THE BOURNE LEGACY trailer is a bit Saul Bassy
Hey folks, Harry here... Over on Twitter, Frank Marshall just tweeted that Apple has published in Gloriously Embeddible Quicktime... THE BOURNE LEGACY trailer starring HAWKEYE. Now that we know that Clint was trained at Treadstone... he's essentially like Captain America... right?

Renner really kicked ass in MI: Ghost Protocol, and I think the guy can hold the lead in a movie pretty well. Glad for him, and looking forward to his.
-
Looks ok - I like Renner. I wonder if the film will use Moby's Extreme Ways, like the other Bourne films.
-
so alienated himself from Hollywood that he can only be the second banana? Shame.

So De Palma split screens are out and quasi-Bass is in. Got it.
by Margot Tenenbaum
I hope that in the next film Renner goes bad and in the third they have to call in Matt Damon to take him out.

Do the movie tickets come with barf bags? Just wondering...

Also did I spot that weird woman from Star Trek Insurrection?

I think I did. And Stacy Keach too. He's long due for a comeback.

Not bad mind you, just another, here we go again. I guess I'm not a big enough Bourne fan.

This is retreading familiar territory, but does look good
by angry kitty
Action sequences look reasonably well done and it is nice to see familiar faces from previous films for the continuity. Japan Allen, Brian Cox, are always excellent. And of course, Ed Norton looks like a promising addition. Now let's just see if Jeremy Renner can carry a lead role.
-
Joan Allen. Sheesh
-
but no Damon or Greengrass. I can't go to see this because how much I love the others. I will change my mind if the reviews are good though!
-
I like Jeremy Renner, but a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne, pass.
-
That dude is pure talent, Michael Clayton is as good as a thriller gets, if this can be that good but with action scenes, it will be masterful. Also, it has Edward freaking Norton! How badass is that?
-
guess i wasnt paying enough attention. not super excited, but im sure ill end up seeing this.
-
I don't know if I need to see it again
-
i didnt say anything bad, so i know it wasnt deleted.. it just disappeared... just like jason bourne... *bhawmmmmm*
-
Might be watchable, after all!
-

so Renner is being primed to take over both the Bourne and Mission Impossible franchises?
by Stifler's Mom
Conflict of interests. The roles are virtually identical. I know you paid you dues, man, but try not to jump on every single paycheck Hollywood offers you now that you've made it. Seriously, how many movies are you in this year?
-
Been there done that. This looks just like all the others except with less shaky cam and Renner instead of Damon. Again with the "Bourne was one of our best, and now he's gone haywire, we have to stop him." Boooooooring.
-
anyone read the script?
-
Renner looks awesome! He can handle and display more ass kicking then ever before!
-
Edward Norton is always a plus.
-
I think I will wait for that sequel. The Bourne Again
-
Wow. It's that ugly guy, now playing the same role that someone else played when it was a relatively fresh idea. CAN'T WAIT!
-
...have been released DTV alongside '8mm 2', 'Single White Female 2' or 'The Net 2.0'. Or 'WarGames 2'. P.S: And I'd want to watch a movie about a "heroic" brainwashed CIA assassincunt of a man in dizzying fight-o-vision, because...?

Nothing new, but that doesnt mean it cant be a badass action thriller

Am I the only one who thinks he has absolutely no acting range what-so-ever? When he first hit the scene, I thought, like many more, he was a good talent. But just lately, he appears to move in the same way, has the same mannerisms and uses his limbs to act the same way too. A bit harsh I know. But it just grinds me. And that's all folks.
-
O and apart from my bash, I think this flick will just be about how to kill people in various unorthodox ways. Count me in :)

a bit meh. waiting for an action film to blow my socks off
by therootstheroots

-
I guess I'm in the minority. Thought it was great in Batman Begins. Really gives a solid kinetic feel to the action.
-
The word "again" has suddenly lost all meaning...much like this series.
-
who cares... it still looks good.

-

It looks a bit 'been there, done that', but still solid.
by Orbots Commander
It piqued my interest, so I'll give this one a whirl. Whether I catch it eventually in theaters or on DVD is a whole other matter. (It takes a lot to get me to go to theaters these days, outside of a date. My last excursion, with two friends, to see Chronicle, was the nail in the coffin for movie theater going for me. Crap sound, people walking in and out with the door to lobby staying open, bright 4 inch plus smart phones glowing all over the place, people talking.... And this, for $10-$11? It's over, Johnny.)
-
You being the first Douchebag in this thread to post the ever-douchy "Yawn", get the Ebola virus award. Hopefully your ability to type is affected first, followed closely by your mouth falling off. THIS looks interesting and if the script is solid and the action great, who GIVES A FUCK IF WE'VE COVERED THE TERRITORY BEFORE?
-
I would love to see Damon back as Bourne but I will accept this as a side story in that universe. Here's hoping it'll be good.
-
I have higher hopes than I originally had for this movie. I really enjoy Renner and think this role will be good for him. Obviously would prefer to see Damon back, but I can accept this!

by Tikidonkeypunch
Then you complain why Hollywood greenlights shit like this.
-
i'm stay away from this. never liked renner anyway. lacking in the looks department. they should have made a movie of how he and his mates got attacked on Phuket, Thailand recently instead.
-
I didn't watch the other ones because of Damon. But I'll definitely be catching this one.
-
...quit banging on about "shakey cam". We get you don't like it. So fuck? Most of us do, so shit off, you cocks!
-
I like that the studio chose to build on what came before instead of rebooting. Now, before anyone thinks "duh" or "no shit", Hollywood isn't exactly known for setting trends. Rather, they follow trends without considering other options. Take the latest Spider-Man fiasco. One of the numerous reasons that Spidey is probably gonna nose dive at the BO is that they are telling the damn origin over again. Sony chose to reboot because it worked famously well for Batman and Bond, what's the difference, right? Every situation is different! Considering the climax of Nolan's Batman series, maybe it isn't such a good idea to reboot... again. Maybe it'll be best to just go forward, building on what Nolan established. There would be absolutely nothing wrong with that. Look at the Burton/Schumacer Batman flicks. Each and every one of those is different in tone and execution from the last, yet similar as a series of films. With Superman, Warners tried to continue the classic Reeve series, but it didn't work even though everyone's heart was totally in the right place. Now we'll have to see what Nolan and Snyder can achieve with the material, and that's exciting. I personally consider the Bourne films to be modern action film masterpieces. The successor to John McClane, Indiana Jones, Rambo, et al. And though I'm not the biggest Greengrass fan, he was perfect on Bourne, but Tony Gilroy is one of the finest screenwriters we have today and he is quite intimate with the Bourne series, also, Michael Clayton is one of the new classic greats of cinema. I am very much looking forward to see what he does with this new direction. Renner is certainly up to the task, and has a fine screen presence. Most exciting is the possible confrontation between Renner and Damon. Yeah, the possibilities are pretty much endless even when you don't jump to a reboot.
-
I was ready to write this one off, mostly cause I like Damon so much, but that looks good. I'll be giving it a chance come opening day.
-
The Bourne series is one of my favourite ever, and this trailer gives me no reason to think I will stop enjoying these films for now. The Damon trilogy had a drive which made them unique, especially when revenge became a big part of the plot after the begining of the 2nd one. This new movie will not have that drive. But Renner and Norton are great actors and Tony Gilroy is talented. So basically I'm sold :-) For those who hated the shakey-cam... that didn't stop the 2nd and 3rd Bourne movies from being immensely popular so I guess many people loved Greengrass' style.

I'm a fan of Joan Allen's Bourne character so I hope she's in for more than a cameo.
by Margot Tenenbaum
One of the joys of the third Bourne film is almost every CIA HQ scene ends with David Strathairn being thwarted hilariously. I hope that continues.
-
Or perhaps just have an Ian Holm cameo. I've never seen so many people WHINE AND BITCH about "shaky-cam" as on this site. If you can't tell what's going on, you're an idiot. You have problems with your vision. You lack the ability to see properly. You suck. At. Seeing.
-
So of course he's not running from the organization. He's not being inconsistent. He's working for them. He's being consistent. Are you people that dense?
-
Even if it's good, I might rent it. A Bourne movie needs Bourne.
-
and I tore my scrotum and broke a few ribs. I doubt Renner had any damage from the jump though.

-
I'm serious.
-
needs Damon cameo. Not too late to shoot one.
-
This is going to under perform big time for Universal. I like Renner, but this has epic fail all over it.
-
Will we ever get a 'versus' movie of Jason Bourne versus James Bond? 'Bond on Bourne' Bond versus Bourne versus Ethan Hunt' yeah that'll sell me tickets! All movie stuios should do what Marvel does and get people to show up in each others films... I wanna see all kinds of mashups!
-
MI4 had some of the best non shakey cam action sequences. But I still wasn't that effected by the shakey cam in th bourne films. The bourne ultimatum IMHO has to be the best action film of the noughties.
-
Sorry, that wasn't a commentary on the redundancy of the Bourne films this time, I'm actually pretty drunk. But seriously, "I'M IN YOUR OFFICE LOOKING AT YOU RIGHT NOW!" AND WHO AM I?
-
But Renner seems far, far less appealing than Damon. Unless his character is meant to be that way, in which case all that we may be left with is unrelenting badassery - something the Bourne films were clever enough to avoid. Still, nice to see the cast continuity. Might be good.
-
A couple of short reframes and a slight zoom in. You chaps need to stop confusing quick cutting with camera movement.
-
clean-up on aisle 7!
-
Greengrass is better than most at it though
-

Rather see it done like this instead of rebooting it...
by Andrew Coleman
Like I would rather they just continued Spider-man instead of pulling the "Will start is again in high school for the Twilight crowd!" which is bull shit. Same kind of goes for Batman. Unless Nolan straight up kills Batman I'd like to see someone keep going with it but just add a little more sci-fi to the mix.
-
Looks like a whole heap of fun.
-
That should be the tagline.
-
He's very unassuming in his characterization with the role's he's had. I've never been a damon fan but he did an excellent job as Bourne. Jeremy should fill those shoe's nicely. The main tricks just going to be how different the situation in this one is and how the characters react. And mor joan Allen
-
I agree! I liked it in batman begins and the bourne movies. I've never gotten the nausea motion sickness people complain about. to me it just makes me feel like I'm right in the middle of the action
-
I was happy when Greengrass wasn't signed for the next one, but bummed when Damon dropped out. This trailer has restored my faith. I've loved Renner ever since 28 Weeks Later and finally he has a lead role in a major franchise. Hopefully it's a good flick and does well so we get more of them.
-
Feb. 8, 2012, 10:05 p.m. CST
Why are people saying the trailer has shakey-cam?
by Nasty In The Pasty
I didn't see ANY shakey-cam in that trailer. Fast cutting, yes, shakey-cam, no.
-
I'm thinking "over-exposure".
-
Why is the movie has "Bourne" in title when it isn't really about Bourne? Norton looks good. I hope they set him up as some sort of hunter of "Bourne wannabes" like Renner's character, so he can be a recurring one. For a change would like to see one character in these movies who "gets away with it".
-
No matter what, his face always looks doughy and soft. He can't convey or achieve a square-jawed, lean predator like look no matter what. He looks like Brendan Frasier and Tobey Maguire had a love child. The only movie I liked him in was Hurt Locker, and that was mostly for the incredibly good material he had to work with.
-
Being involved with, "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" AND "The Bourne Legacy"? Wtf? He's a good actor, but they shouldve gotten someone else for this. I'm happy they aren't using the Jason Bourne character again, but if Renner's character is set-up, or loses his memory...Ill be very disappointed.
-
a neck choppingly good team. somebody hurry up and call spielberg! @9laughs.com/things-to-do-now-that-the-super-bowl-is-over/
-
That would be cool if Damon returned in the next one.
-
So you like action scenes, (like the ones provided by Greengrass) that have no coherent, logical pacing or involvement? And no it doen't place u in the middle of the action. How dumb.
-
Feb. 9, 2012, 9:49 a.m. CST
Renner is fine, he at least looks like a strong male figure...
by ZodNotGod
Unlike Damon. Since this is Damon-less and the trailer looks steady, will check it out.
-
Might bother to pirate it....but probably not.
-
The shot of her looked like it was from one of the other Bourne movies. The old creepy doctor from the last Bourne talking to jeremy re-bourne (sorry couldn't help it) appears to be directly addressing him, but it didn't look like Allen or Straitharn clips had them interacting with him, so my first thought is that it was just a quick nod by marketing to remind people where the series had been.
-
Man if you're gonna bash someone for their personal preference (which is insane - I don't understand how people don't like cheeseburgers but I don't bash them for it) you may as well be more coherent about it. First you say "NO ONE" likes shaky-cam action scenes, then you bash him for liking them. By acknowledging the existence of one person who like shaky-cam action (and for the record, there are definitely more than one. Personal preference, remember?) you immediately suggest there is SOME one who likes shaky-cam. Poorly played. If/when you have kids, what are you going to say to them when they end up not liking your favorite food or styles of cinematography? "You fucking idiots, NOBODY likes that shit. what are you stupid?" Hopefully you'll learn by then there is a difference between opinion/preference and fact.

Yeah, I didn't notice any shaky cam in this trailer either.
by Orbots Commander
Not sure what people are seeing. What there is, is plenty of fast cutting and tight, close framing. Which is different, sort of like what Nolan did with Batman Begins. Nolan never used shaky cam; he just never pulled the camera back in a wide shot, which looks to be the same here.
-
Batman Begins never used shaky cam. Chris Nolan zoomed right in and framed very close shots, almost close ups of bodies hurling, limbs and fists punching and kicking, that gave an impression of claustrophobic closeness in the midst of a fight. Now, Paul Greengrass used *plenty* of shaky cam in both the 2nd and 3rd Bourne movies, because he comes from a documentary background, and emulated the cinema verite aspect, as if the audience were following Jason Bourne and witnessed the fights with him, looking over his shoulder.
-
Cool looking gun but there's no way it would hold zero after being taken apart and reassembled.
