Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with a little bit of casting info fun from the sexy folks over at Variety. With films like WHITE GIRLS, LITTLEMAN, and a spot on NORBIT... I'm just kidding, I'm actually a fan of funnyman Marlon Wayans and watched THE WAYANS BROS. religiously when I was younger and let's not forget how much ass he kicked in REQUIEM FOR A DREAM. Well it's safe to say he's been a part of some great projects, however he's also been a part of some of the nastiest shit to fly onto cinema screens and unfortunately it feels like that's what we're getting with his latest directorial effort: SMART ASS.
("Wait, so I'm not going to be in the sequel?")
What's SMART ASS all about? Prepare your jaw to drop:
It's a parody film based on the found footage "genre." Think some sort of CHRONICLE of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY with a bit of REC.
Sound good to you? I'm slightly skeptical (Sorry to sound like a jaded dick, but really...), however I don't really know where the guy's taking it and it might actually be fun - I'd love to eat my words on this one. One nice move the guy's pulled off is casting hottie Essence Atkins (SMART GUY/ARE WE THERE YET?). Wayans plans to star in the independent film as well as co-driect it with a Mr. Mike Tiddes.
I've seriously got my finger's crossed for Wayans to blow the doors off this movie and who knows? (I will say this, if at some point whomever is filming drops their camera inside a cave and when they go back to retrieve it it's all caved in... just explain how the footage got out and was used in the film - then again that's a can of worms with "who cut the film?" always in question too)
