Herc’s Thursday TV Talkback!! Chat Here About The Returns Of 30 ROCK, THE OFFICE, PARKS AND RECREACTION, UP ALL NIGHT, PERSON OF INTEREST And More!! Plus More Fresh WIPEOUT, JERSEY SHORE, GREY’S ANATOMY!!
Last year’s very funny Christmas episode of “The Office,” broadcast way back on Dec. 8, saw a super-drunk Kelly Erin ready to destroy Andy’s perfectly nice new girlfriend.
The last time we saw Ben Wyatt, he decided not to be an accountant after all.
Tonight brings the first new “30 Rock” since May 5. How long ago was that? At the time, Jack’s wife had just been kidnapped by Kim Jong Il! Not Kim Jong Un!
Returning tonight:
The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
Parks and Recreation (NBC)
The Mentalist (CBS)
The Office (NBC)
Person of Interest (CBS)
30 Rock (NBC)
Up All Night (NBC)
Premiering tonight:
“The Finder” (9pm Fox), from the creator of “Bones,” is about a guy who can find anything.
“¡Rob!” (8:30pm CBS) from SNL vets Lewis Morton (“NewsRadio,” “Futurama,” “Big Lake”) and Rob Schneider, is about a non-Latino who marries into a huge Mexican-American family. Claudia Bassos is hotter than Sofia Vergara and Eva Longoria combined. Cheech Marin is in this too, as is ubiquitous El Paso native Lupe Ontiveros.
Snakeman of Appalachia (9pm Animal Planet) follows a hillbilly clan with "deep roots in the serpent-handling religion." I predict this will supplant “Grey’s Anatomy” as the 9pm Thursday time-slot leader.
With most of its competition pre-empted or in repeats, “Wipeout” enjoyed a huge comeback last week:

Tired of seeing it in syndication. Sometimes syndication makes you crave new episodes, but I've had a bit of overkill. Hope the new stuff is good.

NBC is dead to me for the foreseeable future. They know what they did.

I will watch The Office. It hasn't been great this season, but there's nothing better on Thursdays.
by I_Love_LanaLang
The Andy character is an okay replacement for Michael, but the scripts need a lot more imagination. The Robert California bits could be funny if the writers were to throw caution to the wind. Dwight is clearly the best character on the show. I looked at that long list of Thursday programming, and, other than The Office, I don't see anything that would interest someone of even moderate intelligence. I am really looking forward to Friday's programming. It's the best tv day of the week right now.
-
with the same type of lame, if not borderline offensive, jokes as Kat Denning's 2 Large Boobs show, and Work It. And, I believe Schneider is half-Filipino, so touting him as lily white compared to his fictional Latino in-laws hardly applies. Oh, it's 2012, and Andy still sucks. That is all.

Fuck off, simpleton

When are they back? Or is the whole season done?

By the way, your role model sucks dick when she isn't being a lesbo, and she loves it when she gets sperm shot into her eyes- she says the protein helps keep her purty. She isn't special or unique, just another interesting face with no acting ability - lots of them floating around. Have fun, asshole, with you daily, taunting posts designed to insult folks here who genuinely want to converse with people with similar interests. taka a long walk down the middle of a highway today to clear your fucking subhuman mind, shitstick What you admire is loatherd by most people- you are a lousy excuse for a human being fuck you Now I feel better, for thinking at one point you were a genuine human being Shadows and light, my dubious contrarian, shadows and light

i dont think so. too much hate on

It really was entirely batshit, by far the darkest, more depraved season of television I think I've ever seen. Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) took his game to entirely new level this season. They were really firing on all cylinders for like 9 of the 12 episodes this season, and the season finale two-parter only seemed disappointing because the season leading up to it was so much better than the finale. Frank's Pretty Woman, thunder gun express, chardee macdennis, frank's little beauties...the list goes on. I'm trying not to think about how annoyed I'll be this evening after I watch Parks, realize there was no Community, watch a disappointing Office, and then realize there's no Sunny or League or anything else to clean up the night. Maybe 30 Rock will bring it....but I've kinda lost faith. last season was soooo bad for the most part. I'll probably just watch arrested development on netflix. Never, ever, ever gets old.

I Think I Wrote That Whole Thing To Eventually Talk About Justified
by Crow3711
But I enjoy Sunny so much I forgot. Anyways, yes, I'm definitely looking forward to Justified returning next week, too. Last season was really great. And I agree about having Leonard's voice on television. Very refreshing, surprisingly badass and funny. Olyphant is fucking brilliant. Modern-day Seth Bullock is pretty much the best idea ever.
-
This represents the first and last time you will be mentioned by Herc in Coaxial this season... At least until KableTown finally cancels you.
-
No. Never. You are merely blinded by the pink bra in the clip. Bassos is not as hot as Vergara divded by Longoria, much less their combined power. That Rob show looks terrible. I had passed on Rules of Engagement for some time before I caught an ep by accident. It was really funny. I hope they bring it back instead. And the RoE lady cast is far hotter than Claudia Bassos. However, not as hot as either Longoria or Vergara. Oh, and I'm still laughing at the Office Mannheim Steamroller airband.
-
Until the Franks Brother episode. That episode plus the two or three after it were stinkers, but it got back on track, aside from the lack of McPoyle at the highschool reunion. How come I always forget 30 Rock still exists? It's a good enough show...
-
Since late summer, our DirecTV had been without local channels. Just in time for the new fall season. But I diligently logged onto Hulu every Friday morning there was a new Community to watch, and afterward would go ahead and catch the new P&R and Office. Now, finally, we have local channels back in our house. Just in time for a Thursday night I realize I now have no interest in watching. P&R is great, I won't deny...but it's not Community. And without that lead in, I find I really don't have any real desire to tune in tonight, not even the mild appeal I have for a waning new season of 30 Rock or another half-baked Office. Not even the love I have for P&R. I just don't fucking care. Maybe I'll read a book instead. Or do some writing. I know absolutely no one from NBC will a). read this or b). care about this if they did read it. But I needed to vent. And if you can't vent on AICN, where can you? Satan in satin slippers. Christ on a crooked crutch. Bring back Community.
-
Your assessment of Thursday night TV up there is a carbon copy of my own thoughts. Except Justified...still haven't started it yet. Think I know what I'm doing with the rest of my day. Oh, Netflix......
-
Claudia Bassos, over Vergara? GAY.
-
I don't think so. If the constant Whedon shaft stroking didn't make you question Hercs orientation this one puts an end to all speculation. That skinny tall chick while cute isn't near the super nova of hotness that is Vergara.

They more I here about The CBS Series PERSON OF INTEREST the more I want to watch it!
by Ines5
Question? is PERSON OF INTEREST a Drama You had to have watched every single episode of in order from the Beginning or is it still Early Enough in The Season to be able to get into it??
-
So let me get this straight, you question Herc's sexuality because he finds a woman attractive? Huh. Well ... I guess some people are looking for any reason to call Herc gay.
-
Herc may not be gay, but he sure likes 'em boyish.

in reruns. I don't watch TV much so I usually catch up with these things late and although it's no X-Files (as much as it tries to be despite the lack of the hot red head), I like the religious/blasphemous overtones.

LanaLang seems to have gotten so under your skin he's now in your DNA. Let it go man, don't go over to the darkside. Remember, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. Every angry rant you post just encourages him all the more; ignore him and he becomes powerless. Expend your energy in more positive pursuits. Otherwise you are in danger of becoming the very thing you've been fighting against - a tiresome troll with nothing positive to say whose posts are not even worth the few seconds it would take to read them. Move on and be at peace.

I'm gonna be posting this around quite a bit, so apologies ahead of time if this post gets annoying. Hey fellow TBers. I'm writing a piece on the current state of AICN and how it got where it is. This isn't for a class or anything. It's just something I feel very strongly about and I'd like to write about it. I need some help with something. A key point in the article is going to be "pwesents". I feel like no elaboration is necessary as to why. If you post here regularly, you know. Here's my question: I know that the original "pwesents" post is long gone. However, I have heard that some people have screencaps or have the exact quote saved, etcetera. If someone could get me the screencap or the quote (preferably soon, I wanna get this piece knocked out) I would very much appreciate it. I want to have this quote cited as accurately as possible. Thanks so much guys, and sorry to be spamming the TB like this.
-
Fuck you! You bitches are your complaining about this site is now more than pathetic it's at an uber pathetic level. If you have a problem with the site... Leave... Stop coming. Spamming TB's with bull shit is just childish. Fuck off and stop crying.
-
Sofia Viagra! Thanks, I'll be here all week. Try the veal. But seriously, I can understand why Herc is crushing on the other chick--she looks a lot like Carly Pope, but without the gummy smile, and he has a thing for here and other doe-eyed brunettes. Which is kinda weird for a 14-year old girl. Ba-da bump!
-
I'm actually with you in full. This isn't something I'm writing that's three pages of "i hate the site that i'm not obligated to visit and want it to change". AICN has played a big part in my interest in movies and my decision to pursue writing as a career. It's an examination of the site's function as a whole. That said, the question I asked regarding the quote is inarguably something that very prominently plays into the picture.
-
The one with the really fake looking black beard who let out a loud roar and bear claws when it panned to the table during the trivia game? I swear that was Steve Carrell in costume... or am i crazy?
-
I have the sadness.
-
You are quite correct. THank you, my friend...
-
This is the best show on thursday, but it does have an over extneding arc pieces in the background which you should pay attention to, which may be connected to the current storyline arc. very interesting...
-
Once you get past the ridiculousness of the whole premise of the "machine". And the constant stylized graphics. And Ben looking like he has a 2x4 up his ass. And Jesus being a sad sack all the time. And...what did I like about it? Oh yeah, Jesus always beats someone down at the end.

Crow3711, P&R has some decent actors on it, but the show is resoundingly awful.
by I_Love_LanaLang
The show simply isn't funny. I attribute that to the poor writing and the inability of the producers to hire decent writers. Most of the actors on the show are blameless for this disaster. Both The Office and P&R are shown during primetime on Thursday on NBC. The Office's viewership numbers are MUCH better than those of P&R. In this case, the numbers don't lie. I know a few people who like P&R. None of them are what you could describe as being bright or particularly intelligent.
-
Yes. he fucks them up good. i liked it when had kidnapped the preppie woman killer and gave him a choice, either he convinces him to let him go or he'll throw him into a tub of acid! Awesome! and ben walks like that because he had his spine reconstructed... in the story.
-
it's run its course. end it!
-
if ur in the mood for lies, distortions, smears, misogyny and hypocrisy, and thats just off the top of my head. and if u like ur "host" getting suspended and intentionally lying to his employees (that was just in the last 2 weeks LOL). also, mcgootoo, maybe u need to get the word out about his show being on that cable access channel called Current because NO ONE is watching him LOL. he had a demo of 52k for the month of December. it so NICE to see that cowards continual slide into obscurity...

P&R isn't particularly bad. It just lacks a certain spark and level of consistency.
by cookepuss
I know. I know. Most of you are going to call me a fucking idiot, but this is what I feel. April & Ron are consistently great characters. April doesn't do a whole lot, but her lines are always quirky without ever being annoying. Ron Swanson? He's like the fictionalized version Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters, but somehow cranked up to 11. Always entertaining in that way that antisocial mountain men tend to be. Apart from April or Ron, I find it hard to care about everybody else. Poehler's Leslie is a likable character, but she's not entertaining all on her own. Ansari's Tom has had his moments, but the material he's given ranges from pure brilliance to phone it in douchebaggery. P&R has somehow also made me hate Rob Lowe. Everybody else is a blur, although Andy could a good character if he wasn't consistently played as a 1D dope. The problem with P&R is that it tells stories, but doesn't relay stuff that's relatable. That's always something that the Office, in its prime, did well. You could relate to Jim nearly dying of boredom at work because it happens to each one of us daily. When Michael did stuff that was insane, you could still relate because he was a boss who overstepped his bounds and spoke for everyone, even when he had no right to do so. Most bosses DO believe that there's an "i" in team. Meredith? Who doesn't know an office drunk? With P&R, they tell a story, but they don't really try to relate it to the viewers. At its best, the Office said something that speaks to working people. P&R struggles to do that. It might tell fun stories now and then, but it really doesn't resonate. As far as this week's Office.... Not totally out of the park, but it WAS a solid episode. I like that Dwight is ambitious enough to fight for what he wants and smart enough to realize when he's being pandered to. Of all of the characters on the show, Dwight has shown the most growth. It was a good character moment for the character. The B plot of the trivia game was pretty much by the book, with team of misfits winning the day for Andy's cause, but it wasn't without its bright spots. I only feel that some characters were getting lost in the mix and simply had token dialog. Overall, this week's Office was solid B. Dwight proved himself to be smart, tenacious, and not easily be fooled by Robert's medal of honor trick. Had the B-plot been a bit funnier, the entire episode would've been much more solid. 30 Rock.... Not funny. Not unfunny. Just kinda there. Pretty much a paint-by-numbers affair. It's an average C-rated "seat warmer" episode and unless the next ones actually bring on the funny the show might just be ready to end.
-
That episdoe was as bad as Tina Fey looks now. Seriously, bitch looks haggard. Yeah I know she has 2 kids, but wow is it going to be hard to look at that for a whole season.

to bust out a hot bra shot at 8pm on network TV. She's getting up there, but there's still something undeniably sexy about her. Probably the fact she's Greek and thus no matter how smart she is, we all know she takes it long and hard in the ass. Also, I realized tonight I have never seem Brian Baumgartner interviewed in my life. I wonder if he sounds retarded like Kevin. If he doesn't, he might be one of the best comedic actors working today, because there is not a doubt in my mind Kevin is a retard.
-
So, what what were his lies, distortions, smears, misogyny and hypocrisy while reporting the news again?
-
As always, sage advice. Look forward to seeing you in the Survivor talkbacks soon, One World my friend.
-
There are out takes of him using his normal voice. He is probably the most under rated actor on that show.
-
so u wouldnt be able to spot any lies, distortion, smears, misogyny and hypocrisy from a fired MSNBC "journalist". my bad. ill give u some recent lies- he LIED about not knowing his show was to be preempted for the caucus coverage. his Current bosses even released a statement saying they wanted Olbermann to head the coverage and he threw a hissy fit and refused. he then went on Twitter and told all his fans (right!)- when asked if he was covering the caucus- that he was going to the office do go a new show that day. even LIED to his employees about it. they showed up for work and the Current bosses had to email them and tell them there would be no new show that day and they were sorry for the confusion because they were under the assumption that Olbermann already informed them. BTW- Olbermann never reports news. his OPINION pieces are not news. its commentary, but def. NOT news. ive plenty more examples, but i figured id answer the first one. quit being obtuse to the Olbermann situation
-
Who the fuck cares about behind the scenes shenanigans. Yeah, I knew you could not back up your accusations of lies, distortions, smears, misogyny and hypocrisy, about his reporting or commentary, whatever you want to call it. You must be confusing him with your Fox News haters. He's not god, and he can be a blowhard at times. I get pissed off at you idiots as well. So he's a principled old school journalism guy, something you can't comprehend. Typical conservative, can't back it up. Not need for a tit for tat, because your ugly thoughts do not matter to me. Just off the top of my head, that is.
-
I knew nothing of the recent conflict you spoke of. I did some reasearch, and admit Olbermann's ego may be getting in the way wit these caucus coverage disputes with Current TV. So what does this have to do with your other accusations? Nothing. Waiting for your examples of lies, distortions, smears, misogyny and hypocrisy. But since you don't watch him, whatever you say wil be second hand lies, distortions, smears and hypocrisy from haters like you. Same shit, another day.
-
Why did Tina Fey cancel her gym membership? That whole episode was pure balls. I really wanted to laugh but couldn't. It sucks when that happens.
-
She had another kid. That's why the season didn't start until now. What you're seeing there is post-pregnancy weight.
-
Who cares? If you didn't like the show, that's fine. Was far from my favourite episode as well. But does it really have anything to do with Tina Fey's appearance? Kinda' undermines your thoughts on the quality of the episode when you reveal yourself to be so childish and shallow. These talkbacks are a great way to lose any remaining faith in humanity.
-
Up All Night is a much better fit for NBC's Thursday lineup than Whitney could ever have hoped to have been. Whitney paired with Chelsea is perfect - a perfect combination much like, as Dwight said, a good toilet and an exceptional piece of crap. That said, Community would be the best fit for Thursday nights instead of Up All Night, or even 30 Rock. Sure, I laughed a few times, mostly at Jenna's critiques of the kids, and at the Santa with the assault rifle. However, the episode was largely forgettable. Like rsanta74, it was "just kinda there". Community was a great first course in a comedy night meal (Whitney being the morning-after dump); 30 Rock leading off the night was like a bowl of peanuts at the bar while waiting for a table to open up. Parks & Recreation was by far the best of the bunch. The Office has great, funny characters but they don't seem to want to exploit that. The trivia contest would have been better had it been the entire episode and they'd really given more for everyone to do. Certainly everyone had a moment in that episode, but it seemed too limited, too constrained. As opposed to P&R that knows they can make a funny scene of simply four characters (and a 3-legged dog) picking up wood or crammed in a truck. By the way, was it just me, or was anyone else reminded of the Little Rascals with the image of them all sitting on the curb with the dog?

i gave u an exact example of Olbermanns lies and u, of course, ignore it as irrelevant. typical. plus, i told u id start at the beginning....so here's an example of a typical Olbermann distortion- when he selectively edits clips or quotes to fit his narrative. one instance is when Olbermann said Hannity or Limbaugh claims that no one has made an issue of Obamas race is because they (Hannity and Limbaugh) havent called him the "N" word...yet. i have, yet again, backed up my claims and i bet ur gonna ignore that as irrelevant too, right? typical and expected from a "hater" such as urself. BTW- i watch him everyday (that is when hes not getting suspended or sitting in the tub in protest) and what does Fox News have to do with Olbermanns lies, distortions etc.? they dont. its just more typical deflection from the actual point at hand. thats all u progressives have to come back with when confronted with the harsh reality of ur "heroes". bbbuut, uhhhhh.....FOX! pathetic. BTW2- "So he's a principled old school journalism guy, something you can't comprehend." i didnt know lying, distorting facts and having nothing but opinion constituted a "old school journalism"...hmmm new one on me...

by jay2517
how did u NOT know of the recent "shenanigans"?? did u NOT find it weird that the "chief news officer" of Current (LOL fake title) and supposed "crown jewel" of Currents new progressive format was not anchoring the caucus coverage?? or...are u just the typical Olbermann hypocritical "fan"? whoops, rhetorical question....

Lots of prattle- nothing to say- As expected.

WE all know the show is doomed to cancellation - but at least it was a fun ride that lasted longer than many other fine shows. Let's hope we get a mind blowing season wrapup to the most intelligent science fiction show on the air right now.

Worth watching if only for the screen when Dwight man handled Gabe. Also "The correct answer is Einstein everybody gets it right ... except for ... The Einsteins." Also FaceOff on SyFy was pretty interesting with the Wizard of Oz characters all re-imagined. Glad they had almost zero footage of the contestants at "home"

u ARE a progressive. if they are "prattle" im sure u would be able to refute them, correct? so...refute away, coward...if u can.
