Wes Bentley up for the role of Lestat in QUEEN OF THE DAMNED

Published at:  Feb 22, 2000 11:32:26 PM CST

Hey folks, Harry here. Over at Hollywood Reporter they're talking about the negotiations a going on between Wes Bentley and the producers of QUEEN OF THE DAMNED. Which if memory serves is the third in Anne Rice's Vampire trilogy and has Lestat as a 'rock star' type that wakes up the title character. I don't think we'll have any arguement about the intensity lacking in Wes Bentley's eyes.. as they are high beam halogens in intensity... and there's a dangerous edge there. What this would mean though... possibly... would be that it could possibly take him out of contention (if he ever was in) for SPIDER-MAN. Personally, I've always pictured him as more of a young Bruce Wayne, than a Peter Parker... his eyes are too wild and scary for Parker methinks... So... It looks like we got some legitimate movement on this project which has seemed to have been languishing for quite some time. The deal isn't done yet... it's done to the greenbacks though...

    Dear oh fucking dear.....

    by splinter

Er....the Vampire Lestat anyone? You know, that little 700 page book that fits rather snugly BETWEEN Interview and Queen? What the fuck are these people playing at? Are they intending to sqeeze both books into one film? You see Harry, the 'rock-star' angle is dealt with in 'The Vampire Lestat'- Queen of The Damned begins, 50's sci-fi serial-like, right in the middle of the action - picking up from a cliffhanger at the end of 'Lestat.' Now, its no secret that the upper echelons of Hollywood are peopled by moronic, money-grabbing imbeciles,
idiots who bat aside creativity and innovation in the name of novelty burgers, but this is taking the fucking piss. You CANNOT, I repeat CANNOT do these two books justice in 2 hours. Neil Jordan delivered a flawed, but faithful adaptation of Interview....true to the feel and ethos of the books....I know I'm opening up a huge can of worms here guys - almost as gargantuan as the fucking industrial vat of worms that was opened when one Thomas Mapother III was cast as Lestat in Interview - but Bentley IS NOT LESTAT. Simple as that. I know I know, we all said the same thing about Cruise, but he pulled it off (in my humble opinion)...this kid is just not the man. Expect bitter and bile-soaked reaction from Rice if this is true...followed of course by a $100,000 spread in Variety detailing the fact that Bentley actually makes her moist and he's so perfect for the part..she would 'do it doggy' with him. Its a sad and crazy world we live in guys. Surrounded on all sides by cash whores and literary rapists.
For the love of God, DON'T make this film.
    Splinter out.

What the Hell is Warner Bros Thinking???

    by lestat1

OK, If you haven't figured it out by my username, I am a HUGE Anne Rice fan, and have been ever since I was 13 years old and read Interview with the Vampire for the first time. I waited for what seemed like forever to see a movie version of the Vampire Chronicles made, and despite it's flaws, I was really pleased with the film version of Interview.I was one of those crazy fans that was up in arms about Tom Cruise as Lestat, but was generally pleased with his performance. In fact, I really loved him in some parts. So this isn't about the casting, I found Wes Bently to be a very good actor in American Beauty. This is about the fact that Warner Bros has decided to make the third chapter WITHOUT making the second! Unless they plan on Changing the entire storyline of Queen of the Damned, I really don't see how they can do this. It's like making Return of the Jedi without making Empire. IT MAKES NO SENSE. Queen of the Damned is material for a very good movie, make no mistake, but one needs to make The Vampire Lestat FIRST. My suspicion is that the only reason that Warners is moving forward so quickly with Queen is that sometime this year, they will lose their rights to Anne Rice's novels, and they are trying to quickly make some money off their probably expensive investment. They are going to make it FAST and QUICK, just to make a buck, which really sucks. hopefully, production will be delayed in enough time for the rights to revert back to Anne Rice, and she can then take it to a studio that will make this series in the correct order. I think the best thing to do to find out what is really happening is go straight to the source: Anne Rice has a listed phone# for her fans, where she's usually very candid about her feelings towards Hollywood. I'm going to call up and see what she has to say on the fan line, for all of those of you out there who are so inclined, the # is (504)522 8634
Who knows? maybe we're lucky, and they are actually filming The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned back to back, a la Lord of the Rings? Probably wishful thinking.

    by tastyradish

Without doing the second book, which gives Lestat's whole backstory and introduces many of the important characters of the third book, my guess is theyre going to dump Queen on us as some action/horror schlock with the Queen running around killing everything without bothering with much of an explanation as to who, why, whatever.

why there is no vampire lestat

    by sheikhsaab

Making a movie out of the second novel "The Vampire Lestat" would be very difficult, since a very important postion of it does not even have lestat there. It's basically just the history of the vampires. Though it is a great novel, I feel it is fine to skip it and just start "the queen of the damned" novel from the point where Lestat first makes his band. Fans of the novels will know the history behind it and so should enjoy the movie even more, and those that have not read any of the books will not miss out on any Lestat action

    Vampire stuff

    by clotho

There were more than 3 books in the series, to answer someone's question. They were, in this order, Interview With the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Thief, Memnoch the Devil, Pandora, The Vampire Armand, and Vittorio the Vampire (and for those of you who plan to read them, the quality heads straight downhill after Queen). So, yeah, a lot more than a trilogy. As for the casting of Wes Bentley, I don't have quibble with that, even given the fact that I had no problem with Tom Cruise either. I do however, think, that jumping straight from Interview to Queen would be a grievous error. Vampire Lestat gave all the backstory, as to why Lestat is what he is and why he did what he did. Also, if they skip, those that have not read the books are going to be really lost when major characters such as Marius, Mael, Pandora, Santino, and even Akasha herself are introduced. Such a bad idea.

    Lestat

    by doctor a

I too am a HUGE Anne Rice fan. I have read evrything from the Chronicles to the Slleping Beuty Porn and even found the Redbook short story the came before Interview with the Vampire. That being said, I have to disagree with the folks who suggest that QOTD can't be made without TVL being done first. As much as it makes me ill, I can't see a porducer making another film about how one becomes a Vampire ala Anne Rice. Neil Jordan did it already. the point is Anne Rice spends ALOT of book time telling Lestat's version of the events in Interview. That will not fly on the screen for a general audience. A film version can condence the events in TVL that are relavent to Lestat's going underground and his formation of the band Satan's Night Out and move on from there. AGAIN, I am not saying as an Anne Rice fan I would like this, but one can make a self contained movie of QOTD in this manner. They will simply invent some connection to the end of Interview with Lestat in the mustang and link it to the new film.
Finally, as for Lestat...Anne Rice has said on many occasions that her inspiration for Lestat's look was Rutger Hauer. Untill they find someone who looks like that, no Lestat will be correct.

I love it!!! I can't wait to see what head is up there next month. Anyways...I'm not really looking forward to this movie. I've read the first four Vampire Chronicles and stopped when I tried to read that fifth piece of theological-wannabe trash. I'm not a HUGE Anne Rice fan, but I think if any books could be made into a decent series of movies or a really good HBO mini-series, it's the Mayfair Witches. Actually, the mini-series would be the best way to go if they wanted to cover the entire set of novels...well, if they wanted to even cover the first novel.

There ISN'T going to be a TVL movie

    by wizardx

Come on guys. We all read Harry's site. Do we know NOTHING about the making of movies? Vamp Lestat would not be "difficult" to film, it would be outright IMPOSSIBLE to make a decent movie out of. To even BEGIN to scratch the surface of it would take a 6-8 hour miniseries. Just to properly film the opening and closing "present day" sections would take up 45 minutes to an hour. How precisely do you propose to then condense the entire history of the vamps into another hour of film?
They could easily cover what needs to be said from TVL while skimming through the first two hundred pages of QOTD.
The fact is, TVL will not be made into a movie, and I for one would rather see them try to do QOTD than sit around and cry about Vamp Lestat and, consequently, never see another Vampire Chronicles film.

Vampire Lestat needs to be made

    by shadione

I'm not much of an Anne Rice fan, but I'm a big fan of vampires. I think Rice's vampire chronicles are generally over-dramatic crap, 'especially' Queen of the Damned. Her depiction of Lestat as a vampire rock star plays like your grandmother's idea of what a rock star is, totally un-convincing. That being said, The Vampire Lestat, second book in the series, is in my opinion one of the best vampire books ever written. How this gem came out of an otherwise un-interesting and pandering series I have no idea, but it did. Lestat single-handedly re-defined the vampire genre in the modern age, taking it several steps beyond our century-old definition. The idea of the romantic/tragic and misunderstood creature of the night was defined by The Vampire Lestat. That being said, the idea of making Queen of the Damned and either skipping Vampire Lestat or integrated them into one story is just ludicrous. If you take out the rock star stuff (which let's face it, is nothing but a big lead-in to The Queen of the Damned, which is the one major flaw of Lestat) you've got an incredible movie just waiting to be made. I predict that a Queen of the Damned movie, however, will be similar to the book, odd, rambling, and boring.

    both ideas suck

    by greengirl

first they ruined any chance to be true to the other novels by screwing up the first movie in both writing and casting.

secondly, having finally just seen American Beauty, i'm gonna say Wes Bentley sucked. i cannot for the life of me figure out why people are gushing about him cause he didn't act. he stood there with no expression and spoke monotone. my stuffed animals could act better than that. and they're cuter.

as for bentley as lestat, i think he'd look silly in a blonde wig, and he'd better be blonde.

    by xcalibur

The Vampire Lestat needs to be made first, no matter how hard it will be to adapt for several reasons. It was one of Anne Rice's best, it introduces pretty much every character considering the fact that Louis had only met a few vampires, and without it the audience who never experienced the books would clearly be trapped in Louis' biased perception of Lestat as a monster. I would also like to say that Tom Cruise took the Lestat role and really made it his own. He did an incredible job and it would be difficult for anyone to replace him just like it would be nearly impossible to replace Kristen Dunst because of her amazing performance as Claudia. Also, I for one, loved the Guns & Roses cover of Sympathy for the Devil on the soundtrack. I am also afraid that Hollywood will try to turn Queen of the Damned into a silly action/horror b-movie(ex. John Carpenter's Vampires), where the Queen just goes around whacking vampires with no motive. We will know if this is the case if the trailer reveals very little dialogue and just plays metal music, while showing lots of violence(a complete contrast to Interview). I just really hope Anne Rice writes the Screenplay like she did for Interview. Lastly, I wonder how they're going to deal with the discontinuity of who brought Daniel, the Interviewer across.

    A suggestion for patience

    by jasondkeldar

While I immensely enjoyed Lestat's adventures with his Nicky and his mother and Armand as a dirty boy, the main problem of not doing TVL as a movie first would primarily be the quest for Those who Sleep and an explanation of Akasha's silence, which may be all they delve into with this movie. There is no accounting for the way Hollywood pares away parts of novels and all, but if you simply tell the story of Lestat's visit to Marius and Akasha followed by her awakening and taking him, ignoring the Rock Star sequence entirely, it would give a perfect lead-in to Maharet's gathering of the Elders, and her retelling of the origins. This, coupled with Jesse's sojourn to find him, perhaps without the lure of a concert, but rather some other popularity event, such as a premiere for a movie of his
"life".. This reworking of the story order would set up perfectly a sequel to resolve the loosened plot threads created this way..

I found The Vampire Lestat to be the most arresting of the books, simply because he was unapologetic. I agree that it will be difficult for casual viewers to grasp the roots of Lestat's character if we jump straight into The Queen of the Damned, particularly since we already miss them in Interview with the Vampire. The only reason I can imagine QOD filmed first is, cynically, because it has a great explosion/fights/vampires/rock music index. Who wants to see Lestat 'save' his mother from cancer by transforming her into a vampire when we can have him driving around on a harley and making out with the queen of the vampires? The pain won't be complete without some CGI Old Ones.

    by skylewalker

That show would kick some serious ass and would make a great 20 hour miniseries. This shit is just screaming to be made into a multi-generational, highly erotic, supernatural piece unlike any before seen. The segues would be admittedly difficult, but they could go with chronological order, although I'd probably prefer it as written.

I like the vampire stuff, but I'd say the stuff is unfilmable. Lestat is too badass to ever be fully realized on screen, although Cruise didn't do a bad job and Bentley would probably do an okay job as well. Some books are just better left to the imagination. In fact, maybe that applies to the Mayfair witches as well. Who knows, although I'd like to see that Lacey Charbet chic from Party of 5 be cast as MONA. That would be some crazy shit, and I think the chic would be perfectly cast.

Oh yeah, is this series even over?

FUCK QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, MAKE THE VAMPIRE LESTAT

    by quentin69

Oh god.... you guys are such fuckheads...... How can anyone justify making this film WITHOUT making The Vampire Lestat????? Something NEEDS to be understood here. These books are NOT parts of one single story...they ARE NOT a sequential story saga..... EACH BOOK is an individual story in and of itself......ALL EXCEPT FOR "THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED"... QOTD is a SEQUEL TO "THE VAMPIRE LESTAT"!!!!!!!! The Vampire Lestat is the CROWN JEWEL of the Vampire Chronicles! It is the greatest book Rice has ever written, and I think that most true fans would agree. IWTV is the story of Louis, TVL is the story of Lestat, and LESTAT IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES!!! TQOD was simply the "action thriller" of The Vampire Chronicles....and as a matter of fact, I didn't like it that much..... "The Vampire Lestat" is NOT merely background information for the rest of her books, it IS the culmination of her work itself. We follow the life story of her most intruiging character, Lestat... we go from Paris to Greece, and on the way, we explore the dark history of some other characters in Anne Rice's world. Not only that, but we become enthralled with two of her greatest characters, Gabrielle and Marius!!! LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THEY SHOULD MAKE THIS FILM "WITHOUT" LESTAT...because you know what? Who gives a fuck? (I don't actually mean that no one gives a fuck, I mean "why should anyone care?") Let's talk about this: FLUSH THIS FILM DOWN THE FUCKING TOILET.... I SAY THAT QOTD SHOULDN'T EVEN BE MADE! I SAY MAKE THE VAMPIRE LESTAT, AND THEN ***MAYBE*** WE SHOULD START THINKING ABOUT QOTD AS A SEQUEL!!!!!!!

    The Vampire Lestat

    by silky

Like many of Anne Rice's fans, I was NOT happy to hear that Cruise was cast in IWAV, but changed my mind when I heard him say (paraphrase here) "I know that I wasn't the obvious choice, but I couldn't resist it". Which is Lestat in a nutshell. Unfortunately IWAV is Louis's story, not Lestat's. I was looking forward to "Lestat" because I could just imagine Cruise in the "rock star" mode. Hell, I was even "up" for a respise of Banderas's Armand UNTIL I read the book. JIMMER, you are SO right about . MorGoth, I agree that Kirsten was amazing.

Changing subjects completely: Has anyone here seen the Dwight Yoakam-helmed "South Of Heaven West Of Hell" that closed the Slamdance festival? If so, would you e-me regarding this film -- sihlgi@aol.com Thanx.

Wes is good, but not as Lestat

    by lupusapien

I loved Wes Bentley in American Beauty, but he would be mis-cast as Lestat, if only in a physical sense(except for those piercing eyes, I know). However he would be perfect for the role of Armand. As much as I thought Banderas was cool in IWTV, he was completely mis-cast. Wes, on the other hand, would be great as the youthfull-appearing vampire who first challenges Lestat in TVL, and then takes the interviewer Daniel as his ward in TQOTD.

    Reply to Talkback

  • I do agree that WB has the kind of dark intensity that would seem to lend itself better to a young Bruce Wayne. But I have run this scene over and over in my mind several times and it further reinforces my opinion that he would be a truly wicked Peter Parker.
Imagine for a moment young Parker (Bentley) returning from his latest TV appearance as the Amazing Spider-Man, only to return home to find his beloved Uncle Ben murdered by some faceless criminal. Those "Halogen High Beams" as Harry puts it would convey the pain and regret of Parker's missed opportunity perfectly.
I'm quite sure he would make a great young Bruce Wayne too, but ever since I saw American Beauty, his is the only face I could logically put to a flesh-and-blood Peter Parker, so perhaps I'm a little biased.
It's just that there are very few 20-something actors who I really like. I find most of them just overhyped pretty boys with NO acting ability whatsoever. To date, I have found NONE of the potential Anakin rumors floating around the net particuarly exciting. But that's just one man's opinion.

    by dawson's crack

Look, for all of the posters who are crying out for the movies to be told in chronological order, think about it...if they were, then TVL should have been first. To be honest, I found TVL the most frustrating of the books. The way it went back, then went back from there, then went back again, it felt sort of manipulative. For the sake of breaking the story down into a two hour movie, the others were right, it IS impossible. You can allude to the necessary content from TVL in the Queen enough so the story moves and makes sense. The only thing that would make the movie cheeseroo would be the way they chose to depict Lestat as a rock star. I mean there's 'rock star' and there's 'after school special rock star'. I think any way you look at it, it will probably be mediocre at best.

I dont think I saw anyone mention this, but I think the reason they may skip past TVL is because Tom Cruise is still holding the rights to do that movie. Body Thief

    by yourrealdad

The Tell of the Body Thief would make the best Lestat film. And in my opinon is the best adventure story Anne Rice has written. I've read Body Thief every year since I was 16.

If you read The Vampire Lestat you can see how much needs to be dropped from the film. Like the parts about Armand and Marius. There is also the Interview with the Vampire commentary wich couldn't be in the film. Understand this is not a sequel to 1994's "Interview". But a seperate film with different people all together.

If you recall Lestat didn't really end. It was the Empire Strikes Back of the series. She had the idea for the book while watching "Empire" on an Air Plaine. So goes to show eh!

The only thing that gets me is that KORN will be doing Lestat's songs. Makes no sense. That music is so gruffed. Lestat would not make that type of music. He wouldn't even like it.

But if you take all Lestat's sections of both books you have a film. I think they are condensing the two.

I just hope when they reveal the back story with Maharet they doit right.

I agree it would be tight if they did it with Pulp Fiction like cuts "THE EARLY EDUCATION & LIFE OF THE VAMPIRE LESTAT." and so on.

Oh yeah. Anne Rice said she gets the rights back on all the films this year if they don't go into production and that she will finance them her self. So I don't know what with that now.

    by 0007

I thought Harry for sure was an Anne Rice/Interview with the Vampire hater (or at least apathetic to it all), due to the lack of his even mentioning IWTV or Rice EVER before. So good job Harry! I am so glad you decided not to "ignore and forget" any news on this or related projects.
To the guy that said to get the composer from Bram Stoker's Dracula: Wolciech Kilar will be scoring The Lord of the Rings series, so he will be too busy. But that sure would be cool. Oh well, Elliot Goldenthal did a pretty great job on the first film. I just hope that Lestat's music on QoTD sounds like it is described in the novels. Also, to all of you that say the novels went downhill after Queen: Forget it! At least in my opinion I thought Vittorio and Armand were right up to par with Lestat and Interview. Tale of the Body Thief, Pandora, Vittorio and Memnoch were kind of like side stories, not to be taken as if they were following in the same tradition that the first three started...

I have always pictured Kiefer Sutherland in the role of Lestat. The long stringy hair, tall and slim, and narrow jaw. He has Lestat written all over him. The funny thing about all this Lestat casting is a rumor I heard during "Interview" filming. When Ann Rice was writing this book in the '70's, she pictured Rutger Hauer as Lestat. Don't think that would work now though.

As much as I hate Tom Cruise I must say that the part of Lestat is the one part that Ive always thought he was perfect playing.
This Wes guy is goodlooking and Im sure he could play a vampire. But not Lestat. Jesus. They did the same shit to the Batman movies. 3 different actors has plAayed that part. Val Kilmer was awful. Clooney was really cool. But Michael Keaton is the only real batman. Just like Cruise is the only real Lestat. Why the fuck does Hollywood always cast a new actor to play the same part in an ongoing movie-series? If they have to use a new actor. They should use Nicholas Lea. But I bet nobody here knows who that is. He is Krycek. The onearmed villain on the X-files. He would make a good Lestat.

    by nazzim of bazzim

I used to call myself a big Anne Rice fan, but am now embarrassed when anyone brings this up, as her books quickly became UNREADABLE SUB-HARLEQUIN TWADDLE! Queen of the Damned was the last one I got through, but it was terrific. She even changed her style to more of a Stephen King atmosphere when describing some white trash vampires. (as opposed to eurotrash, which most of her vampires are). It would be unbelievably easy to condense key set-up events from The Vampire Lestat for inclusion in Queen. No problem. You'll see. Lestat's awakening of Akasha could be an "oops, I remember something I did a few centuries ago" type flashback. Lestat could be a rock star as the story opens. You don't have to do much explaining there. It makes sense. It's a very good adaptation idea. Go read TVL and tell me how easy that book would be to adapt. Ha!

But if they skip Lestat, they will miss out on probably the most complex vampire in the Chronicles, Gabrielle. Let Wes Bently play Lestat, and let Michelle Pfeiffer play Gabrielle. Queen of the Damned may be better than Lestat, but you need the second part to allow it to reach its brilliance, and a highlight before the series takes a downer. And that means getting Michelle...

    The Vampire Lestat

    by theaq

Romantic/tragic, misunderstood? Lestat? Hmmm...I guess you could describe him that way, however, i think it would be more arrogant, conceited, megalomania. Lestat sees himself as the pure embodiment of evil. At least, until he meets Memnoch. Cruise butchered poor Lestat. That is the only tragedy I see that Lestat will allow. He enjoys the preternatural strength, eyesight, sense of smell, etc....that comes with his transformation into a vampire. He enjoys the killing. He enjoys the power.
Let's face it, Lestat was born into an aristocratic family in France before the French Revolution. Aristocrats thought of themselves as god incarnates.
Lestat awakening Akasha is just one of the problems he creates for himself and others because of his arrogance.

And Cruise as Lestat!>?!?!? Let's face the fact that Cruise' only selling point was his "pretty" face. He can't act! He butchered Lestat in IWAV.
Personally, I think Val Kilmer would make an excellent Lestat. Rutger Hauer is, unfortunately,
    too old.
Having said my piece, I will let everyone else say theirs. So long, until next time.

I have to agree with Pfangirl on the Pfiefer bit. I always pictured her playing Gabrielle, one of my favorite characters from the series. As for the potrayal of Lestat-the-Rock-Star, I always saw him as David Bowie-esque (not that he should play him necesarily, just how they could pull it off). I thought Tom Cruise was good as Lestat, against all my expectations, and would be fine if he continued the role. And TheaQ, let's face the fact that you should recognize Cruise as a proficient actor. It's all to easy to dismiss a "pretty boy"'s talent just because all the girls like him. Seen Rain Man? Magnolia? Eyes Wide Shut? Jerry Maguire? Born on the Fourth of July? Maybe you should. And don't start with Val Kilmer, the hieght of his career was Doc Holiday in Tombstone(a great performance in a good movie), but for the most part he's pretty lackluster.

    TVL vs. QotD

    by asylumescapee

If they decide to do the Queen of the Damned first... fine! I'm sure Anne will figure out a way to make it plausible... Doesn't matter which of the movies they do, it'll cost a freakin' HUGE amount of money. But for QotD, I would KILL to play the role of Maharet, because... Frankly... She kicks major bum. (yes, I'm a crazy actress, as of yet, I've only done stage)
A few nights ago, I did a pictorial "Cast of TVL" on my website... check it out, eh?

Why didn't the make TVL, Obvious!!

    by kristygrl

Okay, I am an Anne Rice fan and theres nothing Id like better than to see ALL the books as movies... well maybe. Anyways, Isn't it pretty obvious why they arent making TVL?
We don't NEED to hear about Lestats early vampirehood, and anything we DO need to hear can be explained by people reading from Lestats 'autobiography.' Theres really no need.
Also obvious is that some characters will need to be cut back, but lets face it many arent all that significant in the book. Just passing mentions.
QotD has a GOOD PLOT something that TVL lacks, its a life story not a plot driven piece.

I think that Michael Ryder will do it justice, and indeed Anee Riuce LOVED ANegl Baby, Oh and BTW Splinter, Anne is very happy with the choice of Wes as Lestat. I am too, hes much closer to Lestat than TOm Cruise was.

Is there any merit in the rumor that R&B singer Aaliyah is playing the Vampire Queen?

    well, *DUH* no TVL

    by ophelia gabrieli

First, I have to say to all those ticked because there is no TVL movie.... WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CELLULOID!!
Most of TVL is inner monologue which any screewriter will tell you is virtually impossible to adapt, and the majority of action of TVL repeats events we saw from Louis' persepctive in IWTV.

    Why no Tom Cruise

    by ophelia gabrieli

Tom Cruise can't play Lestat in QOTD because he's TOO OLD! For goodness sakes, he was too old to play the Brat Prince ten years ago! (don't get me started on AB playing Armand!)
People, people I know it's distracting to have different actors playing the same role in a series (IMHO, Sean Connery is the ONLY James Bond) but we have to grapple with the realities of Hollywood and the fact that actors DO age. I do *NOT* want to watch TC's pathetic attempt to play a character that's supposed to perpetually look 20 at age 45
