Pic from ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE

Published at:  Mar 04, 2000 1:33:20 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry the hairy ape here with this image from ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE. I'm not going to type much because I think this image will stretch the screen...and here at the Moriarty Labs Spa & Resorts, they have limited rendering software. Really kind of tragic. He's so preoccupied with... Pnuematic tubes... whatever those may be... here ya go... looks weird... this came from The Little Green Man...

I'm pretty sure I caught this pic somewhere ( I think at upcomingmovies.com) and the quality was 1,000,000 times better. It gave a much better impresion of the depth of the cgi characters, this looks like a baddly done "who framed roger rabbit"

I'm probably going to avoid this one. It looks silly to me. Now, I've heard it's in the satirical vein of the cartoon, but still - that trailer made my stomach churn - and you gotta know that De Niro's slumming. Waiting for some feedback...

R&B is very American and may not go down well elsewhere.

    by roborob

Rocky and Bullwinkle has never been very populer here in the UK unlike George of the Jungle (the cartoon not the Movie, although I liked it). The British audience might not know what to expect, but if the film is well written and the stars don't overact then it may prove to be a HIT. But I have to admit it does look a little bit childish which could mean those dreaded words here in the UK "STRAIGHT TO VIDEO".

Maybe the CGI will look crappy--doesn't matter. Maybe Jason Alexander, who up until that vomitable STAR TREK special I thought could do no wrong, will suck--it's all still gonna come down to this: did the writer and director know and love the original cartoon, and do they have the talent to make it as funny? Out here in the frozen wastes I've heard little about this movie. Do we know and love the writer and director? Do they try to do good work? Are they talented people or just your typical Hollywood no-nothings? Be sure to tune in tomorrow for BULLWINKLE DRIVES TO HOLLYWOOD or GO WEST, YOUNG MOOSE.

This movie will roc, no two ways about it. The trailer was funny, the cast is GREAT, and its based on a damn funny cartoon. Heck Deniro is involved!! Do you really think he would have signed on if the script DIDN'T rock the llama's ass with a belt??? No way!! I loved the George of the Jungle movie. It was like the cartoon come to life with the same witty humor. Unfortunatly I didnt get a chance to catch Dudley Do-Right. I think this will definatlty rock.

    Script info from source

    by peterparker

Ok I hate doing this cause I know what is going to come of it.. but... I want to post this because a friend of mine is in the movie.

I was very very concerned with this movie when I heard from my buddy what they were aiming for. They are shooting for a PG-13 rating. The script reads a lot like Roger Rabbit, a bit of slapstick, over exaggerated characters, terrifically unreal action and situations. Overall from what I read of the script and what I have been told firsthand is that this movie will be a family film with adult humor.
The special effects are going to be good. They spent some cash with ILM and others to insure a good mix of live actors and animated charaters. Give it a chance. Watch the trailor when it hits then post your rants.

I can't believe that they couldn't stay true to the original costumes. Boris's mustache is much much shorter (relative to his face) in the original cartoon and Natasha's boobs are much smaller. I had high hopes for this movie but now I can see that it is just going to be some weak Matrix rip-off.

De Niro had better know what he's doing, otherwise I'll never be able to watch Goodfellas again without crying myself to sleep afterwards. This could be the next Roger Rabbit, or it could be the end of a few careers. I'm expecting this to be good, but it could so easily go tragically wrong.

    SCRIPT

    by santos

I read the script last week. I'm afraid the film is going to suck. It's nowhere near as funny as Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The story is lame, the characters are boring. I am sure the sfx are going to be ok, but you can't do much with the animation of Rocky & Bullwinkle as they are. And WHY do they remain animated while Fearless Leader, Natasha and Boris are reallife characters ??? The story does not explain this.
Maybe it will be a fun kids movie, but it certainly won't please any adult.

    by ah ha!

To those that are worried that Rocky and Bullwinkle won't appeal overseas... well you're probably right, but it will appeal to the certain percentage of people that the film is aimed at, which doesn't seem to be the main stream. This is good, if the film is satirical than it's a winner, case closed. I'm a 17 year old from Australia, and I know who Rocky and Bullwinkle are (and so do the smarter of my friends). I know I'll be fully supporting the film. By the way, no one better be knocking Roger Rabbit. It's excellant. End of story.

    CGI is better than this

    by terry_1978

This picture is a little faded, because the real media preview of the trailer shows rocky and bullwinkle with a LOT more shading and greater detail. They're animated, but they look realistic. I'm seriously hoping the humor is the similar to the old cartoons that I never miss on cartoon network......and if this flick pans out, we'll probably be seeing Animaniacs in the works, with pamela anderson as "Hello Nurse!"

    Moose and Squirrel ramblings

    by stoodie51

This photos is a bit strange to look at. Hopefully the animated characters will blend a bit better with the live action in th final film. Everyone who is a fan of Bullwinkle is going to expect great things from this film, and I hope it can deliver. Personally, I've always been skeptical about bringing classic shows to the big screen, and I'm afraid I've been a bit skeptical about this one, too. But, I spoke with Ken Lonergan, the screenwriter of Rocky and Bullwinkle at the Sundance Film Festival in January and, especially after seeing his film there (You Can Count On Me) I feel a little better about the prospects of Bullwinkle. He didn't tell me too much about it, except that he's concerned about how it will come off on screen. He even said something about the studio tweaking things here and there. But You Can Count On Me was a very funny, sweet film, so I think Lonergan's a talented guy, and he tried to do justice to the original material. Time will tell, I guess.

    Looks keen.

    by nutsy

Surprisingly, Robert De Niro *does* look his part as Fearless Leader, and Jason Alexander doesn't look quite so out of place as Boris as I'd worried. Rene Russo could be the original Natasha's doppelganger, and to whoever said she has a "Gilette jaw" -- yes, exactly. :) I wonder what the deal is with the st000000pid _Matrix_-ish wraparound sunglasses is, though. The Bullwinkle model looks excellent, at least in the still, but Rocky looks ... not quite right, somehow. Not round-faced enough, I guess. And sort of blobby and shapeless below the waist, like the poser had difficulty twisting his legs around to look like he's standing on the ground instead of (as tends to plague effects-heavy movies on budgets -- NBC's _Alice in Wonderland_, anyone?) floating in its general vicinity. Floating, of course, wouldn't be inappropriate for our flighty (pun intended) bucktoothed friend; not as inappropriate as that ghastly scowl, anyway. It's true that this photo has turned up on other sites before this one, but this is the best copy I've yet seen for size and detail. As with the television show _Futurama_, clearly this movie's producers are going for computer animation that looks more animated than computed.
