Even As A Statue, Hathaway's Catwoman Looks Hot...
Merrick here...
Earlier this week an image of upcoming DARK KNIGHT RISES statues were making the rounds. 'Twas interesting, but not particularly clear.
The gang over at SuperheroHype got ahold of a higher resolution version of the same promo material, revealing the nuance of the characters and their rather impressive statues much more clearly.
Presented herein is a smaller variant - punch Bane in the nuts to jump to SHH's higher-res version!

When I first saw it on another site.
-
So we're getting Bane, Catwoman, Ra's Al Ghul, plus all of the bland, forgettable gangsters that Nolan adds for a dose of "reality.
-
-Namaste-
-
The male characters get manly, heroic poses while the female gets to be on her knees with her exaggerated ass sticking out. So awesome.
-
for some reason, with every new movie, it gets closer to closer to the Joel Schumacher Batman and Robin suit.
-
Will sell at least 100 tickets.
-
Only porn stars and stripper have asses like that.
-
like American Maid from The Tick?

Because Catwoman's always been such a villain, and Ra's Al Ghul's totally confirmed
by Sardonic
WAY too many villains. I mean that's like, what, one confirmed villain??? And don't forget Talia Al-Ghul as well? God, so many villains.
-
she just too gangly and freaky lookin.
-
You're a rotten S.O.B. ya know that?
-
Perhaps Bane should've been kneeling with his ass out. I'd buy that statue!

Bane's outfit and mask are awful.I am sure Hardy will give us an excellent
by KilliK
performance of his character, badass and all that, but i dont i really dont like what Nolan has done with his outfit and mask.I am not saying that i want to be like in the comics,it just i dont like Nolan's take. The outfit is so general militaristic,it looks like he is a paratrooper who walks around without his parachute. And the green mask with the green outfit makes him look like the Batman villain Crock wearing a muzzle. and he doesnt look very intimidating and imposing.Batman behind him, even as a miniature,he looks more intimating than Bane. I really think that Nolan has made a big fuck up with Bane's look but i am sure Hardy will save the character with his performance.
-
Are you as stupid as your questions?
-
You want that cheesy mask and venom from the comics? Already tried that in "Batman & Robin"!
-
Jan. 27, 2012, 12:33 p.m. CST
Bane's costume works. It's not comics "Bane" but it still works
by Smartacus
I think if his performance carries the part as opposed to his suit and mask being picture-perfect then that's a good problem to have.
-
They might as well just call her Woman.
-
The cowl and the goggles make her look more iconic.
-
but that is TOTALLY what this outfit and hair are homage to...no question. it seems so out of place, when Nolan has basically reinvented each character to his vision, and then just kind of tagged on hathaway in a newmar-esque suit. too bad really, when there are so many new cool takes on catwoman out there to work from.
-

i wonder if that Bane mask leaves a scar on the wearer.
by zom-bot.com
y'know, like a big mouth scar....
-
The threads that Bane has look sort of practical, but i am itching to know if we see Bane pumped up like a "juicer"/roid-beast. What is the macguffin for the Venom in the movie?
-
kind of like how Ra's, Scarecrow and Carmine Falcone, and the League of Shadows ruined Batman Begins. And kind of like how Joker and Two-Face ruined Batman Returns. How about you just wait to see the movie?
-
If there ever was a person that I could reach through the internets and smash their balls to nothing (assuming you're a man)...it would be you.
-
I'm so juvenile.
-
He obviously went with the Cesar Romero look for the joker in The dark Knight...
-

Maybe they ditched the cowl to distance her from the Halle Berry Catwoman
by Chuck_Chuckwalla
Ugh. Another reason to hate that movie.
-
I didn't realize The Joker and Two-Face were in "Batman Returns". We must be watching two different versions of the Batman Begins sequel!
-
Not snark. I like Croc Master. Looking forward to it just like every other person everywhere.
-
Talk about stacking the deck in your favor. How can they be sure it'll be a blockbuster when it hasn't even busted a block? It could turn out to be a disaster on par with Super Mario Bros or Gigli, regardless of how good the previous films were. But I guess they can't say "based on the upcoming okay film."
-
No tits, granted, but still awful. I guess Nolan has a free pass for everything, eh?
-
I hope that suit has a zip-crotch.
-
Or anything BUT Catwoman
-
He's a little guy with shot man's syndrome. He has to wear that mask because of his severe asthma. He's angry at always being picked last so he blows up a football stadium. Then he punches Batman in the face because he wants to prove that he's bigger and tougher than the biggest, toughest guy in all of Gotham! Eventually Batman defeats him by holding him at arms length so Bane's flailing little arms can't reach. Hathaway stars as the woman who rejected Bane on Plenty of Fish because he was clearly much shorter in his photo than the claimed 6'8" on his profile.
-
I see Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and I feel nothing! The outfit is a piece of crap, though I wonder whether she even wears it beyond one or two scenes. Bane could turn out to be the biggest joke since...Bane in Batman & Robin!!
-
Jan. 27, 2012, 1:04 p.m. CST
This catwoman design is Nolan's first total FAIL on these films. Arkham City kitty OWNS whatever the hell Hathaway is wearing in DKR. Bummer
by the Green Gargantua
-
Don't exactly get why everyone just buys into Ra's coming back. Those scenes he filmed... Flash backs? Nolan won't do the pit or any other science fiction themed element so how exactly would Ra's escape a train crashing and exploding? No it's Bane, Catwoman(who becomes a good guy or girl whatever you want to say) and Talia. That's not bad. I'm even sure Scarecrow will pop up again and that's not even that bad. Also I like what they did with Bane. I won't get that statue since it looks like he's asking for a hug but I'll pick something up of his sometime.

Were they purposely trying for "goatse" with Bane's mask?
by django_il_bastardo
I mean come on...!
-
Bane, Ra's and Talia are ALL League of Shadows. That's one collective villain all working towards the same thing. Catwoman will be a semi-villain. Selfish, but comes through in the end. =1.5 villains total.
-
apparently the mask is an inhaler. Bane suffered horrific injuries and the gas helps to ease the constant pain. Therefore, Nolan is keeping stylistically true to the comics, while also twisting the character to make it believable. A guy in a Mexican mask gaining 100kgs of muscle would look stupid in Nolan's Gotham.
-
So three villains are the exact same? That means that they are boring mate. You should rethink your argument.
-
You wouldn't do Holmes? You're either gay or a hater. You choose.

-
FUCK !!!
-
Yeah, 1.5 villains. League of Shadows is one big fuck off enemy. One man against an army is far from boring.
-
Can't decide if she's pretty or not tho.
-
You know that catwoman statue is gonna get licked often.
-
She has a different look is all. Overall a very attractive woman.
-
Even as a statue Bane looks small....
-
You are actually discussing the "hotness" of plastic dolls.
-
First of all,3 villains working together are not an army. They are a team. And that is not a proble if those villains are unique characters with their own personality traits and personal motives. But they arent since they are carbon copy of each other as you say. Secondly i thought TDKR is supposed to be a mature, serious, intelligent movie for adults? if i wanted to see a cheesy action movie where a man faces a whole army, then i would prefer to watch again the definitive masterpiece of that category,Commando. As i said, your argument lacks.try again.

@mistermanreturns the brain is using abstraction aka abstract thinking.

Which means when you are seeing a collectable toy, painting, photography, statue, video or animation of a hot Hathaway in a sexy position wearing a catsuit, then your are actually thinking of the real Hathway in a sexy position wearing a catsuit. So nope, there is nothing creepy to that.

but it is certainly kind of weird to have an article designed to get fanboys juices flowing over a statue'es ass. Wait a minute, what the fuck am I saying, fanboys can't get the real thing, so this will do.... makes sense...
-

Yes Hathaway is plenty attractive, but Catwoman should have a very pretty face --
by MooseMalloy
-- like Pfeiffer for example, or as she is usually drawn in the comics, etc. It's a given that whatever actress was chosen would have a nice body, so picking the right face should have been more important. Also the costume really stands out in Nolan's lil' world doesn't it?
-
Team? The League of Shadows is a huge army of trained warriors. Bane will be the front man, out in public causing mayhem. Talia will be in the shadows, manipulating events and possibly creating a romance - faux or otherwise. Ra's is only a rumour. It will be one man rising and inspiring others to rise against the army as we've seen in the trailers. TDKR will be a mature movie, but it won't just be for adults.

Either way, he sounds like a complete cunt!

-
Instead of molded nipples on the bat-suit, we get pieces of body armor shaped like pecs and individual ab muscles. Not just that, but *stylized* ab muscles. Instead of Mr. Freeze, we get a Village People version of The Humungus (dressed as a sanitation worker or paratrooper, your choice), with a voice like John Hurt talking on a CB radio. And instead of a BDSM latex Catwoman, we get a stripper/porn-star Catwoman in thigh-high boots and stiletto heels. Welcome to the brooding, realistic, evolved world of Nolan's Batman. He's making some kind of brooding point about society, really.
-
Really, the design and costume of Catwoman from the game Batman Arkham City is puuurrrrffffeeeeeccccctttttttt...... If you know what I mean.
-
remember these movies are a progression. It makes sense that Batman's costume would get more complex as the series goes on. Remember how they talk about escalation at the end of Batman Begins? This is 8 years after TDK so it's not too crazy to think that Batman has refined his suit.

by lv_426
She's got a WONDERFUL ASS!!!!!! Quack, quack, quack (you know how The Penguin does that quacky thing in the old 1960's Adam West Batman show). Remember, Nolan did say that Heat was an inspiration for the gritty crime drama style of The Dark Knight.

Perhaps Mr. Nolan isn't quite as enmashed in his feminine side as he is in the other facets and definition of success. Sure like some dude will be like, oh yeah he's a genius and colossally successful and is the greatest director and human being ever since the entire universe was created, but then you're like woah hold up, but most of his flicks contain spousal death, or the wife is already deceased. And then you're like well look at his "Batman" franchise, Gotham City is a man's land, about fathers and sons, like Gordon and his son. Mothers have no place in Nolan's gritty dark world.. Bruce's mother is faded almost completely into the background, with no dialogue or interaction with her son. Yet, the concept of woman as being the motivation for everything happening is flung around willy nilly, and not really examined. What a fascinating, complex, dark, intelligent, and deep director he is, that person might say. Whatever.
-
Can't believe I had to say it.
-
Surprised Catwoman is wearing such impratical heels for a Nolan movie, but what the hell - she looks fucking hot - anyone complaining about her outfit is automatically gay (not that there's anything wrong with that)
-
There I said it... her features are good individually, but when you put it all together.. they look odd. Giant googly eyes, a big mouth, too much gum and too much teeth when she smiles... I don't see what's so special about.
-
=Team? The League of Shadows is a huge army of trained warriors.= We are talking about the main villains that Batman faces in the movie, not about the generic cannon fodder thugs that batman fights and defeats in 10s.I thought that was pretty clear from the start. =Bane will be the front man, out in public causing mayhem. Talia will be in the shadows, manipulating events and possibly creating a romance - faux or otherwise. Ra's is only a rumour.= I dont know how Nolan will use all the main villains, probably he will do a fine job.I am just pointing out that sometimes over-saturating a movie with villains can cause a problem in its story.Spider-Man 3 is a good example of that. =It will be one man rising and inspiring others to rise against the army as we've seen in the trailers.= i agree but that has nothing to do with the subject of our discussion. =TDKR will be a mature movie, but it won't just be for adults. = Βatman movies never were for adults, not even TDK.

TDKR will have to succeed on its own merits because no cast members have died yet.
by jawsfan
You gotta admit -- Ledger's death boosted box office and made a LOT of people praise the entire movie based on one performance. The rest of us saw TDK for the flawed film it is, even if we enjoyed it a little here and there. TDKR will showcase Nolan's shortcomings in a clearer light than TDK did. FACT.
-
...it is done.
-
Jan. 28, 2012, 1:15 p.m. CST
@jawsfan i speculate that TDKR will gross at least 200m less than TDK did.
by KilliK
The movie will become a huge hit, maybe the biggest blockbuster of this summer but it wont achieve the same commercial and popularity impact that TDK caused. But i do think that it will be the best movie of the trilogy, even better than the much flawed TDK.The irony is that without Ledger, the fanboys will be divided to those who will praise it as the better movie than TDK and those as the worse.
-
He was the main villain in a movie that depends on its villains. So if a lesser actor had played the Joker, the film wouldn't have worked. You're a genius.
-
has to have a pic of the 1 second Bra & panties scene from Get Smart...surely. Hathaway's hot, but a cowl would have sealed the deal for 'the look'. Don't flame me but Katy Perry would've been ok in the Catwoman role too...

my only favorite scene in the whole awful movie.
-
I’ve been reading that nonsense for years and it doesn’t really hold up to intelligent scrutiny. Ledger’s role was already generating huge buzz even before his unfortunate and untimely passing and in actuality WB toned down their Joker-centric advertising after he died fearing it would be seen as being in poor taste. To be certain there was a heightened awareness after he died but the kind of money TDK pulled in cannot be generated on the curiosity factor alone. There have been plenty of actors who have died and yet their swan song performances failed to generate a significant boost in box office revenue so claiming that TDK was buoyed by Ledger’s passing is disingenuous. As to TDKR revenue, I have no idea if it will surpass or even meet the record of TDK but one thing people fail to realize is that Nolan is now a marquee director meaning that even casual filmgoers know his name and flock to his work. I’d say the film is probably a lock at 400m but if the buzz is equal to that of TDK it could go higher.
-
It is not bullshit.Check the top 10 movies grosses and you will clearly see that the TDK domestic grosses are an anomaly compared to both the domestic and worldwide grosses of the rest of the movies. The simplest and most obvious way to explain this anomaly is Ledger's death and the over-excessive media coverage in the USA, which followed it for a month until the movie's premiere. T

examples? give me specific examples of popular actors who died ONE month before the premiere of their big-studio,big-budget,blockbuster EVENT movie ,that their death for that remaining month was one of the hottest topics of the biggest news/gossip sites/media and that all this situation didnt affect AT ALL the final BO grosses of the movie. i am waiting.

by JackSlater4
-
How popular were they? Were their latest movie when they died a big-studio,big-budget,blockbuster EVENT movie? how much was their death talked for the remaining months until the premiere of their last movie? How exactly the grosses were not affected at all? come on,elaborate please.
-

Bruce became an american star after the premiere of the Enter the Dragon.
by KilliK
Did his death help the usa grosses of the film? i dont know, probably not since he was an unknown in the average american audience at that time. Did his death increased the asian grosses of the film? judging by the chinese outcry and the Bruceploitation which followed his death,i bet it did. So your Bruce Lee example rather supports my opinion on this matter.

-
Bernie Mac’s death was high profile, as was the death of Chris Farley and John Candy. Even if you don’t consider their respective final films blockbuster material the fact remains that celebrity deaths don’t tend to have any measureable effect on the revenue of a film. Even if there is a curiosity factor that compels a swell in attendance initially such an effect wouldn’t generate the type of repeat viewings necessary for a film like TDK to gross in excess of 500 million at the domestic box office, especially considering that Ledger at the time was still considered to be a B-List celebrity. Those who perpetuate this straw man argument keep insisting that it was Ledger’s death, rather than his performance and the quality of the film, which not only got people into theaters but kept them coming back. Even if you subscribe to the theory that people went to see TDK initially because of Ledger, that wouldn’t explain the film’s incredibly steady run for the duration of the summer because the only way to generate that type of revenue is for people to see it multiple times. The death argument is utter bullshit with not an iota of evidence to support it.

by hank henshaw
Even that fool Jack Nicholson came out to say he had "warned" Ledger about the Joker. What a bunch of nonsense. A lot of people checked TDK out of curiosity towards this "messed up", "super-dark" version of the Joker that got an actor tormented into OD'ing himself out. Can't compare that to Bernie Mac or John Candy.

Gee, when did Catwoman NOT wear high heels? Like, ever in anything?

Find me a Catwoman drawing in a single comic book where her outfit doesn't incorporate high heels and you win 10,000 internets. Sheesh, people. It's Catwoman. She wears high heels. It's officially a thing.

You're a worthless, retarded, shit pile. As in, a pile a shit that holds no value to anyone, who is also severely lacking in mental acuity and capacity.

And Ann Hathaway is still average looking.

That's all. I won't respond to you again, so have at it.

I remember a lot of talk about how he was taking medication because he found it hard to leave the character at the office, so to speak. But not that he purposefully took his own life because of it.

As far as I can tell (I only scanned a few issues real quick throughout each series) Catwoman didn't wear heels in the entire V2, 94 issue run, the entire V3, 83, nor does she wear them in the currently running V4. In all three she wears flat bottomed boots or a combat looking boot with a big fat man looking heel, like Batman. So, basically, it's not "a thing" at all. Sorry.
Thank you for the 10,000 internets, I needed them.

I'm quite sad that tallboy6t6 will not get the chance to publicly acknowledge my internets winnings
