Aaron (Twitter HERE) dropped us an interesting link: he's gone around to various sites and nabbed some screen grabs of the soon-to-be-released STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION Blu-ray - then located the standard defnon-HD equivalent images, and created morphs for comparison.
You can find the results HERE, and the difference is very impressive. The morph between the standard def version and the HD upgrade happens by itself, just click NEXT to access subsequent shots.
Aaron's message indicates: "Some important things to notice in those two space shots - the ships have been replaced, entirely. Take a look at the Enterprise vs. Klingon shot specifically ('ships.gif'); both ships have been replaced with CGI, but in a way that it actually makes them look like they are two ships facing off against each other. To me, this is a good improvement."
For those who've asked why I haven't written up this new set myself? I've yet to receive a review copy, and at this rate I'm guessing I probably won't. But it won't be too long before you can see for yourself! A sample disc of three TNG HD episodes hits Blu-ray next week.
