Matt Walsh's Improv Stoner Comedy HIGH ROAD Gets A Tightly-Rolled Trailer!

Published at:  Jan 31, 2012 2:58:15 PM CST

Beaks here...

I had no idea Upright Citizens Brigade co-founder Matt Walsh was making a star-studded improv comedy, but now that I know of its existence, I can't wait to see what kind of brain-scrambling absurdity he's captured. The cast of HIGH ROAD is impressive: Abby Elliott, James Pumphrey, Rob Riggle, Lizzy Caplan, Ed Helms, Horatio Sanz, Zach Woods, Dylan O'Brien, Andrew Daly, Jo Lo Truglio, Rich Fulcher... all formidable comedic talents. Put them together in a film, and I'm-a watch it.

The trailer looks promising, but the best improv comedy doesn't exactly lend itself to quick little excerpts, so don't judge this too harshly for looking kind of random. I like the energy here, and there are definitely laughs. I'll certainly check this out when it hits on March 6th.

    I'd rather just watch Workaholics

Those guys are actually funny. Unlike about half the people in this. Abby Elliott, for instance, is about as funny as cervical cancer.

    LOVE UCB

    by mjdeviant

Walsh was awesome as Dr. Orloff, the racist groundskeeper in Community and of course all his characters in UCB. I'll be checking this out.

I really want seasons 3 and 4 of UCB to be released already.

  • i thought Martin and Orloff was pretty good, as a first UCB spinoff movie it was a great first effort. Then they announced a 2nd movie with Amy Poheler and Matt Besser 'wild girls gone' using similar improv comedy techniques to their stage UCB show. Anyone know what ever happned to it?

I saw them promoting it on twitter a few months ago!

I'm excited to check it out! I'm a big UCB fan and I'm always glad when any of them get some success. I heard it's largely improvised and in the hands of a pro like Mr. Walsh I'm sure it will be amazing.

as star as dancing with the stars

Other than Ed Helms, none of those actors has ever starred as a lead in a movie. The movie is as star studded as any comedy that has any known actors in it.

    Badger's in this!?!?

    by bemorefunny

Matt 'Badger on Breaking Bad' Jones is in this?! Fucking inspired casting--why the FUCK wouldn't he be in every stoner comedy ever? I wish we could re-do all the Apatow movies with Matt Jones in them.

Little disappointed that Matt Jones didn't get a mention in the write up--he's a million times funnier than whoever this Rich Fulcher is.

For those wondering about Wild Girls Gone

    by pablumatic

You can buy it on iTunes. (or at least you could a year ago, I haven't looked recently)

    Warning: It sucks.

It was shot on what appears to be a home video camera with zero budget and the funny just isn't forthcoming in it.

I loved the UCB sketch comedy show on Comedy Central, but its a big step back.

I didn't like Martin & Orloff much either, but if you want your good memories of UCB to remain, I suggest steering clear of Wild Girls Gone.
