HANNA's Saoirse Ronan to boss around seven little people
Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with a bit of casting news via the lovely group at Slash Film. Disney's been kicking around a reboot/revamp/reimaging of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES for a long while now and has had an incredible list of talented men and women involved with a draft churned out by Michael Chabon. According to the Slash Film article, when Universal (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) and Relativity Media (MIRROR, MIRROR) both kicked their own versions of the fable off, the project lost momentum. Honestly, how many versions of this thing can we handle?
With Hollywood's creative genius focused on unnecessary reboots, sequels to films no one asked for, and films based on boardgames that have jack all to do with the actual toy product starring pop stars at least this flick's got a talented young woman who can carry a film involved. As the title suggests, Saorirse Ronan (HANNA) is in talks to play the lead in THE ORDER OF THE SEVEN. This version however is Snow White minus what exactly makes Snow White Snow White... It's a martial arts flick. You read that correctly - their angle is "Let's make a SNOW WHITE film, but let's ignore the story altogether and make it an action film with martial arts." I can't help it, my utter skepticism at the onslaught of SNOW WHITE we are about to endure might have me sounding a bit jaded, but I am a fan of Ronan - so I'm hopeful. What about you guys and gals? Would you see this movie?

All their advertising shows a Chinese person front and center, there's going to be a second Disneyland in China, and most of their movies from At World's End and on all feature adventures in China, even Alice in Wonderland.

Sure, it's a classic story in the public domain...but I don't think anyone's been sitting around saying, "hey you know...I could for another Snow White movie again. No scratch that, I could go for THREE Snow White movies!" I mean...really? At least the Stewart/Theron one looks semi-entertaining. Tarem's looks profoundly embarrassing for all involved.

Remember, in JF Sebastian's place there was even a little dwarf replicant toy dude. The only thing that might suck for you is if these other Snow White films tank. Kinda like what happened to my idea of Cops and Robots when it became apparent that Cowboys and Aliens was a box office dud.

I don't think there's anything wrong with taking an old folktale and rearranging the details to make a new movie. I always thought "Ball of Fire" was kind of fun.

Ok, this is the ultimate proof of something we already knew. Hollywood is officially dead, kaput, ruined, drained of ideas and originality. I have had it up to my ass with reboots, reimaginings, needless follow-ups and prequels. This year only Brave, Prometheus, The Hobbit and whatever comes from Woody Allen excites me. The rest has zero interest from me. Come on, Hollywood, surprise me. Fat chance

As Slash Film (and all other stories I've read on this) note (and at least one other person above), because of the other Snow White films, Disney has changed this and it is NOT a Show White film. Saoirse Ronan will be playing a different character completely.

Here's an idea - try another tale to turn into a female empowerment... Sleeping Beauty - except she's a pro wrestler that specializes in the Sleeper Hold. Cinderella - After escaping indentured servitude, Cindy comes back for revenge on her nasty ass stepmom ala Kill Bill. Rapunzel - Oh, wait... they already redid that one.

You should see Saoirse Ronan in the movie ATONEMENT, where she stole the movie from other heavyweight actors. She was deservedly nominated for an oscar for best supporting actor at age 12. Her acting is magnificent in that movie.
