping hints for a while now that I'm working up a YouTube Video Show... What I haven't said is that AICN is creating in conjunction with NERDIST, JIM HENSON CREATURE SHOP & LORNE MICHAELS PRODUCTIONS - a show that will bring you film history, news & entertainment. We'll have guests, hijinks and fun aplenty.
Today, Chris Hardwick, with the makeup assistance of Greg Nicotero has made his formal pitch for you to join our crazy experiment on YouTube. You see - there's a whole bunch of folks that are joining this endeavor. Neil Patrick Harris will be up to something with Puppets. Rob Zombie has a show. But really - I know you're going to love to point out that I'm still fat, that I'm even more illiterate verbally. And you might even think that I sometimes look like a puppet... but that's compliments of the Jim Henson Creature Shop. I'll be shooting the show at the "AICN STUDIO" in Highland Mall - which will be located between LensCrafters & Radio Shack - and I will be reaching out to the local geek community to join us from time to time - because AICN is nothing without all of you! I'll be embedding the AICN show weekly to bi-weekly here on AICN, but I highly recommend subscribing and checking out some of the other shows when they begin launching April 2nd.

Harry- I must say that the puppet is brilliant! Who wouldn't want the creature shop to immortalize them in such a classic Henson fashion? Heck- I can't believe you didn't go on and on about how cool your Muppet connection is. I know- you have had so many amazing nerd things happen to you in your lifetime. Maybe (?) this kind of thing is not such of a shock anymore. Or maybe you are just trying not to rant as much, which is good. Whatever the case, I just wanted to rant for you by saying THAT IS ONE FREAKIN' COOL PUPPET. I want my own jzarbaugh muppet. I have a new item for my bucket list.

I am excited about this for all involved. It sounds super fun. I know you'll get hassled, Harry, but don't give in to the idiocracy. Just keep being awesome and sharing some movie news and love with all of us. I do hope you have some kind of lame Mall-nametag in 70's orange and brown combo. Though in a weird way, I feel a little bit like I did when I saw The White Stripes perform on the pier in NYC and I KNEW they were gonna hit it big (and dragged my friend to see them in Atlanta soon after) and three months later their first music video came out and then everyone else knew, too.

The site has felt energized lately. Or I could just be really excited about JOHN CARTER and it's like ambient awesomeness. Whatever. I look forward to the near future. montycristo, don't you dare overhaul the site to include an edit function. We should always ahve to live with out mistaks.

We still can't even use quotation marks in the talkbacks, for god's sake. That's a glitch in the code that a 15 year old could fix in 10 minutes, and no one has cared enough to fix it in all this time. I'm just saying, I'll believe it when I see it.

I've been a listener to The Nerdist ever since the John Hamm interview In general, I like what they're trying to do. Yet although I usually give each new episode a shot, there are some times where I just have to shut it off. My reasons: 1. Chris Hardwick loves too much. God bless his enthusiasm -- he really does seem like a nice guy to his guests -- but sometimes his gushing is just overly effusive, and I can't handle it. (And conversely, I think Hardwick can get vicious when it comes to anyone criticizing the show.) 2. Jonah Ray, one of the cohosts, is not a "nerd." This is something Hardwick and co. have already addressed in the past -- indignantly ("Who are you to say who is a nerd?!?" People can be nerdy about lots of different things! How dare you!") -- but I think that when it comes to Ray, he doesn't feel like any nerd I've ever known. I think he's just a regular mook that they like having him around. 3. Not enough nerdy topics. The Neil Degrasse Tyson episode was good, even with the awkward moment of Tyson not wanting to say his daughter's name, but some of the other guests have me scratching my head scratching. Jenna Elfman? What?

If I traveled to the future, would Harry just be a puppet or cartoon head that was almost completely divorced from who he was as a living person? Would there be wiki entries devoted to who was the best Harry puppet voice? Would teenage girls cosplay as Harry for fun at conventions? Would corporations have bidding wars over who owns the precious Harry intellectual property? Would Harry be portrayed in underground comics having his way with Hitler and Snow White as a way of thumbing one's nose at the corporate establishment?

I used to be a fan of the Nerdist podcast, but haven't listened to a single episode since the Stitcher debacle.<P> Hardwick decided, quite emphatically, to put his own interests ahead of the interests of his listeners, and then stuck to his guns even when it became apparent that he was being a self-centered twat. Sorry, Chris, but that's not how you endear yourself to fans. "Me first, you second."<P> Funny how both Carolla and Maron have managed to squeak by with Stitcher distributing their shows. (Carolla's show even changed their initial withdrawal when Stitcher demonstrated a willingness to work with them -- imagine.)<P> Happy for Harry and AICN, but they've partnered with a douchebag.<P>

i actually like the simplicity of this site. i prefer the quick and dirty talkbacks more then anything. sites such a hitfix maybe full of adverts and clean looking but it has no soul. It's why i prefer hanging out here. In your pursuit of a revamp, please don't lose sight of what makes this site great And if you need some alpha/beta testers on the new look and feel of the revamped site, i'd be happy to help and provide feedback
