Bueller?
Bad news for everyone hoping Honda had hired Matthew Broderick to reprise his iconic Mr. Fitzhugh role from Brett Ratner’s “Tower Heist”!
Did the Japanese auto giant pony up also for Alan Ruck, Mia Sara and Jeffrey Jones?
Life moves pretty fast.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Mathew Broderick go into a bar.
by Tikidonkeypunch
He orders beer and she gets her cosmo. After several drinks she passes out on the floor. Matt gets up and pays and heads to the exit. The bartender says "Hey you can't leave that lyin there." Matt turns and says "That's not a lion, it's a horse."
-
Watch Ed Wood and actually hear SJP say that a critic tells her she looks like a horse! Hilarious!!! And a great movie.
-
but i'm afraid they'd completely fuck it up. A pity. Sod it, i'm going to watch the original again!

is an incredibly poor representation of how good that movie is. If I saw that trailer before I saw the movie I would balk and wait for VHS.

now films are distributed to british and irish cinemas under the heading UK and Ireland... most blockbusters at that time would open in UK and northern ireland. it would take the republic much longer to get films... ireland was still in economic war with the uk. but that ended in 1979..... looking back dev's economic war with the uk was stupid.... the reasons are too complex. to go into here... dev was a nationalistic as the rest of the leaders at that time.
-
What is this for? A middle aged Ferris Bueller TV series? A parody or some promo for something using Bueller?
-
Now get Charlie Sheen in there as Jeanie's husband! Thank God no Brian Cox jokes here...
-
Ferris Bueller's Day off was playing on TV a few years ago, and I remember seeing an advertisement for it exclaiming "starring Charley Sheen!". It took me a minute to remember that he was even in the movie!

I remember the Ferris Bueller TV series...it was AWFUL!!
by BoyNamedSue
It came on immediately after Fresh Prince of Bel Air, at least for the three months it lasted. Clips of the show are on YouTube.
-
If a Bueller sequel would be announced; everyone would scream "how dare they mess with a classic?" But since its not real; people are bitching "how come it's not a real sequel? We want a sequel" Whiny bitches. Fact
-
It's statements like that which make me hate the majority of AICN talkbackers with a passion. You hit the nail on the head.
-
Ferris was specifically representative of an idealized self confidence. To show him now as a paunchy old dude...doesn't really work. Thankfully it's just a commercial and not a sequel.
-
The obnoxious douchebag becomes a hapless cube monkey. And Cameron becomes Lumbergh.

this may have been mentioned in the talkbacks already but...
by SaunDann
there is already a Ferris 2 script that's been floating around for the past 5 years or so. It has Ferris as a 40 something motivational speaker who of course takes the day off with his buddy Cameron... I think there was an effort to get it off the ground but Hughes refused and now of course he's no longer with us. Would love to read the script if I could find it.

I'm down with posting a few times to get it into the top 10. BTW, I can't blame Harry for choosing the wrong format. They were similar in quality, I think the reason that one was chosen over the other was mostly because of corporate choices.
-
a Sixteen Candles sequel a few years back but it never got made.
-
it was spectactularly awful. It came out at the same time as Parker Lewis Can't Lose (which was better executed).... Still I watched a few episodes because I loved the film so much. I bet John Hughes hated that show as much as George Lucas hates the Holiday Special.
-
I know they are for Episode 1, but they are fun and inspired.

The irony about Ferris Bueller is that the movie isn't really about him.
by Ingeld
It is really Cameron's story told through Bueller. It's his coming of age story. With Bueller and Cameron, Hughs has placed our adolescent fantasies along side our adolescent realities. We are amused by Bueller, but we don't actually have to care about him; he will always land on his feet. It is Cameron we actually care about.
-
I'm glad it is not the reboot they were planning a couple years back and is instead exactly the sequel we always expected, Ferris ditching work as an adult! I hope Mia Sara is in this!
-
...its a fucking Honda ad, not a real movie! Fuck you Honda and your shit cars!

the movie you are talking about wasnt made. Sorry. I understand what you are getting at, but you are wrong. What you should be trying to say is that Cameron had a nice character arc where he changed from the beginning of the movie to become someone else at the end, and you are used to hollywood making movies about THAT guy, instead of the guy who doesnt change from beginning to end. but the fact is, thats what Hughes did. Made a movie about the cool kid. sure we watched cameron transform, but this was never his movie. we never got to see him interact with his dad, Ferris left him to go on and do more amazing cool shit. In our PC time, the movie would indeed be about the Cameron neurotic kid while the far more interesting kid just plays the comic relief. american pie, take me home tonight, etc etc. NOW, one can certainly argue that Hughes saw himself in Cameron and paid attention to his arc, but....we watch Ferris for Ferris, like we watch Superman for Superman.

We all like to picture ourself like ferris bueller, the truth:
by AshMcQ
We are all more like Cameron.
-
Ferris Bueller is a fucking douchebag. I never got the reverence for John Hughes movies (except for Vacation). They're all white assholes' problems. Even Vacation was white assholes' problems but at least it was funny.
-
i mean yea on the surface its some so called "rich white people problems" but its so much more than that shit. what son doesnt have father issues? what kids dont know who they really are, and are searching for it thru interaction with their peers? Hughes asked universal questions that my black ass was able to follow along with very easily. Maybe because Im also middle class I related more (ironically probably more than most white americans could relate) but even then, I think once you realize all problems are relative, you can really appreciate the struggles. Hughes took us somewhere we havent been since in a kids film.
-
and somehow got pieces of Cameron added on as I got older. Sometime, for the sake of the poster Ingeld, you all should watch Ferris kinda like Fight Club. Its hard, but imagine that Ferris is all in Cameron's mind, and HE is the one actually portaying Ferris, but for him he sees Ferris as a real person doing those things, and for us, we see what he manifests. But in actuality, its just this fucked up crazy kid living in his own dream world being the kid he wants to be. Just cut out all the scenes of Ferris at home or with his sister or with rooney and just focus on Cameron & Ferris etc. LOL Sloane is some whore that knows Cameron is crazy but doesnt give a shit. She fucks with him cuz his daddy is rich and she gets money to support her coke habit. Most of you guys would probably like THAT movie alot more.
-
What ingeld was getting at is that Cameron is the heart of the film. Sure, the movie's title would lead us to think differently...but, underneath it all, the hero of the movie was Cameron. We all wish that we were Ferris...But in the end, we either end up Cameron...or we end up not growing at all...Just another loser who frequents the AICN talkbacks, nitpicking every movie thinking that we can do better.
-
Hmmm... not sure about that script and the setup. Buelhller as a motivational speaker makes sense.... The idea that Cameron hasn't changed at all and fulfilled the prediction made by Ferris undercuts the point of FBDO... The events of that Day Off were for Cameron's benefit and changed him. I'd like to read more but so far I'm not too impressed with the script.
-
Ferris is certainly the focus of the film and is it's hero, but you can't deny that the entire purpose of the day off is to save his friend Cameron. While the events of the movie seem random and off the cuff, there's this exchange towards the end; Sloan: Will Cameron be okay? Ferris: Yeah, sure, for the first time in his life, He's going to be just fine. Sloan: You knew what you were doing when you woke up this morning Ferris: Me? No
-
The kids in the film were everything I hated about 80's preppy teens. Broderick is uninteresting, Mia Sara isn't that hot, and Alan Ruck's a pencil-necked dork... I hated him in "Star Trek: Generations" and "Speed."
-
That would not work, sorry. Bueller needs something to rebel against. How is he going to get in trouble if he skips a day as a self employed speaker? I'm not opposed to a sequel, but it would have to be done as an homage to Hughes, with his spirit and style replicated.
-
... even if it's just for a Super Bowl commercial. No underwhelming, disappointing movie, just one really good trailer. If Lucas had stopped at that magnificent first trailer in the fall of '98, he'd still be a beloved figure today.
-
While motivational speaker makes sense as a possible career path for Ferris... it doesn't provide any tension.
-
They're the sort of people that back when corporations had money, would send people to listen to speeches on how to be a better corporate drone. I don't see his character doing that.
-
He said straight up that it was Cameron's movie. Thats wrong. You say Cameron is the "heart" of the film. That can be argued. But the HERO of the film? LOL Hell no. Ferris is the hero. We watch HIS journey, and we never stay with Cameron. Cameron is just another puzzle that Ferris found a way to solve. and saundann, sure you can argue that part of the reason to take a day off is to show his uptight friend a good time - but again, we are never focused on the uptight friend. He has a single blow up where he finally takes a faux stand against his dad. Will his dad beat him up? Will he be okay? Doesnt matter. We have got to get Ferris home! To say Ferris is about Cameron is like saying Back to the Future is about George McFly. These characters are partially mcguffins, catalysts for action, but not the main star! We arent watching FOR them, we are watching to see the star solve their problems! I mean look, if you guys personally identify with Cameron, thats great, but stop trying to give his character more shine than he deserves. Its not in the script or in the film edit we see on the screen. Its clearly a movie about Ferris. ps and if ANYONE is a hero, wouoldnt it be Jeanie? She is the only one who LITERALLY saves Ferris. But of course you dont think about that. You guys have to really stop inserting yourselves into these movies.

Twister. Number one is Star Trek of course

If you don't like "white asshole problems", go watch the oh so awesome "black people problem" content driven garbage out there, like Soul Plane...

taking offense by showing offense. real mature.

I mean, fuck! It shows the fate of the car. It shows the parade. It was actually a pretty good trailer until it ruined every surprise.

Come on over and enjoy the fun!

That is cold. He deserves it, but still... cold.
-
You lost any credibility at "Mia Sara isn't that hot".

And while you're at it, why don't you jerk off that high-horse you're sitting on, I'm sure it would appreciate it.
