BONE Has Its Director And Writer!

Nordling here.

I love Jeff Smith's BONE.  It's one of the most charming fantasy comics I've ever read.  And according to Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers has found its director and writer for the film adaptation.  The movie will be written by Patrick Sean Smith, creator of the ABC Family show GREEK, and directed by P.J. Hogan (MURIEL'S WEDDING, PETER PAN)

I'm not familiar with GREEK or Patrick Sean Smith, but Hogan is a terrific choice for BONE.  His live-action PETER PAN is one of the best versions of J. M. Barrie's tale ever made, and it's a fantastic family adventure.  It's just the right mindset for a director to have when tackling a huge story like BONE's.  PETER PAN was visually arresting as well, so I think Hogan's got the chops to pull off Smith's fantastic imagery.  BONE will be produced by Dan Lin and Animal Logic (the animation company behind HAPPY FEET 2 and LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS).

I'm curious to know if it will be fully animated or just certain characters.  Now that the writer and director have been chosen, it's on to production.  Can't wait.  And, if you've never read BONE, there's a collection well worth your time.  It's so much fun.  And if you haven't seen Hogan's PETER PAN, it's on Netflix Instant.  Go watch it, right now.

Nordling, out.
