The Behind the Scenes Pics of the Day are coming to get you, Barbara! Look! There comes one of them now!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Recently the Graveyard Zombie, Bill Hinzman, passed away, so with that on my mind I dug up there two Night of the Living Dead images.
They don’t feature Mr. Hinzman, but are from his scene. In fact you can catch young Russell Streiner in his civvies off camera behind Romero in the first picture. He played Johnny, Barbara’s brother who uttered the famous line in the headline. Since this was such an independent picture everybody was helping out, including the actors when they weren’t on camera.
Enjoy and click to enlargen!

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.
Tomorrow’s pic blows!

One of the best movies ever!!! I fucking love that behind the scenes.
-
...Linda Lovelace?
??Pseudo??
Out. -
That's Gary Streiner, Russ' younger brother - he was the location sound recordist for the film.

Excellent picks, Quint!

D'oh! Stuck my foot in it again. You for sure on that?

Hollywood's last 10 years output
-
Yep, that's definitely Gary, not Russ Streiner.
-
..it just changed how all horror movies after it were made. Ignorant cunt.

But seriously...can anyone ACTUALLY pinpoint the film where the walking dead became olympic-class sprinters a la '28 Days Later'?

Return of the Living Dead was the first film I know of to have running zombies.

Gary Streiner in pic and still hanging out in Cemetery today
by zombiemuseum
Yep, that's Gary Streiner who now lives near that Cemetery (as do I) and is actively involved in an effort to save the Evans City Cemetery from being torn down. Fans can soon buy pieces of the building in the background of that scene with funds going to restoring the chapel. www.FixtheChapel.com

First appearance of running zombies might be Umberto Lenzi's NIGHTMARE CITY.
by fustfick
Lenzi's zombies haul ass AND use weapons! NIGHTMARE CITY is a terrifically awful splatterfest that I wholeheartedly recommend to all zombie film devotees and Euro-trash cinema aficionados.
And NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is among the greatest films of all time. I thought everyone knew that. -
Filming a total masterpiece. The final half hour is still one of the greatest horror sequences ever. Still has the capacity to shock and stun with a truly iconic and pertinent ending.
-
....sucked. It's flat, uninspired, & actually looks like an extended television episode. Tony Todd's excellent performance can't save it. Plus it has the 'legendary' Menahem Golan name attached to it - always a bad sign...
-
So bad it's almost good. I stress the word 'almost.'

Let's all just revisit Harry's NOTLD 30th Anniversary DVD review
by larry sellers
For fun. Wondering if he's still keen on banning people who somehow managed to enjoy that shit.

Just go back in time and kill him right now. Let's face it. It was great for 3 or 4 movies.
by ultratron
Dawn trilogy. And maybe walking dead. I mean I guess you could include zombie land on a list of zombie movies that don't eat total shit.

NOTLD (90) Had some of the best zombie makeup FX in cinema history. Ever.
by cureguy
I think it's much better than the original. A lot scarier.
-
...but the bts pics of the day have been pretty lame lately.
-
This makes me very sad. He was the original zombie, after all. I met him a couple of years back at Spooky Empire, and saw him lead the zombie walk. He was really nice, and funny. Seemed in perfect health back then, but things can go downhill fast when you get up in years, sadly.

I think it's much better than the original.

Tried it on for size, sorry it doesn't work. Remake is still shit.

Word of Warning: Don't ever EVER watch Night of the Living Dead - Reanimated.
by knuckleduster
I went to a horror fest that showed it last year, thinking it would be a really interesting fan-made project. It's not. It's fucking horrible. There's no animation there. Just a camera panning over shitty sketches by shitty artists while the soundtrack to the original fiilm plays. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
