A New Shot Of Hulk From THE AVENGERS Movie!!
Merrick here...
Earlier we got a look at two new photos from Joss Whedon's AVENGERS movies. There is a third new image making the rounds, this one appearing on ScreenRant. It shows, well, you can tell what it shows.
Hulk from the film. Punch him to EMBIGGEN!

NOT EVERYTHING IS NEWS!
-
It's my perogative...
-
The color tone is great..the really dark bieber hair throws me off a little..prolly just me but i had to do a double take
-
..but it is not blurry as in the trailer from the web player compression. This is a nice clear still.
-
Ruffalo too - sounds like something from Dr. Seuss: the marvellous Ruffalo!
-
Looks awesome. And I like that you can see Ruffalo's face.

And i still am! Get a real person and blow them up bigger on screen!

why is George Lopez mad in this shot?

So, they dusted off the John Woo Hulk and brought that back?
by Orbots Commander
-
I still prefer the Ferrigno incarnation the best, I'm ol' skool like that. Looking forward to this bad boy
-
Here's another one - new article
And...ten hours later here's another. New article time!

-
Now we have a problem with Hulks hair. Good God man...
-
Rubber hulk bounce. Rubber hulk ball.
-
While I haven't been a fan of the CGI Hulk, this photo has a sense of Ruffalo in the expression. I am reserving judgement on Ruffalo's acting as Banner though. Still, no complaints on its look thus far.

Seriously? That's just a vidcap of a shot from the Super Bowl ad.
by Cheif Brody
Please. I coulda given you that. How about a fully rendered cast shot...hi rez with the Hulk looming behind the other trick or treaters?
Vidcaps are news now?

As a fierce critic of subpar CGi... I think that Hulk looks great.
by Farrokh
-
...and it looks campy as all hell, there's no doubt I'll be seeing this in theaters, but I've definitely ratcheted down my expectations though. If it's simply entertaining and distracting enough and not annoying or overly long, then fine. The flick with my highest expectations, is of course, Nolan's Dark Knight Rises.
-
Still doesn't look like a physical object.
-
Appeared overly CGI in the trailer, just as previous Hulks did...but WOW, that still looks great. That does not look like CGI to me, and I'm pretty particular to it growing up on practical special effects. I hate the crowd who always says "a huge green man is always going to look fake to the human eye". Bull! That looks like a real huge green man, hats off for that particular frame at least...hope that pans out for the rest of the film.
-
...what they got right is that his skin isn't too shiny. It actually looks kind of like skin, which was a problem with previous versions.

I'm racist because I mixed up John Woo and Ang Lee? Maybe because I watched Face/Off last night? Guess that makes me racist. (Whatever-eye-roll)

-
It has a life to it.
-
Since this is supposed to be the same Hulk from the Louis Leterrier film (which I liked very much - great muscle tone, built more like a body builder on a low-carb diet than a big blobby giant), why isn't it ACTUALLY the same Hulk? Hulk isn't supposed to look like Banner (as he didn't much resemble Ed Norton in the last film) so redesigning him to include elements of Ruffolo's face was absolutely unecessary. Keeping the same monster would've helped smoothed over SOME of the continuity lost from having all of the same actors (but Norton) reprising their roles. Guess this is what happens when the ideas just keep rolling out and no one ever stops for a second to ask, "that sounds interesting, but . . why?!"
-
There's nothing to scale him against! Stop complaining, nitpickers!
-
That looks like the real difference. A lack of striated muscle definition and more body hair. Aside from that, still looks like CGI because; it's fracking CGI! It's always going to look fake; that's just the way it is.
-
That is all.
-
Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iPQPrz1GbM
-
Probably for the same reason every Star Trek director has to re-imagine the transporter effect.
-
*HULK NEED TAKE SHIT! FUCKING HAWKEYE! REPLACE EMPTY TOILET PAPER ROLL! MOTHERFUCKER!!! AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! HULK SMASH HAWKEYEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I like how dense he appears. I also like that he resembles Ruffalo a little. That's the way it should be! Keep it coming, Marvel!
-
...someone just opened the door when he was having a shit...
-
You say: *I take that back. Lou Ferrigno was more realistic as a 'hulk' than anything the movies have generated to date. Understandably, because he was actually there, alive on set, moving around in the real world* I think that a lot of movie CGI sucks, but... You have got to be fucking kidding...
-
just cause.

Some of you guys are too funny. I like the posts that say stuff like "WTF STILL FRAME THIS IS STOOPID" Guess what? Guess you are stupid too because you didn't read the 400 other people's posts that say the EXACT SAME THING. If you don't like how often someone posts news, or don't think it's news, and hate this site etc.... Go Away. The only bad section this site has is the talkback section, and that's because about 98% of the posts are, "OMG THIS MOVIE IS GUNNA SUCKS, I CAN TELL FROM ONE PICTURE." Ghandi, Jesus, Buddah and L. Ron Hubbard could make a movie that ushered in an era of world peace and most of you guys would complain that Ghandi is too bald, Jesus is too white, Buddah is too fat and L. Ron Hubbard wears penny loafers too often.
-
the features definitely have a more 'mongoloidy' look than the previous Hulks..
-
However, because this movie isn't about the Hulk, it might not be as big a problem. But I agree with the cast a man as hulk group. The Incredible Hulk with Bixby/Lou F. is still the best!
-
Ruffalo.
-
Just render in 3d anything Herb Trimpe did in the 70s. He's the master, so take the template from there. I do miss his work.
-
I agree- cast a man as hulk- Michael Cera or Jesse Eisenberg should do. Cuz they would be real. Geez, you guys......
-
bana hulk looked more rubbery. norton hulk looked more toned/shiny. this hulk looks about right. his skin seems more natural. this is the most realistic i've seen the hulk so far.
-
I simply cannot get excited about this movie....sigh
-
Yeah, but if she walked up to you and said: *You can tit fuck me, ass fuck me, or let me suck you off and I will swallow, but no vaginal penetration.* You would say: *No. I'm sick of the sight of you.* Hmmmmm......

Thanks for you support.
-
D'oh! I've just screwed me-self!!!
-
He's a great character. There are a lot of stories to tell. This CGI Hulk looks good. Having a CGI Hulk is probably alway going to be necessary in order to show the kind of power he has in the comics.

What's he up to? Is he in this? If not, then where the fuck is he? Johnny Depp is always on the big screen. Johnny Depp is everywhere. E V E R Y W H E R E

CG can't fool people but having a large guy in green makeup standing 10 feet tall due to forced perspective would? Maybe if you were 5 yrs old.

Looks good. Looking forward to Avengers. Too bad Norton's not in it though.

I can't believe how many people not only like the Ang Lee abomination (HA!) of a movie, but how many people dislike the vastly superior Ed Norton movie.

The desing reminds me to Ang Lee's Hulk on this photo. We'll see how he moves.
by kim
-
I hope this is good.
-
The hulk is about 9 ft tall and over 900lbs good luck finding someone fitting that description. Saying Farrigno was the best Hulk is like saying Adam West was the best batman or the effects for the 1st live action Spiderman on CBS were the best.
-
He should look more like ME.
-
What is it with Marvel being so cheap with their paychecks?
-
He's been hanging in there too long, its not anger making him pull that face.

jellypop: HULK always needs to take a dump - that's why he's so angry
by melonman
-
...he's tinted due to the toxic levels of poop he keeps within.
-
And none of those guys would hang out with L. Ron Hubbard.
-
maybe I'm hypercritical but I still think the skin tones and the skin shaders on the various Hulks in film could be more realistic looking.
-
..panty waist, milk sop, Banner! He should really work on the guns a little.... and why does he always look so angry anyways ? Is it because he has to take orders from that guy wearing that fabulous costume with the patriotic motif ?
-
I'D rather see Feragno painted up, that CGI crap just looks awful, or find some new body builder dude to paint up, how can u root for a guy who changes into a giant cartoon, sick of these movies half assing everything with cg, look at the new Fright Night they even used cg for some of the blood and it looked shitty actually all the effects in that looked like some left over crap from I am Legend.
-

I always thought the Lou, looked Bad-Ass on the old tv show, he still looks better even in 2012 than that fake ass cartoon looking cgi garbage
-
For all you TV/Ferrigno apologists--it's cool to be retro, but the Hulk on TV really had a terrible wig on. Really. The only truly great TV superhero (in terms of appearance) was Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman. The Hulk was great from the forehead down. Esp. confusing was the fact that Puny Banner had curly/wavy hair, and Hulk had straight haystack 'do. So I don't see how you could hold a CGI version (whose face actually resembles the actor playing Puny Banner) to be "inferior" to Mr. Universe in a bad green wig. Well, I don't.

Hulks got that classic Kirby scowl mouth thing going on
by JackieJokeman
Or is that just Ruffalos mug?

This is an English speaking forum.
-
This is most accurate and believable Hulk we've had yet. The one in the last movie looked like someone was going crazy with the silly string.
-
...Whedon the time he needs to craft this into the greatest superhero film of them all. PLEASE don't rush this out just cos you set a date!
-
JUST GET RID OF THE UNDER-BITE AND WE'RE GOOD. OK? IT'S DEFINITELY GETTING BETTER, BUT THE INCREDIBLE HULK DOES NOT!!! HAVE!!! A!!! FRIGGIN!!! UNDERBITE!!! AFTER ALL HE HAD BRACES WHEN HE WAS TWELVE YEARS OLD. SO ACE THE UNDERBITE AND I THINK YOU'RE GONNA BE GOOD, OK? *** JUST LOOK AT SOME OF MIKE ZECK'S AIRBRUSHED ARTWORK FROM 1988 OR JACK KIRBY'S HULK FROM THE 1970'S. JESUS! YOU CAN EVEN LOOK AT THE 1970'S MEGO SUPERHERO DOLL HULK TO GET IT RIGHT. THAT FACE IS CLASSIC INCREDIBLE HULK. NOW GO AND DO YOUR MAGIC... GO ON! YOU CAN DO IT!

That's the one thing that irked me about the Ang Lee Hulk. His gums and teeth were green in that movie - felt like someone hadn't bothered to do the detail work and so I just didn't believe it. Although my ideal Hulk would actually sweat (none of them seem to do that, even during underwater scenes) and veins would pulse on the skin. And one close up of Hulk and some normal sized human where Hulk is pissed and breathing hard and you have this sense that Hulk is *pinch* that close from opening his mouth and snapping the guys head off with his teeth.

I'm seeing more Jack Kirby in there but maybe a bit of Ruffalo as well.

He can do the voice as much as he likes, though.

What more do you fuckers want? I loved the the TV show when I was a kid...bixby and ferrigno and the music......was my favorite shit......But I have absolutely no desire to see some bodybuilder in green makeup. I mean cmon now. hahaha. You all would be shitting on that idea if it was the route they went. Other then Hulk and Iron man though.....this looks like "Village People the Motion Picture" Thor and Captain America look absolutley friggin ridiculous. Nothing against the filmakers or actors......it's just a ridiculous property to begin with. and ScarJo and Renner can look any way they want as far as I am concerned because I have never seen either character in a comic book. Never read the Avengers. But in my opinion Sarlette Johanson looks good in anything......even better in nothing.
-
I think hulk looks pretty much perfect. I understand why Cap wears the outfit in his movie, it's an icon of hope for the soldiers - fair enough. But now it's almost 70 years later, what's his reasoning for dressing in such a ridiculous manner ?
-
The original Hulk by Kirby wasn't a muscle bound giant, he was a big guy looking more like Frankenstein. Over the decades he evolved into a massive toned creature. This CGI Hulk looks about right, at least there's some decent expression on his face and the eye's look more real as opposed to the usual dead shark cgi eye's you normally see. With Hawkeye and Black Widow looking woefully inadequate as 'super heroes' ie oh look she's shooting a little hand gun at the Skrull's with no swinging around and Renner and I have to say Cap looking like extra's from a gay version of the team I think the Hulk looks great compared. What WILL win or loose is the cg movement, not the running but the subtle movements, they will make or break it.
-
Saying it because it is true.
-
THE FUCK THEY DO.
-
Holy shit! I paused the trailer, grabbed the pic...posted it on tumblr...and it got picked up. It is exactly it! Wow. The hand blur is exact. Yeah..I'm taking credit. You're' welcome.
-
hulk looks like captain haddock from tin tin
-
Which is a good thing!
-
That movie was almost 20 years ago, and it had CGI that is better than most of the shit being thrown around now. Watch this clip, and remember/realize that while some of this T-Rex is animatronic, it's all cgi after around 1:30 when it runs off to catch the road flare. Yeah, there are some thick matte lines around the creature itself, but it looks fucking REAL. http://tinyurl.com/6wkr7yv
-
It's always going to be tough CGI'ing a human(ish), but this looks immense. Nice work. HULK SMASH!!

Hey, I thought this was a new pic of the Hulk...
by DukieMichaelNamondRandy
...I clicked on it and all I see is a pic of Mark Ruffalo with a bit of green coloring! Oh, wait...
-
I totally agree with your point about Jurassic Park! I still say to people that it's the best use of CGI I've seen in a movie with the recent exception of District 9. It used CG as a tool to give us the impossible, and only when necessary...nothing to me is creepier than that little animatronic new-born velociraptor...which i think is funny because Phantom Menace, Stevey's buddy's movie, was the beginning of the death of CG, IMO.
-
Feb. 23, 2012, 9:01 a.m. CST
Funny how it would be completely impossible to make films today without cg and yet everyone bitches about it. You want a stop motion hulk? I know I do.
by UltraTron
But for a totally different movie directed by Robert Rodrigez. Oh wait that wouldn't work either because the reason they scrapped Mars Attacks stop motion is because it was more cost effective to do it digital- In 1996! So guys. You live in this reality with these budget constraints. Enjoy!

All the digital hulks have been fantastic. The first one looked kinda brisk commercialish. That was fun.
by UltraTron
The second one was all good. This one is the most realistic looking. You can see his back muscles twitching in the trailer. Looks like it'll be the best. Anyone see the animatronic hulk stan Winston built for the defunct hulk movie? That shit was awesome.
-
the miniature sets on the Martian spaceship integrated perfectly with the cg. I'd like a whole movie with little mini sets with cg characters in them. The sets add the same level of detail as reality. Look at corpse bride. See how nothing beats real light? I say mini-sets and digital characters looks cool.

As a HUGE Hulk fan who started collecting Hulk comics in the late 70s, I think this looks great
by Joe Plumber
He's not to unnaturally green looking, he's monstrously ripped and he looks natural as opposed to every other cgi incarnation. What more can you ask for? I loved Lou Ferrigno too, but honestly another body builder with green body paint would be horrible in this day and age.
-
Oh you mean the same Hulk that couldn't talk, let alone take a bullet? The same Hulk that threw people across the room instead of smashing super powered villians or the Army? Fuck FerrigNO!
-
Feb. 23, 2012, 10:58 a.m. CST
HULK had one of the best runs during the 70's thanks to Sal Buscema and Ernie Chan.
by Stalkeye
Facto!
-
The bad guys, who have pretty much confirmed to be skrulls, are going to be mo-cap. Again, shit. Put some full-body costumes, ala Predator on some stuntmen and start tossing them around. I haven't seen a motion-capture costume yet that didn't look like crap, other than some of the ones in the Pirates franchise. If you are going to layer bad CGI over top an actor, just use CGI for the whole thing.
-
The Hulk TV series was done as it should have been at the time. It was about Banner trying to live with a demon inside him, not about comic villains. Yeah, by the later seasons, it got tedious; Banner slinks into a new town, takes a menial job, tries to do the right thing, angers local thugs, hulks out and kicks ass, then has to move on to the next town. It was based on the character of the Hulk, not the comic exploits. It focused more on Banner's struggles. Hell, I'm 39 years old, and still get a little choked up when I hear "The Lonely Man."
-
to speak the truth about how GREAT Ferrigno and Bixby's show was.
-
Ruffalo as the lead. Assuming they don't screw up the character.
-
no matter how much the computer tries to make the animation appear real, it can't convince the human BRAIN. They could cast a man and digitize the buildings or surroundings smaller than him. It would be more effective than having some fake looking green man along with the real actors. Roger Rabbit.
-

Guys saying this looks like Ang Lee's Hulk must be trolling or legally blind.
by hank henshaw
The one thing that this Hulk shares with the Hulk from 2003 is the body proportions, which is a good thing. Other than that, this one doesn't have that plasticine feel or the bright green skin, that made the first CGI Hulk look like a cousin of Shrek. Some people seem to complain just for the sake of complaining.
-
just made me think of John Belushi and the SNL sketch.
-
PLEASE DON'T SUCK!!!!
-
What's up with his eyebrows? I hope they explain in the film. Maybe he caught Loki trying to shave one off?
-
That is the best looking Hulk ever. The complainers need to have their attitudes examined...
-
Nice catch, but I think it's tucked under his right corrugator. Probably a touch over-exaggerated, though.
-
Feb. 23, 2012, 3:47 p.m. CST
Rumor has it, they are going to "explain" why Banner looks different..... the drugs he got in the IH, changed his appearance.
by Nick
-
Here's hoping Whedon does the improbable and makes this a damn good movie!
-
Those of you who are saying that were literature challenged as kids and never read Hulk comic books to see how the character was supposed to be. The TV Hulk is not the real Hulk. Real Hulk was the one introduced in the 60s and popularized in 70s with no major changes. Ferrigno was a regular dude painted green. It was lame and even though I watched as a kid, I knew it was lame at the time.
-
You can't be serious with your post. CGI is never going to be able to create photorealistic humans because it is just a tool. The limitation is not technology, it is the human brain and abilities. We won't have photoreal CGI humans until computers have real artificial intelligence, and then they can figure it out. And at that point, the world is totally different and all of this is not within our lifetimes and probably not in our children's either.
-
According to a big Hulk fan.
