UPDATED! Will There Be Any Room In Noah's Ark For A Couple Of Badasses?

Nordling here.

Darren Aronofsky is going full-on ahead with NOAH, and according to Deadline has two actors in mind already.  First, he'd like Russell Crowe to play Noah - I can only imagine Crowe feeding a bunch of animals in the ark while yelling "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?" - and he'd also like Liam Neeson to play a role as well.

Russell Crowe and Liam Neeson together... no wonder the dinosaurs didn't make it on the boat.  They couldn't handle the sheer badassery of these two onboard.  Granted, casting isn't set yet - these are names Aronofsky is throwing around that he wants in his film.

A few days ago, in the Oscar Poker chat, Jeffrey Wells was talking a bit about NOAH and that he talked to cinematographer Matthew Libatique and that "they haven't cast Noah yet. But it's got a guy in his 40s so it's not going to be young. It's going to be 40s. And there's a big villain part, gotta have a villain in the story of Noah.  Someone who's saying 'Listen, don't listen to him. We're fine! We don't need to build any ark. Don't be so alarmist! Don't be so fundamentalist.' You know? One of those guys. So it sounded like a lot of fun, actually."

So will Liam Neeson be this fundamentalist villain?  I could see him playing that part.  Neeson and Crowe, roaring against each other, now that would be worth seeing.

UPDATE: This isn't confirmed in any way shape or form, but there has been some discussion that Russell Crowe might also be in the running for Jose Padilha's ROBOCOP remake.  Yes, he might be playing good old Alex Murphy.  Again, can't confirm that in any way - it's just a rumor making the rounds.  So... Crowe as Noah, or as RoboCop... personally, I'd prefer him to play Noah and work with Aronofsky, but I can see him notifying rape crisis centers too.
