New Poster And Stills From ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER!!
Merrick here...
We've mentioned before that Timur Bekmambetov (director of NIGHT WATCH, DAY WATCH and WANTED) is adapting Seth Grahame-Smith's ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER for the big screen.
Now, we have a few new stills from the movie - along with a new poster for the film. Click the poster to jump to IMPAwards for a larger version...
...and click this rather nice image to jump to MovieInfos for a larger version and a few other shots.
The film hits late June, with a screenplay co-credited to by the book's author and Simon Kinberg (X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and SHERLOCK HOLMES).
Last week we learned that Grahame-Smith is currently mulling a BEETLEJUICE return with Tim Burton (details HERE).
Thanks to Empire for stumbling across these shots.

I'm starting to suspect they might be sparkly and wear ruffled puffy pirate shirts.
-
or a shitty serious film.
-
Spec script coming up
-
Abraham Lincoln and George Washingon were not contemporaneans, with about 50 years dividing the lives of the two great men. I don't need to be an american to know that.
-
At least it shouldn't be. The book is solid horror, disturbed me quite a bit.
-
I'm in. So sick of love intrest vampires. I blame you Copolla. I cought Night Watch and Day Watch on IFC a couple years ago and thought they were cool as hell. So this is definitly on the radar for this summer.
-
They should've used something similar to the book cover.
-
I remember picking up the book last and year and checking out the first few pages. It was surprisingly readable. The silly concept put me off buying it, but I will definitely check the movie out.

What would be nice is if this was filmed in the style of late '60s/early '70s Hammer
by openthepodbaydoorshal
(Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter anyone?), but given Bekmambetov's past work I guess we can expect a lot of overwrought camera (CG) effects... And I guess nowadays it just takes a brooding stare, a mole and a beard to play Lincoln.

George Washington is an immortal who faked his own death. I don't need to be an American to know that.

In all seriousness, they could do fine Teddy Roosevelt: Monster Slayer type movie

He was by far our most badass president and notorious big game hunter.

Looks like a good time at the movies.

If they stacked a few vampire decapitated heads in front bottom of the poster facing him.

The one of him sitting in the woods.

Can't imagine I'll like this any better

Abe Lincoln hunting vampires and a mega-budgeted FX porn adaptation of the board game Battleship. Almost makes one wish that old Skynet was real and pulled the fucking trigger.

Creepythinmanlives, saying "FACT" is still retarded, no matter how much you use it.
by notcher
That goes for the rest of you "FACT" clones too! This movie could be cool, but the poster makes me think it will suck as much as the talkbackers on here who say "FACT."
-
No blood splatter, an important part of the book cover. The axe is a little hard to see, when having it at a bit of an angle would make it read better AND help add something unusual that is needed to alter the classic "memorial" pose. Then, there's the problem that the actor appears too young and too attractive... but that's a casting problem. I am available for consulting.
-
Says you. I'm psyched for both of those movies. I also DVR Downton Abbey. Just because I can appreciate lowbrow entertainment doesn't mean the world's in the shitter. There's plenty of room for Moon Pies among the Kobe beef.

was that i bought it thinking it would be funny, then found it to be a legit story in the vein of pn elrod.

If he were a Democrat, he would either surrender to the vampires, or offer them endless food stamps in return for their allegiance. Maybe vampires are a good metaphor for liberals. Sissy effeminate white dudes who sleep all day, don't work, and leech (suck the blood) off normal people their entire lives. Go Abe Go!
-
And we wonder what's happened to literature in this country. Oh, and locke815's an idiot. Most likely, a Sissy effeminate white idiot with insecurity issues.

Abe Lincoln, Jewish Vampire Hunter?
-
First he popped a cap in Bin Laden's ass. Next he made it look like Kim Jong-il died of a heart attack. Now he is on the trail of the successor, Kim Jong-un. It looks like North Korean BBQ is on the White House kitchen's menu tonight. Sam Jackson as President Barack Obama. =I'm Barack, motherfucking Hussein Obama!=
-
...as in, Dumb on Arrival. Given that even the most modest commercial film production utilizing any degree of recognizable cast, reasonable set production, effects and required marketing campaign to cut through the noise and reach potential target audience (i.e. put butts in seats) necessitates millions of dollars, does anyone else come away from this thing thinking it's one big expensive joke? Seriously, how could anyone think there's a built in audience large enough for this crap? It's like taking a fart joke to the opera to tell it again.

Sorry locke; the Republicans were the big government Liberals in the 1860's; fighting against the small government States Rightist in the Confederacy.
-
Like Wilson surrendered in WWI. Like FDR and Truman surrendered in WWII and Korea. Like JFK surrendered in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Like LBJ surrendered in Vietnam. Like Clinton surrendered in the Balkans. Like Obama surrendered to Ghaddafi and the Taliban and the Somali Pirates and Bin Laden. You don't HAVE TO be an ignorant moron to be a Republican, but it sure helps!
-
That guy just looks damn cool with a gun, ya gotta admit. Speak softly and carry a big steampunk bazooka.
-
seriously I can't be alone here, I'm fucking bored of all these generic vampire movies. Oh BUT HEY! There's an EDGEY angle to this one! IT has Abraham Lincoln! ISn't that wacky and cool?! No, it just means it's a vampire movie set in the past, with guys running around chopping vampire heads off with an axe, like every other fucking vampire movie with loud fucking sound effects giving me a fucking headache. If this was Geore Bush: Vampire Hunter, I would pay to see THAT shit.
-
Believe it or not, but I was one of the background artists that filmed this in Louisiana ast year. I was the coordinator of the extras in the battle scenes. Haven't a clue if I'll show up on film. though.

blue_demon, I think with your Teddy Roosevelt: Dinosaur Hunter one
by lv_426
plus my Obama: Dictator Assassinator and the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter one, and we've got a solid trilogy. Would Teddy Roosevelt go back in time, or would the dinosaurs come to his time through some temporal rift or wormhole? Roosevelt hunting dinosaurs in Yellowstone could be fun.

That'd be my tag line. If I cared about this movie. Which I don't. If it gets good word of mouth I might check it out one day, but honestly, right now it feels like the kind of one note gimmick film that I generally tend to avoid.

Seriously, the book is awesome! The foggy still comes right out of the book...can't wait for this!
by david_boreanez_cunt_hairz
There is alot of real history mixed in with the un-real. Hope they don't cut too much from the book, just make it a flowing story.

Abraham Lincoln never once desired for blacks to be free (as he made clear in numerous political speeches he made in the South -although our children will never be told this). He signed into law the emancipation proclamation only AFTER two years of bloody warfare whose aim was simply to deny the South independence. In fact, the Emancipation Proclaimation only freed slaves in the 'rebelling states' but allowed slavery to continue within the states still loyal to the Union. Moreover, the Emancip. Procl. couldn't free any slaves in the rebeling states -since those states rebeled and didn't recognize Lincoln's authority. It wasn't until the 13th amendment passed in 1865, was slavery abolished in the United States -Congress freed the slaves, not Lincoln. FYI - As an act of war, the British issued their own Emancipation Proclamation during the American Revolution. The idea was that slaves would rebel and flee, thus, destroying the economy and forcing Americans to end the war. How was their Emancipation Procl. an act of war, and Honest Abe's Emanc. Proclam. not?? Abe Lincoln was a politician, no more, no less. He is not Jesus Christ. He did whatever was necessary to remain in power and protect his political agenda. It mattered not at all that he burned the Constitution, suspended habeau corpus IN THE NORTH, intentionally killed thousands of civilians (ie, Sherman's March), and sent more soldiers to their deaths than in any other American war.

The amount of time Daniel Day Lewis will spend kicking himself for not being this Abe Lincoln. Timur is responsible in part for that aborted Skyline 2.0 of a disaster The Darkest Hour, and Kinberg helped give us X3. The only way this one will work is if its somewhat tongue in cheek.

How much drugs does it take for someone to make a shitty poster?
by Superslum
Obviously not much.
-
Jus sayin.
-
Not intentionally you meant. However, he was the catalyst for Blacks being free, well him and especially the Abolitionists during that time. Lincoln was the grand savior, just another carpetbagging politician.(And a pillow biter too.) Ah, you gotta love what the History books tells us. "Holy Whitewash, Batman"!

Wow. That's some real progressive liberal bullshit history your being taught there about Lincoln.
by The_Maltese_Vulcan
Go read source material like Lincoln's hand-written letters instead of some tenured Teacher's biased musings and get it straight.
-
I think it looks cool. One ass in seat here.
-
Yeah, hunting dinos in Yellowstone would be great! The movie can end with a T-Rex skull in the Oval Office while Ted kicks back with a beer.
-
Talking politics about Vampire Hunter Lincoln? Really? Lincoln the Vampire Hunter and Teddy Roosevelt should take out all you turds.
