AICN Toys Exclusive!! Behold The Marvel Select: AVENGERS Movie Hawkeye Action Figure!!
John Ary here with a real treat.
Zach Oat over at Diamond Select Toys has given Ain't It Cool the exclusive first look at the new Marvel Select: Avengers Movie Hawkeye Action Figure.
Gentle Giant designed and sculpted the the world's greatest marksman. It features the likeness of Jeremy Renner in the 7-inch-scale, his trademark bow and arrows, and 16 points of articulation.
The figure also comes with a detailed display base that combines with the base of the mystery movie villain figure to create a scene from the movie. He will only be available on the specialty market starting in May along with Marvel Select versions of Hulk and the mystery villain.
He's available for pre-order here.

I feel so bad for this guy. And by ''guy'' I'm not sure if I mean Renner or the character of Hawkeye. But if this weren't a specialty toy I'd expect to see it in every Wal-Mart's clearance bin for the next three years.

It didn't have to bright purple or all purple, but just some dark purple straps or something. It's fine the way it is, but it isn't Hawkeye. It's just some guy with a bow and arrows.

or goggles..or something over his eyes (besides cool guy shades) to at least make him resemble a marvel character. explain it away that the eye slits help him focus on the target, block the glare from the sun when shooting, or zoom and are all high-techy and shit- like catwoman's goggles....

when asked what makes him so special, he explains that he's an excellent marksman. When pestered that there are tons of agents and soldiers that are an excellent shot, he defends that he can do it with a bow and arrow. When told that Bullseye can hit a target with any object and make it deadly, Hawkeye says SHUT UP, Okay...I'm Nick Fury's Leather Twink. There! I said it!! *sob*

This figure looks too generic for any kid to want. I don't know why they go to the trouble of doing an Avengers movie and not design the costume to look like it does in the comics. I don't care that it won't be realistic. I WANT A SUPERHERO FILM. MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE SUPERHEROES.

arm bands that accentuate his muscles and carry cargo, a utility belt of various arrow tips and other shit...a mask that can be explained as being functional, all these things were done with the character in the comics.....obviously Joss didn't read any hawkeye material or like him.
my theory is he's a turncoat in this. hawkeye was a villain at some point in comics history.
he'll probably go bad and then redeem himself in this one movie, and they think that's enough to make his character interesting.
shit, black widow is just a piece of ass with deadly gadgets and gymnastic/fighting ability...but at least she has those two things. -
