Here's The Red Band Trailer For Drafthouse Films' THE FP!

I missed this at SXSW last year, and have regretted it ever since. Take THE WARRIORS and throw it in a blender with FLASHDANCE... but that's not even close, really. Tim League saw this at SXSW and he knew he had to have it for his new Drafthouse Films studio. And judging from this new Red Band trailer, it just looks like awesome fun. Here's the trailer:

I still can't believe this is a real movie and not a sketch. Still, it has a bit of a Walter Hill "Streets of Fire" vibe. I would watch it.

Sorry but that is just trash which infects the use of The Warriors in comparison or as a link. I'm sure some prefer their films to come out of 'left field' as you Americans say but that is straight out of the film school of toilet and needs a double flush! Funny for being super awful for about 2 mins and then tiresome crap after that...

It looks like a good College Humor sketch, but as a 90-minute film? There's ONE joke in this movie, and the rest takes itself TOO seriously. I don't know, might be watchable.

This is a College Humor video right? Something from the Onion? No? It's real? Come on, this is Room/Troll 2 level. When I saw this trailer for the first time, I thought it was a joke. A parody, but then I realized it wasn't parodying anything. I like this site and all, I think some of the criticisms are a bit much, but saying this looks like awesome fun because it's playing at the DH and not calling it for what it is really undermines the credibility of what's going on here. This is one of the worst things I've ever seen. And don't tell me it's just a trailer becasue him dancing in the tires and the acting and the dialogue in those 2 minutes are enough to make this film laughable even if the rest was Casablanca.

Oh man this MUST be seen. That guy with the mohawk and the teeth is hilarious just to look at. But when he speaks, this becomes comedy gold! Please tell me this will be on VOD soon-ish. Great job, Drafthouse. Great find!!

I'm trying to be as sympathetic and understanding as I can toward this, but honestly... I'm not sure how this could be entertaining for 2 full hours. Or even five minutes. The fact they're dancing is a farcical story element, I realize, but are we supposed to take it seriously? I'm honestly not sure. From the trailer it seems it could go either way, which is kind of bad. If it's comedy, be a comedy. If it's not, don't be. Maybe the filmmakers themselves don't even know. This seems like a film that might've flourished six or seven years ago when dancey games were in their heyday. Maybe it was started six or seven years ago as a farcical poke at the trend. I'm just not sure it works on any level at all now. Guess we'll see.

Also, I just realized: one of the things that really, really doesn't work here is the fact they're all so "yeah, bitch! Motherfucker!" without doing the tiniest bit of violence to each other. Even as a farce, that's frighteningly stupid and really doesn't work at all. The whole thing was probably someone's party joke that caught momentum somewhere but now just seems like a colossal misfire. Sad.

If this is real, I kinda hated it at first, but by the end of the trailer I was kind of won over. I'd watch this, it has some damn good over-the-top funny lines. Also, if this is real, then I can see it becoming the next Napoleon Dynamite type of goofy and bizarre indie comedy. Get ready to hear everyone spouting off lines like: =Yo clam chowder!= =Damn sno-cone, what are for Halloween, a bitch!= =I challenge you to a beat off= =I hope you're ready for this shit, cranberry juice= Hey, don't knock my theory... remember Napoleon Dynamite had dancing in it too.

It was a truly awful theatrical experience, most definitely the worst of my life. The film was very bad in my opinion (as mentioned above, it would've been better as a sketch or a short film). I understand it's spoofing these types of films, but it's still very poorly done. On top of that, some "producers" (or some kind of people associated with making this film) behind us were EXTREMELY loud during the entire film. It was incredibly rude, and this was at the Ritz Drafthouse, where no one did a thing. Terrible film, terrible experience. I love the Alamo Drafthouse, they really know what they're doing when it comes to the cinematic experience, but with this film, and that particular screening, they really fucked up.
