DC Superheroes and Aardman Animation? Yes, please.
Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here neck deep in some pretty fun shorts. A reader named Andy B. shot me a link to Geek Tyrant to check out the short promo video below. I figured with Aardman's recent PIRATES news, this was some what appropriate for today and hell - it's got Batman, Robin, Catwoman, Superman, and The Joker all clayed out in stop motiony goodness. According to the Geek Tyrant article, the promo spot was put together to spread the word about Cartoon Network's new block of DC focused TV shows called (what else, but) "DC Nation."

Love those Aardman shorts, they do lots of similar ones here on uk tv, for ads, better than the tv shows.
-
So adorable. I could watch an hour of that. Or more.

Love the idea, but that was just.... weird.

Can see the appeal to kids thou

I can understand American viewers being a bit perplexed at the style, but here in the uk Aardman do lots of similar shorts, the ' creature comfort' ads they did were so popular they were put on a dvd....
by cameron
...Being english i LOL at these but i understand if they are puzzling to some, we english have a strange sense of humour at the best of times......I remember my 1st trip to NY, a bit surreal...........

It's all your favorite DC characters, but now with children's voices and shitty faux stop-motion animation.
by Doctor_Strangepork
Thrill as the English and the anglophiles praise and defend this tub of nothing. Can we instead watch The Fleischer Brothers or Bruce Timm do it well?
-
Thanks, Muldy.

Lame bullshit... I don't think it's "faux" stop motion though
by Autodidact
These kinda suck. But to the guy who said they were faux stop motion... are you trying to say this is actually CGI made to look like stop motion? It looks like real stop motion to me.

Muldoon wins the AICN Unintentional Double Entendre Of The Day Award. Well played, sir.
-
because these are exactly the sort of thing no american animation studio would ever come up with. And to all the nay-sayers - let's not forget, people, that these are probably interstitials between cartoons on a channel aimed at children.
-
It's a promo for a kids tv network. stop being such knobheads
-
Christ, some TB's obviously pissed off with this not being a dark enough take on the source material. Lighten up, you sad sacks of shite.

I've heard lots of dull people feel the same way, you're not alone.

Hey lookie, Shrek just karate-kicked Justin Beiber! Ah-hur hur hur hur!

I thought it was cool. They made batman and robin a little retarded looking, but It was funny and different. I'd love for Aardman to do a British Superhero movie. Sort of the claymation Incredibles, but drinking tea and eating suasages.

You lot bemoaning this are a shower of tasteless cunts. But I'll take pity on those uninitiated into the Ways Of Aardman: These are based on the highly successful Creature Comforts short which in turn inspired a series of commercials and then a full blown TV show (and indeed a US version). The key to the original film was that the voice over recordings were members of the public talking about their living conditions - but animated as animals in a zoo. This technique of splicing real life commentary into slightly ironic animated situations has continued throughout the series and is represented here with children - I'm going to guess talking about the games they play. If you don't realise this is the concept then it may be mystifying. Creature Comforts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihhq5_2kaWQ

For some reason, this animation style has always turned me off.
by Cletus Van Damme
I can't stand claymation. It (for lack of a better phrase) sorta skeeves me out.
-
They need to get together for an actual show. The show they should do: Bat-mite! That's right, I said it, Bat-mite deserves a show and Aardman could perfectly capture the kookiness of the character

Whats not to get?

Um, yeah, I'm with the guys who don't get the humor.
by Tikidonkeypunch
I get that it's for kids but don't see how this is suppose to appeal to the rest of us. Maybe it isn't. I agree also that this animation is not appealing to me at all. I don't get the appeal or that pirate movie (though the trailer made me chuckle until they took out the lepers)
-
. . . there can't POSSIBLY be any douch-ey, negative nerd-rage here. Not in HERE . . .
-
and leave me cold and uninterested. They've also ruined so many films.
-
But do you get that it's interviews with real kids? Who aren't talking about Superheroes? Therein lies the comedy...

Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew + Aardman Animation = Genius

Sucks that all the trolls found it too. All you dorks need to grow up. Ironic that you're complaining about something made to entertain children. Even so, I found this quite entertaining myself.
-
I fucking hate claymation, and I especially hate Aardman's ''style.'' Makes me want to punch babies.
-
but this just doesn't do anything for me. I never got Creature Comforts either.
-
Cute and fun, just as you'd expect Aardman product to be. Those guys rock and know what they're doing. On the other hand, this Aardman stuff is probably as good as anything DC NATION related will ever get since that will likely suck major balls . Warner Bros and DC (aside from the Nolan Bat films) can't seem to get their heads out of their asses to make a good film or TV show anymore. But why be surprised by that? The new 52 line of DC Comics sucked too. Glad to see the buying public finally woke up to the garbage DC was dishing out and they're now having to cancel some books. Given how crappy they've been, I'm sure the toilets will be flushing a lot more often as more and more DC turds get flushed away.

THEY ARENT SUPERHEROS TALKING ABOUT THEMSELVES YOU IDIOTS
by chronicallydepressedlemming
They interviewed real kids, and have created stop-motion DC heros based around what the kids are talking about - THATS WHY ITS FUNNY YOU THICK CUNTS. They did the same with the 'creature comforts'.
-
I want to know what shows they will be showing and how many hours a day or whatever it will be. Disney XD is doing the same thing with Marvel shows. Game on. Why was this idea not conceived when I was a kid? Dammit.

Wikipedia has a list of announced segments. One of them, centering on Batgirl and Supergirl, is supposedly supervised by Lauren Faust.
