An Interesting Teaser For 7500!! Stuck On A Plane With...???

Published at:  Jan 31, 2012 10:38:02 AM CST

Merrick here...

ABOVE: IGN's teaser for 7500, a new suspense piece from  Takashi Shimizu - director of THE GRUDGE and its sequel.  This one stars Jamie Chung (SUCKER PUNCH), Leslie Bibb (the first two IRON MAN movies and ZOOKEEPER), Amy Smart (the CRANK movies and SCRUBS), and the extremely awesome Ryan Kwanten (so hilarious and touching as Jason Stackhouse in HBO's TRUE BLOOD). This should be in theaters late Summer - Augustish I believe.

I love the vibe here - but having recently seen George Miller's dazzling mini-epic NIGHTMARE AT 20, 000 feet (a segment of 1983's TWILIGHT ZONE movie), I have to wonder if anyone will ever equal or surpass that level of frenzied, claustrophobic, stuck-in-a-plane fucked-upness.  Maybe 7500 will do just that?  SNAKES ON A PLANE sure didn't...

Why the hate for the satire that was Snakes on a Plane?

    by irishraidersfan

Was it a masterpiece? Hell, no - it reminded me of those fun, shlocky 80s movies like House, but completely taking the piss.

Then again, US audiences don't seem to get that kind of humour...

    by rawsleestak

This had to be the cheapest trailer in the world to make, 50% of it is black. How much longer are the people cutting trailers these days gonna think this overused movie trailer cutting style is cool or clever or new or that people aren't becoming very aware that it's used in almost every trailer now and screams "I couldn't think of anything better so I cut it like everyone else does"?

    by killdeer1

A ghost on a plane? What the fuck's the point in that? And then just to scare and fuck with the passengers? If this was a typical Japanese "vengeful spirit", why wouldn't it just blast out the gasoline tank once it was over open water and couldn't get back and have everyone just go down screaming and die? This is some stupid shit.

Zombies (Flight of the Living Dead) on a Plane WASN'T Fun.

    by killdeer1

I watched it for free on either Chiller network of SyFy a couple months ago. The makeup and direction were "OK", but the CGI effects were shitty and the script was repetitive and tiresome. I fucking hated it--and this is someone who watched it for FREE.

I think whoever was supposed to edit the trailer together overslept and just through that shit together. What a total crapfest. No interest. Oh, and I work for an airline, electronics don't take down aircraft but they do fuck up the navigation systems, COMPLETELY TRUE.

That OTHER Shatner horror on a plane film...

    by solitaire

Anybody else ever see Horror at 37,000 feet? It was a tv movie with charles Napier as the captian and Shatner as a cowardly drunk. It was about a flight from england back to the states, and some gamook thinks it will be smart to ship a haunted druid alter home in the cargo hold. Hauntings and hijinks ensue, including an attempted exorcisim, a hooded figure and a frozen dog. It scared the shit out of me as a kid. I'd say this has more than a little bit owed to that film.

    Y A W N !

    by sluggolicious

'Interesting?' Really?! Invisible threat throws people around a plane somehow magically passes for 'horror.' If they'd had a budget that didn't require cheating around the fact there's no 'creature' and the passengers were trapped with a guy/girl who transformed into a say . . a werewolf? . . then it might've actually been interesting.

  • I've always wanted to see that one done again, even though the original Twilight Zone one and the one from the TZ movie were both great.

I think it could work as a nice brisk 90 minute suspense/horror flick. Maybe build up to the gremlin on the wing a bit longer due to having more time to play with the pacing.

    by smackfu

my favorite recent horror film is Grave Encounters. It's a found footage deal about a 'ghost hunters' type tv show that runs into the real thing. I became jaded to horror films a loooong time ago, and this was the first one in a long time that actually gave me the heebie jeebies. It's cheesy and unoriginal, but it did the trick.

If it's terror on an airplane, I'm buying a ticket. Snakes, zombies, freaking demons, you name it......I'll watch it.

I know, I know, but I can't help it.....horrible things happening at 30,000 feet is deliciously appealing to me......even if it's just Jodie Foster losing her kid on a flight.
