Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
I love getting these kinds of images. I mean, the official and professional studio stills are great, but there’s something special about the behind the scenes shots by people not actually working on the movie, a sense of excitement with each image taken. Case in point today’s series of 5 shots taken during the filming of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 by a fellow who just happened to be working across the street with noneother than Tom Savini when Tobe Hooper was filming his sequel.
Rusty Slusser is the photographer’s name and he is a maskmaker. In fact, one of his masks was used to great effect in Drive (you know the one, I’m sure). His website is www.spfxmasks.com.
The story goes that he was working with Savini and saw the production of Chainsaw 2 and started wandering around taking photos. Tobe Hooper saw him, requested that he stop taking pictures, then let him hang out and said fuck it and even posed for him.
These photos are great, featuring Hooper, Chop Top (Bill Moseley) and the Cook (Jim Siedow).
