That Invasion from Space Nazis movie, IRON SKY, it is finished AND it is premiering in BERLIN on Feb 11th!
Hey folks, Harry here... I can't believe that IRON SKY is complete. I've been hearing and seeing things from this "alleged movie" for eons now it seems. I love their pre-production trailers and graphics, but I just kind of refused to believe that this would ever be finished. Well, it has! Moon Nazis are an official reality! A swastika shaped moonbase exists... and it is gonna get all Emmerich up on our asses!
If you happen to be attending the Berlin International Film Festival shortly and you see this - please send in your thoughts. Oh - and for those of you that follow Yoko, she's quivering in anticipation, since seeing "GLASSING" is in the trailer! Here's the latest:

that's all

It should have originally been one of the fake trailers in Grindhouse, for sure; the premise alone could carry this one out but it sorta looks a bit too much like Sky Captain to feel thoroughly optimistic about it. It does look real fun, however.
-
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Kerry Conran deserves a second chance. 'Sky Captain' was by no means a great movie, it's certainly flawed, but c'mon, you can't tell me that movies like this, 'Sin City', '300', etc don't owe a debt to the pioneering work of Kerry Conran.

I've got the comic books, am following the production, and really want to see this flick. Not enough to suffer Germany in the winter, but it needs to come to Austin.

i thought germany didn't allow the swastika used in movies there?
by zom-bot.com
is that just a myth?

MOTHER FUCKING SPACE NAZIS!!! I love it! I pray this doesn't suck, the Mule wants to see it BAD
-

This will suck because its a comedy. They should have made it a serious scifi blowout...and it premiers in the Fatherland, COME ON

@zombot: thats what I thought. I guess since this is poking fun at nazi's its okay?
by gk1
I can't wait to see how THIS goes over with the masses.

He'll take off like a V3.

GK1...agreed. A Comedy...fuck. It could have been great sci-fi
by conspiracy
Nazi's, isolated on the moon for 70 year, watching the earth, watching the technological and cultural developments, integrating these observations into their own technological and ideological developments ...it could/would have been WILD sci-fi. Missed opportunity.
-
I remember seeing the bizarre teaser... what, 10 years ago? ...and thinking shit, what a brilliant idea. So glad people outside the hollywood shit-mill are still making films! this may be good, may be bad, but at least it's an exciting, funny, original concept! NOT A FUCKING REMAKE
-
Wow, I've never been so dumbfounded by a trailer before. Spaceballs on PCP? I don't know. I felt like I just saw a preview for a movie from an alternate universe. Space Nazi's sounds funny, like, "Mr.Show-type sketch comedy" funny. But not "spend a fuck load of money to make a huge movie about it" funny.
-
Of course he does!

I forgot about this! I remember the teaser from like 10 million years ago!

any way you can convince these guys to come to AUSTIN?????? I have been following development on this for YEARS!!
-
...I hate those guys.
-
lest we have a holocaust in space!
-
But then satire is lost on American audiences, generally.
-
That can't be a real trailer....it's got to be fake, right?
-
HAHAHAH, c´mon dudes, it´s nazis on the moon. There´s no way you could handle that material if not as a comedy of some sorts. I know Kubrick turned Dr. Strangelove into a dark comedy, but well, he was KUBRICK.

I love those STAR WRECK guys, they are really good. Will it have subtitles like Star Wreck or will it be dubbed?
-
until i saw it was a comedy. Also there is a horrible stench of steam-punk about the whole thing.
-
Finally itz herez :)
-
Germany allows them in movies, but in comic books and video games, they are constantly obliterated or edited out. (Although I don't know if this done by law or just a precautionary measure from the respective companies. )
-
I remember that there was an Indiana Jones games being developed as a follow up to the Atlantis one and it ended up being canned because of the theme and story. It was called Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix - I read the comic book of it years ago but can't remember what it was about. It was canned though because Germany was such a big market for video games and this would never sell due to legislation against making children's entertainment have Nazi symbols etc - or something. Anyway, this looks like it might be cool for about twenty five minutes but then start getting a bit dull - I might be wrong and I love the idea and even the Sky Captain meets Mars Attacks feel looks cool. I just think that it's going to be difficult to sustain a good story.
-
I was all in, every bit of material I'd seen before this trailer made me feel like this would be something special. Now, after seeing THIS trailer, I feel like it's something special ed. That director is a fucking douche, and the movie seems infinitely more schlock than I ever expected. Disappointed that after really rooting for this thing for what feels like a few years now, any enthusiasm has been suddenly deflated by what looks to be the Tom Six equivalent to comedy sci-fi.
-
I don't actually know what German law says about those things, but what I do know is that a lot of PC game companies often make sanitized versions of their games (no swastikas, green blood instead of red, etc.) for the German market, and then immediately after releasing them post patches on their sites which restore the games to their original state, thus enabling German gamers to enjoy the games as they were meant to be seen.
-
Fuck yeah! Star Wreck was great. I was one of the first people to buy the original DVD when they advertised it on their site (before it found a big distributor) and will support this as well. Let's be honest: people who are offended by this are stupid. Suomi FTW!
-
Was banned in Germany in the early 90s.
-
We get this, but no SKY CAPTAIN Sequel???? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
...with motherfucking space nazis. In fact, I reckon motherfucking space nazis would be better with even more motherfucking space nazis sprinkled on top.
-
...Aren't they motherfucking MOON Nazis?
-
...with these muthafuckin nazis on this muthafuckin moon...
-
That Julia Dietze is a hot box o' rocks!

Would have worked better as a 70's porn movie a la Flesh Gordon, looks like it's trying to hard to be 'wacky & zany' which usually indicates it's a boring mess.

Sooooo.......It's Sky Captain 2, but with worse acting?
by Jaster Mareel
No thanks. Those live action scenes are fucking putrid. If they made the whole thing in CGI it would work better.
-
Gotta take the fight to them!
-
See what I did there?
-
I've been forced to come out of retirement for this. Something fun comes along and look at the shit on here. Bitching, whining, pathetic virginal fanboi cunts.
-
I'm skeptical of anything that has to "meme" itself and actually says "motherfucking space nazis" in its own promotional material. You're supposed to show us something that will make the internet citizens laugh and start screaming "motherfucking space nazis!!!" It just reeks of desperation when you do it yourself. Also, I love swearing, but it really does come off as unprofessional and sad when you do a voiceover with motherfucking in it. You aren't edgy. I'm still interested in the movie....but the promo is so desperate it makes me skeptical.

the computer joke is kind of funny- but poorly executed-
by zom-bot.com
-as i feel the rest of the movie is too. realllllllly cool premise done with too much look and not enough depth, and lots of missed opportunities. perhaps the best description is, it would have been a better first person shooter game than a movie.

anybody know what happened to that zombie nazi movie with the balloons?
by zom-bot.com
i'd seen clips, and the movie was in funding hell, but the premise seemed cool- at a predetermined time, operations automatically start up in a secret nazi lab, releasing undead nazi soldiers attached to small weather balloons, depositing them all over the place, as well as a scene of some coming out of the ocean. the effects looked pretty cool, better than dead snow and maybe better than this.

I'm tired of these motherfuckin Nazi's on this motherfuckin moon!!!

I did not know that - I did live in Germany for a year in a place called Freiburg and I was pretty impressed by the size of the War Film selection in most of the big shops compared to what it's like in the UK and I remember talking to one girl who had said that when she was being taught history at school it sort of amounted to Germany went through a period of massive growth in the thirties and then in the late forties there was a boom in the building industry. I think it's changing but I think that Germany needs to stop apologizing for something that happened over 50 years ago. And Britain needs to stop making so many fucking documentaries about Hitler. Anyway, that's from my limited perspective.

toward the end of the trailer?

@derlanhaarige, doc_pazuzu et al. re swastikas in film
by GreatWhiteNoise
Interesting little bit of education there; thanks for that. My initial reaction was that if the symbol was truly not allowed to be shown, then watching Raiders of the Lost Ark in Germany must have been a truly confusing experience indeed. Nice to have the details from our learned colleagues.
-
I hope that becomes a big slogan that is hilarious. I almost wish they made it look more serious to me that would be funnier.
-
I don't want to bother with the exact law deatails, but the political use of swastikas is forbidden here in Germany, generally speaking everything that glorifies the third reich. IMHO this issue is being handled quite reasonably and the swastika is allowed when it "serves to further civil enlightenment, to avert unconstitutional aims, to promote art or science, research or teaching, reporting about current historical events or similar purposes." (quotet from wikipedia article about the applying Strafgesetzbuch paragraph). Some examples: Of course swastikas are allowed and used in movies all the time. However there's probably huge loads of paperwork to be done before you can legally decorate a street with swastika flags to shoot the movie. Can't use it for advertisemt that easily. The "swastika-o" in german Inglorious Basterts posters, dvd-covers etc. has a bullet hole where the international ones have a swastika. Plastic model kits of german WW2 vehicles or airplanes come without swastika decals. It's not forbidden to import foreign kits though. When I built a Me 262 from a japanese kit as a kid I didn't put those decals on it. That's our built-in guilty conscience.
-
This movie looks hilarious, with overthetop nazi villians and fun sci fi. Can't wait.

Other than that, I got nuthin'.

by Arcadian Del Sol
That was terrible.

I'd watch another Sky Captain movie as long as they recast the lead. Visually it was a feast and I'm sure everyone is waiting to see what Conran does next. Remember, it was still relatively early days for complete green screen acting and it's an art that is sill being refined. What Kerry created withthe tools at his disposal was nothing short of a miracle. I was hoping he'd be the one to make a Supes movie, not the soulless Snyder.
