James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins? Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh? Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock?!? Looks like!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Variety is reporting that James D'Arcy has just been cast as Anthony Perkins and Scarlett Johansson has been cast as Janet Leigh in Fox Searchlight's ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO.

There were a lot of people on my Twitter feed when the Oscars rolled around decrying the uselessness of the awards show. I see why it's annoying watching Hollywood pat itself on the back for a few hours, but to deny it has any impact on the industry is just plain wrong.

If there was a theme among the nominated film this year it was movies about movies. The Artist, Hugo and My Week With Marilyn being the big examples. Now we're seeing a glut of movies about movies being greenlighted, including this film and Disney's Saving Mr. Banks, about Walt Disney courting the author of Mary Poppins.

This is a good trend in my opinion. I mean, Alfred Hitchock is going to be played by Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren is going to play his wife. This is going to be a helluva movie and I'd kill to be on the set when they recreate the Bates Motel.

D'Arcy also seems to be a great pick for Perkins. Check him out!

So, that's the news. What do you folks think?
